Fairly priced software

Pros

It's very simple to use, my technicians really enjoy working with it and the pricing is affordable.

Clear scheduling updates

Pros

Whenever I update the schedule, my employees can immediately see exactly what changed and when they're supposed to be working.

Cons

The thing that's missing is the ability to create custom text messages beyond the built-in automated ones sent to customers. I can schedule their appointments and the standard text goes out for that but I also usually send a reminder text the weekend before the appointment and this software doesn't let me do that. I'd really like to see that improved so I can send this important reminder to my customers.

Powerful reporting

Pros

Keeping track of jobs and planning everything out is incredibly simple with this software. It puts together just about any report you might need in seconds which saves a lot of time. The reporting tools, timecards, online booking and monthly calendar have all been really useful.

Cons

Notification setting can get frustrating. If you mark that a customer wants notifications, they end up receiving every message instead of being able to choose only certain ones. That becomes a problem with recurring clients especially when they keep getting review reminders after every cleaning and a bunch of job update messages they really do not need.

Reviews started rolling in

Pros

The system is very user-friendly. I began receiving customer reviews almost right away and had several come in within just a few days. That was a huge difference compared to the other software I used, where I didn't get a single review in more than a year. Billing is also much simpler since it can be handled directly through the platform and there are plenty of other useful advantages as well.

Cons

The only rough part at the beginning was the initial call which wasn't very impressive. I was first assigned to a brand-new employee who seemed to have very little training but once they switched me to someone else, everything went fine.

Always improving with useful updates

Pros

We really appreciate that new features keep getting added and it feels like they actually pay attention to customer feedback.

Cons

The email automation could use more flexibility and having additional options there would make it even better.

Professional proposals and strong reporting

Pros

Within minutes, I can send a polished proposal to a customer which has been a huge help. It also lets me keep up with sales, manage accounts receivable and handle all of my scheduling in one place. I've been using it for more than two years and the usability has been excellent. The reports are especially useful for tracking sales and gross margins.

Cons

Honestly I haven't run into any issues. It does everything I need it to do.

Hours saved every week

Pros

Running a business as a single mom means I'm juggling my crews while also handling everything in the office so having this program has been a huge help. The convenience it offers has honestly saved me several hours of office work every single week.

Cons

At first, I ran into some trouble getting it connected to QuickBooks. Once that was sorted out though, it's been amazing.

Reliable for organizing work orders

Pros

Working with several property management companies means we need a reliable way to organize work orders and the parent-child customer relationship setup has been essential for that. It's a really valuable feature and plays a big role in how we manage everything efficiently.

Cons

I'd still like to see predictive results added to every search field, along with a universal search option right on the dashboard.

Allows me to focus on important tasks

Pros

Getting 4 to 6 hours back in my day has been a total game changer. It frees me up to focus on other important tasks instead of getting tied up in admin work.

Cons

Would love to see an integration that helps optimize drive time between jobs by showing the best spot to fit in a new appointment.

One-stop shop for small businesses

Pros

Running a small business is a lot simpler with HCP because it covers so much in one place. It handles everything from scheduling and estimates to the final invoice so it really feels like a complete one-stop shop for us.

Cons

One thing that would make it even better is giving clients the option to pay any amount they want from their home computer especially since we collect draws throughout the project.

Customers love it

Pros

This has made work much easier and my customers really love using it.

Cons

There hasn't been much to complain about. The only thing I've noticed is that messaging customers used to work really well one-on-one but then it switched to putting multiple people in a single thread. I'd like to see it go back to the original setup.

Monitors sales

Pros

Keeping up with our service contracts and monitoring sales through this software has made a big difference in our gross income over the last year.

Cons

Would really like to see more flexibility when scheduling jobs on the calendar. If a job needs a specific amount of time, it would be helpful to click it and drag it down to block off that full time slot so the office staff can immediately see we're occupied. For example, if we schedule an install at 10:00 a.m. and expect it to take four hours, we should be able to place it at 10:00 and extend it through 2:00 p.m. to reserve that entire window on the schedule.

Gives techs visibility

Pros

Keeping the team on schedule has been amazing with this software. Our technicians can clearly see where they need to be and when their next job starts which makes the day run much better. The "OMW" message feature is especially useful and being able to start time tracking as soon as they arrive on site helps a lot too.

Cons

you can't switch the customer on an invoice after it's been created. When that comes up, we have to make the invoice again and adjust the number so everything matches correctly. It doesn't happen all the time but there are situations where we send the invoice to the owner and then they ask for it to be sent to the contractor instead and their name won't appear on the invoice.

Flat rate pricing is amazing

Pros

Having electrical flat rate pricing built into Housecall Pro has made putting together proposals incredibly faster and more convenient for me. It's honestly made my job feel 1000% easier.

Cons

At this point I haven't run into anything about this program that I dislike.

Consistently quick support

Pros

Ability to create invoices

Pros

Working in a residential housekeeping role, it turned out to be really efficient for what I needed. Scheduling clients was simple and being able to create invoices in the same system was a big plus.

Cons

Honestly I didn't come across any real downsides since it covered my personal needs well.

The team never disappoints

Pros

One of the best parts of using it has been how responsive the team is. Between the chat bubble and the Facebook groups, they stay on top of things and are always trying to improve the product for the people actually using it.

Cons

I'd still like to see more options when it comes to user-suggested updates and changes. More transparency around that process would be helpful especially if users could see what's currently in the pipeline. Our dry cleaning software has a forum where everyone gets a set number of votes for upcoming features and issues and something similar here would be really useful.

Professional growth with smart automation

Pros

Between the organizing tools, text messaging, job tracking and email automation, this software has really helped us operate more professionally, save a lot of time and grow the business. I'd absolutely recommend giving it a try.

Cons

The service plan feature still needs improvement. Setting up a service plan in the mobile app isn't very simple.
