Pros

Incompetence is Damaging my Business

Pros

When it works, it works well with minimal issues. However, when it works is not good enough.

Cons

The support team has only ever responded to issues with inconvenient manual workarounds. Their customer import doesn't work, so I have to send the report to an email, and they upload it on their end, but they can't guarantee how long it will take or how my notes and other fields will import. There's no option to add custom fields to jobs or accounts. Several bugs and issues go unacknowledged for days and then take days to fix, disrupting my business flow and causing errors for my customers. The last two days, there have been 15-30 minute waits just to get a reply to a support chat.

super convenient

Pros

Using Houscall Pro has been really convenient especially because it's simple to use. Being able to quickly look up customers from my phone or iPad makes the app very practical when I'm out and about.

Cons

It could still benefit from having a few more portals and I'd also like to see it work better with QuickBooks.

I like the ability to tag employees

Pros

The scheduling and invoicing features have been excellent and being able to tag each employee makes everything much more organized. It also helps a lot to track jobs while keeping the full history and photos all in one place.

Cons

I haven't come across anything I dislike at this point.

Time-saving admin favorite

Pros

From the admin side and out in the field, it's very simple to use. It saves a lot of time which lets you put more attention on other important tasks.

Cons

No drawbacks that I can think of.

Worth every penny

Pros

Switching to Housecall Pro ended up paying for itself. Before this, we were losing a lot of money dealing with paper receipts and relying on a shared calendar app. It's been really helpful to clearly see who still owes us money and sending invoices is quick and convenient. Customers can even enter their own car information through a link included with the bill which saves us time. We've had absolutely no problems with the Housecall Pro card readers. It also works well that we can still take checks and cash and simply mark those jobs as paid. Being able to pull up customer job history is another feature we use all the time. I would definitely recommend this service.

Cons

I'm not a fan of how the app calculates job totals. I'd really like a clearer breakdown of my own job totals or my co-workers' totals by month, as well as current year-to-date numbers, either combined or separated by employee. I also don't like that estimates are included in the total figure shown in the app.

User-friendly interface

Pros

Right from the start the interface has been very user friendly. For an all-in-one system to run a business, this is one of the best I've worked with. It's simple to navigate, works well for the crew in the field and feels very tech friendly overall. Customer service has also been excellent, any time I have a question, I send an email and usually get a reply back very quickly. I'd absolutely recommend it to other companies.

Cons

One thing I'd like to see improved is better feature availability across devices. Our company uses iPads in the field and computers in the office and there are still certain tools and functions that can only be accessed from the desktop version. It would be much better if more of those features were also available in the app.

Can run my operation from my phone or laptop

Pros

Everything is very simple and convenient to use and I can run my whole operation right from my phone or laptop. On top of that, they offer live support whenever I need help answering questions or sorting something out.

Cons

There have only been a few times when I ran into issues with the app and each time their team helped me resolve them with a solution.

top-tier service

Pros

Everything has been excellent especially the customer service. Updates are also done at convenient times which makes the experience even better.

Cons

The banking side is limited to the U.S. and doesn't support Canadian banks. Because of that, I can't accept payments and it won't allow funds to be converted to U.S. currency and then back to Canadian dollars. It's not worth the risk.

simple to pick up

Pros

Buyer Beware

Pros

Integrating this software with QuickBooks was a smooth and uncomplicated process. The setup was intuitive and well-guided, making it easy to connect and synchronize data between the two platforms. The integration didn't require a lot of technical knowledge, and I found the instructions to be clear and straightforward, allowing for a seamless connection that enhanced our accounting workflow.

Cons

This system works well for someone who sits at their computer and has a lot of time to message back and forth with support for a couple of days to resolve an issue, if you can get a resolution. They prefer to give you options that take more time away from running your company so they don't have to change or evolve the system to make things more efficient and provide all the information you need. For the last year and a half, I've been dealing with this company, and I'd rather call my cable or cell phone company than deal with their support team. They don't have a phone number for quick answers or responses. They also don't offer email integration with your domain, which most other software companies do when offering a web domain. They won't change anything you suggest, even though they say they listen. Listening and doing are two different things. This company has set my business back due to their unwillingness to evolve. Truly check around; other companies might charge more, but I wish I had seen this review before signing up because the extra money would have saved a lot of wasted time, and time is money. They don't care about your time.

Not difficult to implement

Pros

Getting around the software feels very simple and using it hasn't caused any trouble in my day-to-day operations. It was simple to implement and has fit into my routine without any issues.

Cons

One thing I'd still want is the ability to make edits right from the reporting screen, like updating tags or adding and deleting information without having to go elsewhere.

we don't miss service calls anymore

Pros

The scheduling feature has been a lifesaver and I don't miss service calls anymore. I no longer have to stress about whether a client was booked or not. It's also really helpful that customers get a text when I schedule them, when I'm on the way, when the job starts and when it's finished. Honestly I love pretty much everything about it.

Cons

Since I need to mention something, the process of adding an employee could be better. I had to try a different email address because it kept saying the original one was already taken, even though he never received the invite and even checked his spam folder. I even tested it with my personal email and still didn't get anything, hoping I could change the email afterward.

Helpful reports and happy techs

Pros

Simple to work with, includes useful reporting and our field technicians enjoy using it.

gets better every year

Pros

After using this software actively for more than five years, I can say it was solid from the beginning and has only gotten better over time. I really appreciate tools that keep improving and this company has done a good job staying on top of usability and customer satisfaction in a timely way.

Cons

At this point, I really have not run into any downsides. It fits our needs very well just as it is.

covers everything from scheduling to payment collection

Pros

Running a small service business feels a lot more manageable with this software. It has been a real game changer, covering everything from scheduling jobs to collecting payments in a way that feels simple and professional.

Cons

Every now and then there's a small issue when processing credit card payments but it usually comes down to Wi-Fi problems rather than the software itself.

can track employee locations

Pros

Every day, this is the tool I rely on for scheduling and billing. Being able to accept credit cards right through invoices is really convenient and sending estimates that can quickly be converted into jobs once approved saves a lot of time. It's also helpful that I can track employee locations while they're clocked in and see where they are when they clock in and out.

Cons

They tend to nickel-and-dime you for extra features and they change the packages too often which makes everything more confusing.
