Allows adding multiple drivers while planning

Pros

I really like that I can have multiple drivers available when I'm planning routes, that's super convenient. What I value most is the core feature that plans routes for optimal efficiency which I truly appreciate.

Cons

I find the interface feels a little dated in how it operates. I think it could use a refresh to make it more user-friendly.

Easy to import my locations into the web app

Pros

I'm glad how simple it is to bring my locations and personalized fields into the web application.

Cons

Trying to modify a plan that's already been sent out and then having the system replot a new route to reflect those edits is pretty clumsy. On top of that, several features force you to repeat steps that could easily be combined into one flow. For instance, when I select four stops intending to edit them together and then unselect them from within the edit view, the interface leaves me stuck with no further options. I end up having to return to the edit screen after removing them from the route and only then can I assign them to another driver.

Appreciate the simplicity

Pros

Love how simple everything is. Also the price is very reasonable for what it offers.

Cons

I don't like that I'm charged extra to send SMS messages to customers even though I'm already paying a monthly subscription. I'd also love a built-in feature to automatically notify customers when their package has been delivered.

Has everything we need

Pros

For me it's simple to use, provides everything I need, is affordable and remains stable.

Cons

I'm not completely certain but it would be great if drivers could add or edit addresses directly in the driver app instead of going through the desktop. Also, the SMS credits are fairly expensive. Even though we use a corporate account, Optimoroute still applies TAX when we buy SMS credit which feels unfair and increases our costs.

Amazing lock feature

Pros

I find it really handy that I can either import data easily or manually add entries when needed. I also appreciate the lock feature that prevents changes after routes are sent but still lets you add late orders when required.

Cons

We can't set a 'return to store' option for drivers' lunch breaks which is frustrating. While it's possible to schedule a lunch, we can't pick the depot as that stop so we have to manually insert an extra 'stop' for their lunches.

Uncomplicated system with simple steps

Pros

What I really appreciated was that I could pull delivery data straight from my website. The whole process is just two steps, download the export from the site and then upload that file into OptimoRoute. After that the software takes care of the route optimization and still lets me tweak things easily to suit my needs.

Cons

I've had a few glitches when I try to adjust routes that are already in progress. On one occasion drivers out on the road lost their assigned routes and had to rely on the printed manual sheet we generate (which is actually useful for several reasons). That only happened once and I don't know why because otherwise the system is usually very user-friendly.

Takes the guesswork out of deliveries

Pros

Honestly, the route mapping is the single most helpful feature for me because it takes all the guesswork out of deliveries. Whenever a route needs to be altered, I can do it quickly. On top of that, being able to split a route between drivers based on time, percentage or miles gives us huge flexibility and efficiency gains.

Cons

Wish the app could integrate with our Pantry Program and our GPS systems because that level of connectivity would be a dream and would reduce redundant work. It would also be fantastic to have a place to upload photos, capture customer delivery signatures and include a timecard feature.

Had a positive effect on our productivity

Pros

Using this program has gotten rid of my routing headaches and has had a big impact on our team's productivity. I've found it simple to create routes and push them out to staff every day. The mobile app runs smoothly, it's quick and simple to operate. The cost feels fair and the efficiency gains cover the price easily. Overall, it's taken a lot of stress out of my role and made daily work far more manageable.

Cons

We often begin and end our runs from different places and I wish there was a quicker way to save and select common start/stop locations. I'd also like the option for drivers to add notes specific to a stop when it's needed so important details aren't lost. It would be great if the route timing automatically recalculated based on when a driver actually starts their route so they could tell whether they're on schedule. When someone has to leave a little earlier or later, the fixed scheduled times don't reflect reality and end up being less helpful.

Missing the option to capture a recipient's signature

Pros

the app is very user-friendly, simple to handle and makes building routes simple and quick.

Cons

I've had issues where there's no option to capture a recipient's signature when confirming delivery and even when I mark a customer as closed on specific days the system still allows that customer to be included on the route.

allows me to import waypoints and assemble routes

Pros

Every day I build numerous routes for different locations and there are no routine stops. It lets me import waypoints, assemble routes and dispatch them to my drivers quickly, accurately and consistently.

Cons

I would love the ability to create a Custom Excel Export where I choose exactly which columns are exported and even tweak the layout so I don't have to reformat the spreadsheet for my specific use case. I'm not suggesting the current exports should have predicted our exact workflow, just that offering this customization would be really helpful and something I wish were part of the product.

Impressive support

Pros

I'm really impressed with the support! We had very specific requirements for daily and weekly route planning and Optimoroute managed to accommodate them after some adjustments made by their outstanding support team. I'm happy with its performance and how simple the drivers find it to operate.

Cons

I've found the learning curve to be somewhat steep but their support has been phenomenal, even on weekends. I can't emphasize enough how impressed I am with that side of the product. During the Covid crisis their team consistently stood by us and helped whenever needed.

Can split a list for drivers

Pros

I love that I can add drivers in just a couple of clicks, split a long list across several drivers and even edit each driver's start and end locations on the fly.

Cons

It's tricky to transfer individual stops from one driver to another because it requires extreme care to avoid mistakes.

Lets me adjust an address geo-location

Pros

What I like is being able to adjust an address' geo-location so alleyways or driveways that sit off a different street (i.e., the service location vs the actual address) are correct. I also enjoy the software's features, route uploads and its overall ease of use.

Cons

Maps feel out-of-date and I practically always end up manually correcting the route. It identifies paths that aren't roads, flags blocked streets or even mistakes a creek or wash (in Arizona) for an actual road.

Simple driver interface

Pros

This tool was simple to set up and very user-friendly. I find the driver interface particularly simple to operate. I get real-time updates on driver locations and delivery progress. Uploading orders is painless. The platform scales well so I can control expenses efficiently as demand grows.

Cons

I wish there were more tutorial videos to guide me through features. It would also help if the team released product updates and new capabilities more regularly. Occasionally the system assigns similar street names to incorrect zip codes or cities which has caused some frustrating misroutes for me.

Love being able to copy items and adjust routes

Pros

The ability to quickly copy and paste items is a huge time-saver and I particularly value the flexibility to adjust the route on the fly as needed

Cons

What frustrates me is that the app drops me onto a block and then, thirty stops later, it routes me back to that exact block which feels inefficient and confusing. I'd really like clearer, higher-quality printouts that show the whole map view because the current print options don't give me a useful overview.

I'm really pleased that I can upload several spreadsheets for a single day's deliveries and the system automatically sorts and organizes all the details for me.

Cons

We feel that each subscription tier should include access for two drivers. Previously we relied on the built-in email and SMS alerts but they frequently ended up marked as spam so nowadays we handle all delivery notifications ourselves.
