Not the best for payroll

Pros

Mobile clock-in and clock-out for hourly employees has been a helpful feature especially with the geofencing option that verifies they are actually on-site when entering time. It's also useful that I can set up a personalized onboarding task list for new hires and have them upload I-9 documents directly during the pre-hire stage. The Community feature has potential for team collaboration as well, although adoption has been slower than I expected.

Cons

The biggest frustration has been that the services promised upfront have not matched what we actually received and the app functionality is very limited. Payroll tools have been disappointing and HR has to enter too much repetitive information for tasks ranging from onboarding integration with Employee Navigator to something as basic as a promotion with a pay change. We were also told customer support would be local and readily available but aside from a handful of interactions, support has felt disengaged and many responses stop at saying the issue will be looked into. Reporting is another weak point becauseitis not user friendly and every report I need seems to require building from scratch. There are also additional reports I would like to have but I have only been told that my suggestions for improvement have been noted which is frustrating. On the team collaboration side, I was excited about using a personalized pre-hire about you questionnaire that could automatically be shared with a future employee's manager butitdoes not carry over as a separate item into the employee profile. Managers can only seeitduring onboarding and once the person is officially hired, itgets buried in a summary that also includes private details like direct deposit and I-9 information makingitinaccessible to the direct manager.

responsive support that delivers :))

Pros

Whenever questions come up, the support team is there and I can either reach out directly or schedule time with our account representative. If they don't have the answer right away, they always follow up, find the information and do everything they can to help.

Cons

There's still quite a bit of manual work involved althoughithas been improving over time. When I first started usingit especially compared with other platforms, itdefinitely felt much more hands-on and manual.

Does more than we expected!

Pros

Having everything in one system is a huge plus. It goes beyond payroll and also covers training, recruiting and expense reports which keeps things much more organized. We're able to use it both on desktop and on our phones and the mobile app is especially helpful for employees who spend most of their time on the road.

Cons

From the administrator side, itcan be less user friendly than I'd prefer at times. There are certain features I only use occasionally and whenever I need them again, I usually have to spend a little time reminding myself how they work.

responsive support every time

Pros

Whenever something comes up, I can call and reach a live representative right away and they help me fix the issue immediately.

Cons

One frustrating part is realizing after I have already left work that I forgot to submit payroll because I have to turn around and go back to the office to doitfrom my desktop. That function still isn't available in the mobile app for us. Pulling reports can also be a bit hard. Simple reports are fine but anything more complex usually means calling for assistance. I'd really likeitto be more user-friendly.

Payroll and reports are a win

Pros

A full year into using it, I must say it has made a real difference in my job as a one-person HR department. The customer support has been excellent and it's much simpler now to answer employee questions about pay and leave than it ever was with our old spreadsheet and DOS-based payroll system. The reports that were set up for us, along with new features I keep discovering, have made my work both easier and more enjoyable. I had actually been looking forward to retirement but this has made me think I may stick around a few more years. Thanks, Paylocity!

Cons

Getting everything started was tough because, as a one-person department, itwas hard to keep up with my regular responsibilities while also giving enough time and attention to the team. During that phase, I often felt rushed and like my concerns weren't really being heard. Now that we're in year two, we've had to go back and fix some things which obviously isn't ideal, though we are working throughit. The setup team also didn't seem as informed about the government-related requirements we needed support with, although that did improve over time.

Customer support is top class

Pros

Getting in touch with customer support by p Paylocity hone is simple and the follow-up emails are really helpful because they confirm the issue has been taken care of.

Cons

A few features are currently going unused because of the permission limits our company has in place. During implementation, we were excited about the functionality and didn't really think through the need to grant supervisors certain levels of access.

clean layout and reliable compliance

Pros

Right from the start, I find it very simple to work with. The interface is clean organized and makes it easy to locate whatever you need. They also take care of all of our IRS filings which has really helped us stay compliant and make sure everything is submitted on time.

Cons

One thing to note is thatitrolls out updates pretty often. That's usually a positive sinceitshows they pay attention to feedback and are willing to improveit but at timesitcan be a little difficult to keep up with all the changes.

Has some issues for sure

Pros

Switching from a PEO to Paylocity has been worth it from a cost perspective. Saving money was one of the biggest reasons for the move and it's definitely delivering on that. With a team of 40, we're cutting close to $90k a year in service fees which is a huge benefit.

Cons

Implementation has come with a few challenges especially whenitcame to setting up payroll deductions correctly. The Time & Labor and Performance modules still look a bit off at this point and the design isn't fully consistent from one module to another. That saiditdoes seem like updates and improvements are happening regularly.

Pretty easy to use tool

Pros

Using this product has been very easy because it's user friendly and simple to navigate. The community feature was also a major advantage when I was choosing a payroll provider since I needed a convenient way to communicate with all employees.

Cons

One frustration is that when I reach out to my rep for help, she usually just sends me a how-to guide. When I am trying to do something new, I really need more direct, hands-on support.

fantastic support and mobile tools

Pros

Compared with our previous provider, Paylocity's customer service has been on a completely different level. It took us a month or two to get comfortable with the system but once we did, it became very user-friendly and I have really enjoyed the range of features it offers. The mobile app has been excellent as well and my employees haven't had any trouble tracking their time either through the app or on their computers.

