“No technical knowledge required”
Pros
It doesn't require any special technical skills beyond basic Excel knowledge which makes it really accessible. After I import all my addresses and set the number of drivers, I just hit optimize and the routes are generated. I can print individual route sheets for each driver and best of all I can export those routes straight into Google Maps so the drivers literally only have to hop in the car and drive to their stops.
Cons
I haven't faced any real disadvantages so far and it meets my needs.

“They listen to customers”
Pros
It is very easy to use for both office staff and field personnel.
Cons
I don't have any specific issues to report. Over the past twelve months I've noticed several improvements and that convinces me the company listens to customers and continues adding features based on user feedback.

“Simple to import spreadsheets”
Pros
I genuinely liked how simple it was to import spreadsheets and set up route planning for several drivers at once.
Cons
For me the trouble wasn't really the software as a whole but the way routes get pushed to drivers' phones via Google Maps. Occasionally it routed us to the wrong addresses or behaved a bit glitchily. I think a dedicated app would handle this much more reliably.

“Need more flexible pricing options”
Pros
Running a small business that delivers meals weekly to my clients. OptimoRoute makes it simpler for me to import the week's orders, design efficient routes and improve communication with recipients.
Cons
I run a very small operation so I'd really like more flexible pricing options. Enabling recipients to follow the driver's progress is crucial when we deliver perishable meals yet our weekly delivery volume stays relatively low.

“Ease of mapping”
Pros
Mapping my routes is very easy which makes it simple for me to reach my customers in the quickest possible timeframe.
Cons
Honestly, I couldn't find any faults with the program. Everything worked well and there wasn't anything about it that I considered poor.

“Shows inaccurate estimated time”
Pros
It holds the promise of finally solving a persistent logistics headache.
Cons
I keep finding that the app's 'optimized' routes often loop back on themselves instead of following a sensible order and on top of that the travel time it shows between stops is frequently much shorter than what my navigation app actually reports.

“Fast optimization”
Pros
I found the software really convenient to set up and use. Its mobile tracking feature is simple and works well and none of our drivers had trouble using it. The optimisation runs very quickly, letting me produce multiple what-if scenarios in short order.
Cons
I find the location database really hard to keep tidy because it seems to create a new entry every time there's even a minor change which ends up with lots of duplicate records for the same place in the gazetteer. That clutter makes me spend extra time cleaning up entries instead of focusing on planning. Another major irritation is that if you accidentally copy or delete orders there isn't an "undo" option and that can be absolutely disastrous when I'm under tight deadlines and need to reverse a mistake quickly. From a strategic perspective I'm also hamstrung. In our situation I would need to build a large, one-off schedule that forces me to add the number of drivers and assign costs but because I only require those extra drivers for that single event it doesn't make financial sense to pay for an extra month of drivers just to accommodate the system. Operationally the biggest issue I face is that the recorded hours worked don't include implant and explant time that would apply to any driver so I can't rely on the system reports to calculate accurate hours. Because there's no way to add time for vehicle checks, refuelling, debriefs and similar tasks, I'm left unable to produce correct time summaries for payroll or performance reviews.

“Integrates with major mapping applications”
Pros
I'm impressed by how user-friendly it is. The app displays all delivery details, integrates with any major mapping application and lets me call or text customers directly from within the app.
Cons
Importing from WooCommerce is a little fiddly. It demands custom tweaks and several steps to get everything imported correctly.

“Square space orders should be integrated directly”
Pros
When COVID hit, our wholesale outlets closed so we were forced to begin delivering our shellfish directly to customers' homes ourselves.
Cons
I'd love a way to have our orders from Squarespace automatically integrated instead of handling them manually because the Excel import feature doesn't work well with how our orders are structured.

“Helpful with large number of deliveries”
Pros
When my team needs to hand out a high volume of files to our field agents, it can spin up trips very fast and I appreciate being able to view each file's route plotted clearly on the map.
Cons
Every so often I notice the trips aren't spread evenly across our agents and I can't figure out why Optimoroute chose such an unbalanced allocation. We usually print the route maps so it would really help to be able to pick or change the color assigned to each agent. Some of the default shades don't reproduce well on paper and make routes hard to distinguish. Also because the product seems geared toward US addressing, it can be annoying when certain addresses aren't recognized, especially rural delivery (RD) addresses in our area which the system repeatedly fails to identify.

“Customer Service stands out”
Pros
This tool saved me so many hours. It's super simple to add and remove stops, set schedules, lock down routes, keep tabs on drivers and watch live tracking, basically all the features I need. Honestly, the customer support might be the highlight. Whenever I've run into a problem figuring something out, they've replied really quickly.
Cons
I honestly couldn't find anything I disliked about this program. It's really easy to handle and the support team is outstanding, genuinely top-notch service every time I've reached out.

Pros
I find the app really easy to use and appreciate its low costs. Overall it runs smoothly and does what I need.
Cons
Every now and then I notice the app doesn't recognize locations correctly so I always have to double-check that I'm selecting the right 'Dorpstraat' for the correct town.

“Gives customers peace of mind”
Pros
As a driver, I save a lot of time using this app and it gives customers peace of mind knowing their groceries are on the way. I also really like how smoothly it integrated with my iPhone. It's handy that I can download reports and pull up the driving delivery schedule whenever I need it.
Cons
I sometimes find it confusing to figure out where to go when I have to make sudden changes on the fly. For example, if I need to switch to a different navigation app quickly or edit a few stops, the process isn't always clear and can slow me down.

“Organizes deliveries into right sequence”
Pros
We really appreciate that it organizes every pickup and delivery into the right sequence and even provides time estimates. The standout, hands-down, is the live tracking feature! That lets me ring our customers and share up-to-the-minute arrival windows throughout the day if we run into traffic or if we're actually ahead of schedule. It's totally transformed how we stay in touch with both our drivers and our clients. Plus, it helps prevent the all-too-common problem of over-scheduling which has been a huge relief for our team.
Cons
I'm finding that it doesn't understand that our truck needs to be cleared of deliveries before we can take on new pickups which I realize is probably specific to how we operate. If this isn't unique to us, adding the ability to account for that constraint would be an excellent enhancement and really helpful for our workflow.

“Doesnt have the option to hover over delivery points”
Pros
I was impressed by how quickly I could get everything set up initially and how simple it was to configure the upload.
Cons
For the moment it only displays the 'ship to' information and I need to be able to hover over each delivery point to view what items are being delivered to that address and which services were requested. Because of this limitation, I consider it a temporary stopgap until I can find another solution that satisfies all of our needs.

Pros
The app delivers nearly everything that pricier vendors provide. It's simple to manage and I haven't heard any complaints from the drivers who use it.

“Satisfied with the performance”
Pros
Working as the logistics manager for our food company, we needed ways to expand beyond selling in grocery stores once the coronavirus hit so we launched a neighborhood home delivery service. We tested several route-planning apps before choosing OptimoRoute and since switching we haven't found a reason to replace it.
Cons
One drawback I've noticed is that relying solely on the automatic route generator makes it tricky to plan several routes at the same time for multiple drivers operating in the same city. More often than not, I end up tweaking the suggested itineraries a little to get the plan to run more efficiently.
