“not happy with support and billing contracts”
Pros
There are definite positives about the EHR. As I keep thousands of clients in the platform and it performed reliably under its previous ownership. However since the new company took over, the experience has not been nearly as good.
Cons
I am really frustrated with the support especially when it comes from people at the director level as their help has been of no use. I feel like a very unhappy customer now. They are forcing me into a billing contract that seems unnecessary, even though I have repeatedly told them they are not fulfilling their responsibilities. I've contacted the insurance companies we bill multiple times and each time they say they never received claims that TheraNest claims were submitted.

“automated appointment reminders”
Pros
One thing I really like is the telehealth integration as now it is reliable and simple for my clients to connect with. The automated appointment reminders have noticeably cut down my no-shows and I also find the customizable progress-note templates very handy for keeping records consistent.
Cons
Customer support can be slow to respond. When I run into a problem, it often takes a while to reach a real person, which is a bit of a downside when I need help quickly.

“Difficult to create documents with rising fees”
Pros
I like how well the calendar works and that I can tailor it to fit my workflow. The platform also comes with pre-built templates so I didn't have to start from scratch.
Cons
In my experience I found it difficult to create my own documents. Plus the fees rise a lot as my practice expands and I struggled to get in touch with customer support when problems came up.

“Clear layout!”
Pros
It's seriously easy to find your way around. The layout is so clean and logical everything you need is right where you'd expect it, which makes the whole experience feel smooth and effortless.
Cons
They could make it more affordable for small businesses. That change would be really beneficial.

“We've lost a lot of money!!”
Pros
Ever since Ensora replaced Theranest, it has been a nightmare.
Cons
A glitch in their system has caused financial losses and they remain unable to explain why it happened or why it still happens intermittently. In all the years using Theranest, nothing like this ever happened. After the switch, six clients have canceled with under 24 hours' notice and nobody can tell us why. In this line of work, cancellation rules are standard but some kind of bug introduced after Ensora's takeover now lets clients cancel within 24 hours, something that never used to be allowed. That bug has led to repeated schedule chaos and lost income and it's frustrating that after all this time there's still no clear reason or fix.

“too many disruptive updates”
Pros
Logging into the app is super fast. The calendar is really useful and you can jump back or forward to see past or upcoming sessions which makes planning or switching plans simple. There's a note feature that lets you add and edit entries.
Cons
Those constant updates are really annoying. At first we thought it was just a name change but they're happening way too often. After some updates things seem altered and documents go missing or become hard to locate because of the updates.

“Don't waste your money on it!”
Pros
We really dislike everything about this program. Definitely not worth the money.
Cons
Docs disappear after they're saved and appointments vanish for no reason so our counselors have to keep paper copies because this program can't be trusted. Every update creates more work since past data must be re-entered. Cancelling an appointment became more complicated after an update. Extra steps are needed to fully remove it. A biller at TheraNest as confirmed by a report, erased all Blue Cross insurance entries and after filing a complaint with proof we never got a response. The company then sends messages blaming customers, basically gaslighting us about what we should've done.

“User-friendly software”
Pros
I found it userfriendly, it makes scheduling and editing appointments simple and overall helps coordinate daily workflows for multiple staff members.
Cons
There seems to be a gap between Ensora and the actual authorization deadlines when handling insurance claims and the guidance on when to finish progress notes so new authorizations get submitted and treatment files can stay open.

“Ideal for Part time staff and Self pay clients”
Pros
This is the perfect EHR system especially if you mostly deal with self pay clients. Its pretty easy to use and also ideal if you have a team of part time clinicians because you pay based on the number of clients. So this one is for you if you have self pay clients and part time staff!
Cons
There are a few features missing on both the client and staff sides that could definitely use some improvement. The client portal and billing functions arent as strong as other programs Ive used.