Cons

At the beginning, there was definitely a lot to absorb so onboarding felt a bit overwhelming. I tried to rush through it even though my rep advised me not to and that honestly made it harder. It's really better to take your time because there's a lot to learn. Even now, four months later, I still have some training modules left to finish.

reporting feels frustrating..

Pros

When it comes to the recruiting side of Paylocity, moving candidates through each stage works well and the outreach messaging has been effective for staying in touch with applicants.

Cons

Reporting is where it falls short for me. It does not feel user friendly which makes the whole process confusing and sometimes leaves me unsure about how reliable the data really is. I would also like better usability around creating and sharing repeatable form templates with hiring stakeholders especially so they can review recruiter feedback and then add their own interview notes into the same form, keeping everything together in one document for record-keeping.

user-friendly portal and time savings

Pros

Using this HRIS has been a really positive experience. The platform is very user-friendly and I like that the team keeps working on updates and improvements. One of the best parts for me is how easy open enrollment becomes through the portal once the setup is complete. I also really value the automated file feeds because, after they're configured, they remove the need to manually enter information on carrier websites which ends up saving a lot of time.

Cons

Support for benefits hasn't been particularly strong from what I have seen. On the other hand, when I reach out about other types of issues, the support team is usually responsive and genuinely helpful. I'd also like to see better reporting capabilities especially since there are extra fees for custom report setups which can be frustrating when you're trying to pull the exact data you need.

helpful customer service

Pros

Whenever we run into something we cannot fix on our own, their support team jumps in right away and works through it with us. On top of that the whole system feels very user-friendly and doesn't take much time to learn or teach to others.

Cons

A lot of the things that used to be challenging are already being developed or seem to be coming soon. The biggest improvement I'd still want is a more user friendly reporting feature in certain areas.

poor support and long delays

Pros

The platform itself is easy to use. Navigation is simple, information is easy to locate and the reports are detailed and readily available. The pricing for the services also offers good value. When you happen to get a really capable representative on the phone, the support can be pleasant.

Cons

Support is very limited and there never seems to be a manager available when one is needed. The company feels disorganized overall. Not everyone appears to be trained well enough to handle full client needs so one team often seems unaware of what another team is doing. Call wait times are longer than with any other payroll provider I have dealt with. I have even been hung up on and spoken to rudely when I felt my concern was not being handled properly. Urgent issues take far too long to move forward 71 days is completely unreasonable for payroll-related matters. Teamwork does not seem to exist and management avoids speaking directly with clients. Instead, they relay things through representatives rather than stepping in to resolve problems that are already beyond escalation. Important issues do not seem to be tracked with any urgency. I try to be patient and give people time to do their jobs but the lack of communication and follow-up is extremely frustrating.

Payroll made effortless!

Pros

Running payroll with Paylocity has been very easy even in our complex, multi-funded nonprofit setup. It takes a lot of the hassle out of payroll and the integration with Employee Navigator is a really helpful bonus.

Cons

At times, the issues I need help with can only be handled by accounting staff who truly understand the complexity of nonprofit funding. I'd also prefer to have the option to edit my own mapping.

helpful support every time

Pros

Whenever questions come up, the customer support team has been really helpful and quick to respond. The AI tool has helped us work through a lot of issues on our own and when we still needed answers, support was there to guide us.

Cons

Reporting in Paylocity has been hard to navigate. There are several reports we'd like to combine but we cannot because the data lives in different sections of the system and those areas don't connect with each other.

User-friendly tools and fast service

Pros

Using this product has been very easy and the support team usually responds pretty quickly. I also really enjoy the recruiting feature since it lets you text candidates and send offers directly through the portal.

Cons

One downside is that glitches and similar issues can take quite a long time to get resolved. We've had a workflow glitch for over a year now and the fix keeps getting pushed back.

responsive support every time

Pros

Every time I contact support, the experience is consistently positive no matter who picks up the phone. The team comes across as polite, professional and knowledgeable and they usually handle issues without much back and forth. If something falls outside their scope, they make sure to escalate it quickly to the right person who can take care of it.

Cons

Getting in touch with our account manager can be challenging at times and the frequent changes in who fills that role can be frustrating. It makes it harder to build continuity and get the kind of consistent support we're hoping for.

Payroll automation and flexible workflows

Pros

Using Paylocity has been pretty easy because the interface is clean and mostly user friendly. The payroll automation works well and usually runs without many errors which saves a lot of time. Employee self-service is another strong point since people can update their information and check paystubs without needing help. The mobile app is also useful for quick approvals and handling time-off requests when away from a computer. I also appreciate that the workflows can be customized especially for approvals and forms.

Cons

A few parts of it could be stronger. Such as the onboarding modules are fairly basic and could definitely be more powerful. Some areas of the UI also seem a bit dated so it does not always feel like the most modern platform. Reporting can be confusing too especially when trying to build custom reports since that part is not always very user friendly. On top of that some pages load slower than they really should.

communication needs work

Pros

Paylocity is generally easy to use and our team members are comfortable navigating the platform. It feels more like a value-focused option so it doesn't include every feature you might get with other systems or the same level of hands on support.

Cons

One area that needs work is communication with clients and across Paylocity's internal departments, along with keeping a stronger client-focused approach. At times, there are disconnects or missed chances to communicate with clients and that ends up affecting how well our teams are supported.
