Sumsub Features
User Verification
The User Verification feature lets companies verify identities by using customizable KYC workflows. It supports ID Verification, Non-Doc Verification, Liveness and Face Match, NFC Verification, Age Verification, Video Identification, Database Checks, and Qualified Electronic Signatures. The feature can verify more than 14,000 document types from 220+ countries and territories, while the workflows can be tailored to different markets and risk requirements.
ID Verification
Sumsub’s ID Verification checks identification documents to confirm their validity and authenticity. It supports various document types and uses OCR to extract data from different scripts, including Arabic, Hindi, and Cyrillic. The feature also includes Non-Doc verification, Database Validation, Auto Capture, Document Liveness, and Fast-Fail checks as part of its verification process.
Business Verification
Corporate registers and ownership records are checked to verify businesses and the people behind them. Sumsub also verifies beneficial owners and directors, while configurable questionnaires are used to collect additional company information. Its business verification workflow can read corporate documents, support manual reviews, and run AML screening against businesses and their owners in more than 220 countries.
Liveness And Deepfake Detection
During identity checks, Sumsub analyzes facial movements, texture, and depth to confirm that a real person is present. Its liveness technology matches faces with IDs and can also be used for identity confirmation or two-factor authentication. The feature detects deepfakes, lookalikes, masks, photos, videos, and AI-generated avatars by using biometric and pixel-level analysis.
Transaction Monitoring
Suspicious activity is identified by analyzing transaction patterns against configurable monitoring rules and risk signals. Sumsub includes 600+ premade rules and allows teams to create custom ones without coding. Its AI-driven anomaly detection can identify unusual patterns beyond standard rules, and flagged transactions can be sent to Case Management for further review.
Device Intelligence
Device Intelligence analyzes device fingerprints, behavior patterns, and network signals to identify risky activity in real time. It can flag fake or duplicate users, detect multiple accounts linked to the same device or network, and identify suspicious logins, VPNs, and remote access tools. The feature also assigns device and behavior risk scores during signups, transactions, and account changes.

“Top-notch documentation”
Pros
The documentation is excellent. We had the Web SDK running in our staging environment in under an afternoon. The webhooks have been dependable and the sandbox mode is genuinely useful when testing edge cases.
Cons
A few of the more advanced API features could use clearer documentation. There are occasional false positives that need manual review but the dashboard makes them simple to manage.

“Saves us a lot of time”
Pros
Automating our KYC workflows and being able to tailor verification rules by region has saved us a huge amount of time. The interface feels clean and user-friendly and the integration went well thanks to the well-written API documentation.
Cons
At times, support replies take a bit longer during busy periods. It would also help to have clearer pricing details for custom volume plans.

“Great for validating documents”
Pros
It does a really solid job of validating documents and there are plenty of settings available to fine-tune how strict the verification process should be.
Cons
Some steps and screens can't be customized or redesigned so we have very limited control over the overall user experience. One thing I'd strongly recommend is adding a loading screen or spinner in the SDK apps while validation is being completed. The web version handles this better but in the apps, users can end up leaving the Sumsub flow before all the steps are finished.