“Suitable for small scale”
Pros
I find the software is very easy to use and it comes with a bunch of tools that make managing a practice much more convenient.
Cons
Sometimes the invoicing was a bit confusing and it was frustrating that we couldnt lock the financials to a specific month. If someone needed to make a correction it would mess up entire data.

“Disappointed at the downfall!”
Pros
From my experience of seven years Theranest was easy to use, had great overall user experience and an amazing customer service. Whenever I had an issue I could speak directly to someone and often Id get the same person which was great for building rapport. Sadly thats not the case anymore. Over the past two years I have seen the service go down significantly. Theyve upset users multiple times with unnecessary changes. Customer support is now automated and unhelpful and the price hikes have been constant. I would not recommend it to anyone at this point!
Cons
The service has gone downhill over the years. Everything used to be so good. Customer support used to be always available. Now its all automated with no real solutions to basic tech problems. They keep rolling out changes that arent always supported by providers and they dont give any heads up. Recently they made a major shift to Ensora and now providers are completely in the dark about what this means for data usage and privacy regarding AI integrations, opting out of unnecessary services, price hikes, note taking and other ethical and clinical issues. The responses I get are dismissive and generic. This company feels nothing like it did back in the day.

“Pretty helpful”
Pros
I love how fast Theranest works! It's really responsive and I never find myself waiting for things to load. Plus, it's so easy to use. Whether I need to access client information, create new notes or schedule appointments, everything is right where I need it. It really streamlines my workflow and I appreciate how smooth everything is.
Cons
I really wish we had notifications when families respond to reminders. It would be so much easier to keep track of everything and not miss important responses. Right now, it feels like I have to manually check if they've replied and it would be so much more convenient to have that automatically pop up.

“Often falls short”
Pros
The convenience of having comprehensive EHR software in one place has been a game-changer for me. Before Theranest, I had to juggle multiple systems to keep track of everything, like scheduling, billing and client notes. But now it's all integrated.
Cons
While the response time to issues is quick, it sometimes feels like resolving them takes forever. For example, I had an issue where my appointment times were showing up in PST instead of EST and it took almost 8 weeks to get that sorted out.

“Takes a while to load”
Pros
It is really user-friendly, which is perfect for me. I'm not the most tech-savvy person but I can still get around the platform with no issues. The interface is clean and Simple and I don't feel overwhelmed by complicated features or confusing menus.
Cons
It takes forever to load and I've tried it from different locations just to see if it's my connection but it's always the same. I'm constantly hitting the reload button to get things to load, especially when I need to pull up the month calendar or view ledgers.

Pros
The system is really easy to use. It's got helpful features that make the paperwork quick and thorough.

“Theranest limits access”
Pros
It has everything I need, scheduling, reminders, CC billing, superbills, telehealth, customizable forms. All the essentials in one place!
Cons
After the recent merger, the customer support has definitely taken a hit. On top of that the latest software update has caused some issues with scheduling. Now I can't see or change appointments more than 60 days in advance, which is a major inconvenience.

“Service quality is getting worse”
Pros
Theranest is definitely more user-friendly than any other EMR software I've used before. I'm a big fan.
Cons
The quality of the product has really gone downhill with each update since they acquired Therapy Brands. It doesn't feel as smooth and it seems like more problems pop up after every update rather than improvements.

“Excellent support”
Pros
I started using My Clients Plus when it was brand new and now it's part of Theranest. It's super easy to use and what I love most is the customer service. They're always helpful and super personal.
Cons
I get that change is part of progress but sometimes I just don't like the changes. It can be hard to get used to, especially when things were working fine before. But I understand that it's probably for the best in the long run.

“Such a great tool”
Pros
It is a fantastic platform for mental health pros. It makes managing client records and documentation really smooth. I love how easy it is to access everything, like assessments, case notes and treatment plans.
Cons
Overall I think Theranest does a great job of streamlining administrative tasks, improving workflow and keeping records organized. One thing I think would really elevate it, though is integrating AI into the platform. That would be a great addition!
