Easy to turn estimates into jobs

Pros

Putting together invoices is quick because the service and materials lists are already there to work from. Turning estimates into jobs is simple and assigning the right employees to each job is just as simple. The custom reports and dashboard make it really convenient to keep all my KPIs in one place. It also connects with QuickBooks without much effort and syncs in real time which helps a lot. Support has been very responsive and genuinely helpful whenever needed. Bringing new employees on is also easy since they get a link to download the app and can be onboarded very quickly. The checklists for techs and project managers are a big plus because they can be customized and even required before a job is marked complete. On top of that, the app lets you accept payments and even offer financing in one place.

Cons

While the app works really well in the field, the browser version has a lot more functionality. That makes the app fine for technicians but the browser is still the better option for back-office work. The QuickBooks sync is only one-way and some of the dates transfer oddly when deposits are collected or progressive invoicing is used so I end up correcting a few of them every month. Another limitation is that you cannot backdate entries so if a payment comes in and is not recorded that same day, later you can only mark the invoice as paid using the current date.

Appreciate the dispatching feature

Pros

One of the biggest strengths for us has been the dispatching feature. Using it on the company side and also seeing it from the customer side with another trade business, the text notifications have really stood out as a valuable feature.

Cons

When it came to full job management though, we needed a CRM that could handle job cost budgeting, commissions and integrate with some of our other software. It's a solid product and we were genuinely excited to use it but in the end it didn't cover everything we needed which left us entering duplicate information across two different systems.

Simplified our operations

Pros

Running my junk removal business has become a lot more manageable with this software. I can keep an eye on my crew's progress during the day, update customer appointments from my computer and those changes show up right away on the crew's phones. The team can also message customers directly through the app which helps a lot. On top of that, it takes care of professional invoicing and payments. Overall it has simplified our day-to-day operations and the automatic customer close-out messages have led to a huge increase in the number of Google reviews we receive.

Cons

The part I'm not a fan of is the direct online booking interface. If customers were using it themselves, I think it would feel confusing and not very user-friendly. Because of that, we rely on a much simpler and clearer booking form, then manually transfer those appointments into Housecall Pro.

Cool free trial option

Pros

It was really nice having a free trial so I could see how the software works before committing.

Cons

At the same time, during the free trial it was a bit difficult to figure out how everything worked.

Updates keep us current

Pros

Real-time updates keep everything current and being cloud-based makes it accessible wherever I need it. Billing is simple and getting paid online is quick and convenient.

Cons

The service plan module feels a bit inflexible and some tools like the sales proposal feature still require using the browser version instead of the app.

Competitive pricing

Pros

It delivers a lot of the capability and overall package you'd expect from a much bigger CRM/FSM platform but at a much lower cost. There aren't any outrageous per-user fees or surprise add-on charges either. The pricing is flat-rate, budget-friendly and realistic even for very small home service businesses.

Cons

A few newly released features can feel only partly finished, almost like they're still in beta and needed more time before launch. It seems like the company is moving quickly to keep up with the demands of its large user base but that sometimes means certain updates come out before they're fully polished.

Highly customizable

Pros

I really appreciate how much you can customize and adjust the software to fit the way you want to work. It comes with useful functions and tools that genuinely help with daily tasks and I especially like that the features actually do what they're supposed to do.

Cons

The part I'm not a fan of is the graphic interface since it doesn't feel very appealing to me. I also don't love that, in some situations, you have to spend time digging around and figuring things out before understanding how certain features work.

Lets us send details to customers

Pros

Scheduling has been the standout feature for us. It lets us send customers appointment notifications, arrival windows, the plumber's name and photo, plus updates when the plumber is on the way. That level of communication really makes customer service better.

Cons

The app would be even better if it worked more like the desktop version.

Templates save time

Pros

Having everything in one place for invoice tracking has been really helpful. It gives a clear breakdown of completed jobs and financial performance and the quote and invoice templates save a lot of time when putting things together.

Cons

One thing I'd really like changed is the scheduling setup. There are plenty of times when we know the job date but not the exact time yet so it would help to schedule without being forced to pick a time. I'd also love better support for partial payments or down payments before installation, with the system automatically recognizing the remaining balance still due.

Unacceptable support

Pros

It looked like a promising program at first, at least until I had to deal with the support team.

Cons

My scheduled setup call for the account never happened. After waiting about 30 minutes, I called to ask what was going on and the call was disconnected. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed it was accidental so I called again. This time, the person I spoke with laughed at me about my setup and then hung up on me as well. When I called a third time, a woman told me it might take up to 24 hours for someone to contact me. By then, I had enough and asked her to cancel my membership.

Digitalized our operations

Pros

Switching from paper invoicing to Housecall Pro has made a big difference. I used to handle everything on paper, get customers to sign forms and then send the paperwork off to corporate offices or other places just to get paid. Now I can create the invoice, collect the signature and send it out for payment all in one process. If I could also get customers to pay on time, that would make it even better but Housecall Pro has definitely come through for me.

Cons

Honestly not much to complain about. I just wish more of the available apps were automatically included.

Amazing Qbo integration

Pros

Using this product has been easy and it works really well with QBO. Our techs especially appreciate having all the information they need right at their fingertips while they're out in the field.

Cons

The only frustration I've run into has been with the customer service chat line which hasn't always been ideal. That said I was recently told they're now allowing phone calls and that should make getting support much faster and more convenient.

Integrates with QuickBooks

Pros

One of the best parts is how it sends everything over to QuickBooks Online once the integration is set up. That connection works really well and saves a lot of time.

Cons

The only feature I still miss from my previous software is the map view that showed all of my customers for the day in one place which made routing and scheduling much easier to plan.

Horrible support and pricing

Pros

Years ago, I actually enjoyed using it but after about six years it has really turned into something bad.

Cons

Customer support is easily the worst part of it and the pricing is terrible as well.

Made things easier for us

Pros

Cons

A few parts of the applications seem a little off although I can't clearly describe the issue myself. My office manager would probably be able to explain those details better.
