smooth and reliable tool

Pros

Calamari is really simple to use and I find it runs almost bug-free.

Cons

I miss a timesheet report and the option to group data by month and employee.

Simple but sometimes freezes

Pros

UI is really easy and simple to use. Any employee, including myself, can check my working hours, vacation days or days I was absent at any moment.

Cons

The application occasionally freezes especially during breaks which really frustrates me.

Interactive with great support

Pros

We appreciate how interactive the software is, the helpful customer support during setup and for any follow-up issues, the request-tracking, built-in calendar, timely email notifications for time-off requests and the overall cost.

Cons

I feel it has worked out really well and I haven't found any drawbacks. Whenever we faceed a problem, I called customer service and they promptly fixed any bugs for us.

Simplifies team leave management

Pros

Using it has simplified the whole task of administering employee leave from our side. Now we can check our team calendar and immediately see which colleagues will be away and at what times. It provides a structured, formal approach to leave management for us. Previously, we'd dig through email threads trying to determine when a leave request was filed and who signed off on it but now every detail lives in one centralized place. The response from people on our team has been very positive , several have told me directly that it's far easier for them to request and track time off as well.

Cons

Haven't come across any issues with this software so far.

smooth setup but app needs more features

Pros

Its easy to set up and the interface is very user-friendly, the mobile app makes requesting and approving simple and it syncs with Office 365.

Cons

While using it, I noticed the layout in places especially the calendar, could use a refresh, the phone app feels limited and could use extra features and I'd like a more granular admin role instead of just employee or full admin.

Flawless pairing with iBeacon

Pros

In my experience the app handles employee hours, vacation days and sick leave flawlessly. It also integrates smoothly with an iBeacon. I bought and set up an iBeacon then paired it with the free Calamari app on every employee's phone. Because of that setup, the system logs each person the moment they walk in and records their final exit from the office at the end of the day.

Cons

I can't really think of anything major that annoyed me. The only hiccup was removing staff who had left the company which gave me trouble but the support team responded quickly and were very helpful and friendly.

Good features for the price

Pros

With my small business expanding, I'm checking out various platforms to handle hourly staff. I've found this platform easy to use and feel it offers solid features considering the price making it a good fit so far for our needs.

Cons

I can't think of anything majorly negative at this point. I haven't been using the service long enough to know if problems will crop up so any future issues would depend on how responsive and capable their support team turns out to be.

Transformed our leave process

Pros

Switching from our old manual system made everything so much easier for both managers and employees. The leave request process is now simple and honestly, no one in the company has any real complaints about it. When we've had configuration questions or run into issues, their support team has been quick to help and really personal in there assistance. Overall we're happy with how it's working and plan to keep using it.

Cons

The setup process isn't always easy, some configuration options left me scratching my head, though support was there to help when I got stuck.

simple to use but rigid reports

Pros

It is easy-to-use tool for tracking employee attendance. It was effort-free to set up and link with GSuite which really helps because staff don't need to create separate accounts. Leave requests are clear and concise and I appreciate being able to edit, remove or add entries when mistakes crop up , that feature is a major benefit.

Cons

My biggest frustration is the rigid export options for reports , data is simply dumped into an excel file with no way for me to pick or omit specific fields. Also, breaks need more flexibility, there should be a setting to either include break time in total hours or automatically subtract it because employees sometimes forget to log breaks. Finally whenever an admin edits an entry it's critical that their name be recorded or shown as the person who modified the record for accountability.

Great Slack integration, needs Google Calendar

Pros

I loved that Calamari hooks into Slack which sold our team on it right away. Being able to submit time-off requests and approve or deny them directly inside Slack removed so many steps and made the workflow far easier. On top of that, I depended on the reporting features a lot across the company.

Cons

My only real wish is that there was a shared team calendar syncing with Google rather than forcing us to sign into the site. Our group uses Google Calendar extensively for scheduling meetings so having an integrated team calendar would have been incredibly useful and would have saved us time.

Works in many countries, slow updates

Pros

I really appreciate that this software runs in multiple countries and gives us so many ways to customize its behavior. It hasn't been able to cover every feature we want but the support team has gone absolutely above and beyond to help us reach our objectives often proposing practical workarounds or adjustments that bring things very close to what we need.

Cons

Some functional updates take quite a while to implementbut I'm aware that's part of the territory.

easy with Slack, design okay

Pros

its super simple to use and I really appreciate that it ties into Slack that actually helps me build the habit much more easily!

Cons

Simple setup

Pros

Really like the overall layout and how it improves the user experience. It's easy for me to add staff and tweak elements and I found setting up 'Terminals' to be quick and painless. The leave management feels tidy and works well and overall the setup process was simple for me.

Cons

I am seeing some small bugs when we use our iBeacons which is annoying. I also don't like that I have to wait to find out when people clock out because it's not shown in real time. There's no way for me to disable the mobile app's start times and I'd really appreciate having geolocation for mobile check-ins so I can verify whether staff are actually where they say they are.

best choice for small business, can't edit requests

Pros

This is an excellent, cost-effective option for our small business. I found the onboarding process and customer support to be outstanding. The reporting features are solid and give me the exact data we require. There's also a reasonable level of customization available.

Cons

Can't edit requests once submitted , I have to cancel them and create new ones. There's also no way to set blackout dates for periods when I don't want staff requesting time off. The interface can feel a bit awkward to use at times although I usually manage by consulting the FAQs which tend to address those issues.

very flexible solution

Pros

I appreciate that staff can easily clock in and out either through Slack or on the website. It gives them flexibility.

Cons

What bothers me most is that we can't adjust the timesheet report ahead of time. there's no way to pick which categories to include when it generates. For example, I'd like to pull only Hours Worked, Breaks and Overtime. I also dislike that we don't have the option to define overtime as anything over 40 hours in a workweek, instead it currently triggers over 8 hours in a single workday.

easy for everyone & saves time

Pros

My staff and I find the platform incredibly easy to use which has been a massive help to our team! The reporting tools are excellent and exporting reports to excel is quick and simple.

Cons

perfect for small biz but US overtime tricky

Pros

For my small business, the leave tracking, accounting and other features have been really useful and make managing operations much easier.

Cons

At first I found the setup a bit confusing and time-consuming although their support staff were very helpful and guided me through the process. One major downside for me is that the time-clock feature doesn't offer the customizable options needed to automatically calculate overtime according to particular US labor laws.
