Love watching drivers on the map with exact routes

Pros

I really like being able to see drivers displayed on the map along with various viewing options. It's great to watch the exact routes they are taking.

Cons

Unfortunately I can't view any alternative routes on the app which would be really useful for roadworks, accidents or bad weather.

We use it for our sign installation crew

Pros

I find it easy to manually plan my team's daily routes. We rely on this app to assign our sign-install crew so they can repair damaged signs across the council's network.

Cons

Would like an option that flags duplicate locations in the list beneath the map whenever duplicates exist so I can spot and resolve them quickly.

Quick access to customer details

Pros

We see high customer and staff satisfaction because our buyers always know exactly when their orders will arrive and can plan ahead. Our delivery team has instant access to customer details, helping ensure a quick delivery.

Cons

We're very seasonal. Most months are relatively slow. We get swamped around Easter and Christmas but are quieter during much of the year. At peak times we need two or three drivers yet we're only licensed for one vehicle. That limits our efficiency and we don't want a second license for just a few weeks.

Builds precise routes

Pros

I'm impressed with how it builds very precise routes and gives accurate timelines. It also lets me set specific scheduled appointments and plan routes around them. The price isn't prohibitive and customers get notified with real-time tracking when I'm on my way.

Cons

Having an 'avoid highways' setting would be helpful and I wish the app included that.

Lets me duplicate routes

Pros

I depend heavily on being able to duplicate whole routes and single stops which is vital to how we operate. We also get great value managing multiple drivers.

Cons

I'm annoyed that pricing has increased because of add-ons like the live features which many companies, ours included simply don't require.

Exactly what we needed for our new business

Pros

After moving overseas and buying an online organic food store, we had to map out delivery routes across a huge swath of Queensland and OptimoRoute turned out to be precisely the tool we were looking for.

Cons

I noticed the reverse-route feature needs work. Whenever I request a route to be flipped, the timings go wrong and the schedule shows incorrect time estimates.

Saves us a lot of hours every week

Pros

We began relying on this tool about six years ago to replace a custom JavaScript and route-planning setup plus manually loaded GPS devices. The fast import, mapping and distribution of routes cut out many hours of manual effort when organizing pickup runs, sometimes for as many as six trucks handling up to 450 stops each Saturday across three Saturdays every January for our charity fundraiser. Being able to track the trucks in real time and tweak routes while they're underway has also been hugely helpful.

Cons

I wish the 'avoid U-turns' option and the 'avoid crossing street' option were treated as distinct routing constraints. We pick up on a lot of side streets where crossing the road poses no issue but making U-turns in a 16-foot truck is awkward. I'd also like the per-stop duration to allow seconds and tenths of seconds instead of only whole seconds.

Pros

We like the route optimization, the driver app, the "driver on the way" text notifications and the automated driver assignment.

Cons

Smooth onboarding

Pros

Once I've gone through the initial training, it became fairly simple to use for me. The onboarding was excellent and overall I find the interface mostly user-friendly.

Cons

I still feel like the software doesn't fully address the specific needs of my industry. More often than not, I find myself having to do extra manual work or rely on supplementary tools to compensate.

Well designed product

Pros

The product feels simple and user-friendly. It's clearly been carefully designed. The team was a huge help when I was getting started. After I got more experienced, I didn't need the guidance and everything ran smoothly.

Cons

We're unable to plan routes that include multiple depots within the same country. Our operation depends on more than 40 separate depots/collection points. It would be fantastic if the system allowed us to add them directly to routes.

Takes me minutes to plan everything

Pros

My team and I keep beehives in people's backyards. Before I discovered this software, I used to spend endless hours staring at Google Maps, plotting each stop by hand. I honestly thought no software could handle all the variables we need. With OptimoRoute I can specify a date range for hive visits, note the days customers prefer and mark where our beekeepers live so routes get as efficient as possible. Tasks that once ate up hours now wrap up in about 15-20 minutes. I also really appreciate the customizable emails and text messages, the mobile driver app and the ability to add custom fields.

Cons

I'd love it if there were a built-in calendar view. A Google Calendar sync would be a game changer for our scheduling. Right now the timeline layout makes it hard to get a quick sense of the week or a particular day at a glance. Also, the ETAs that go out in automatic texts can be inaccurate, sometimes they miss by an hour or even more which throws off customers.

Useful tool for complex planning

Pros

I was looking for a way to plan routes without the usual 10-point limitation and OptimoRoute didn't enforce that cap. By being a bit creative in how I set up my stops, I managed to put together every route I needed, even one that stretched across several days. That flexibility really made the tool useful for my more complex planning.

Cons

Honestly, I'd have loved if there were a free tier that offered just the basic features. For my purposes I only need to plan the more complicated routes that include lots of waypoints. I don't need multi-driver scheduling, vehicle types or other advanced fleet management capabilities. The free trial was excellent and let me test everything I needed but if I have to plan similar routes again later I probably won't be able to keep using it because it doesn't make sense for me to purchase a full paid month just for occasional use. In short, the pricing is too steep for my sporadic needs so I'll likely have to search for an alternative when the trial ends which is disappointing.

Appreciate that I could complete the entire setup on my own and the app feels really user-friendly to use.

Cons
