clean interface

Pros

this tool has a clean interface that makes it fairly simple to navigate and find what you need in the system. The implementation team was fantastic and we were really happy with the sales team as well.

Cons

An ongoing frustration is that the time-off totals are not always accurate. It's hard to make adjustments and have the correct balance show up properly for employees. We've also had a lot of issues with tax filing for our organization. On top of that customer support has been disappointing since it can take several days for someone to respond to a complaint or problem.

user-friendly platform with powerful lms

Pros

Getting around the platform has been very easy and the LMS has a lot of depth with plenty of useful content. The initial training gave me a good foundation and helped me learn the essentials which is exactly what I need since I mostly use our HRIS for personnel records, payroll, benefits and ATS functions.

Cons

Since I am completely new to HRIS systems, handling things on my own can still be challenging. If I cannot find the answer in the LMS, I usually need help from our Account Manager. The issue is that our AM isn't always available so we sometimes get redirected to someone else. When too many people are involved, details can end up getting missed or lost.

useful tools, limited reporting

Pros

Navigating Paylocity is very easy and employees have no trouble using it. The mobile app also works really well and the features I use fit the needs of a small to mid-sized organization nicely.

Cons

Getting help can be frustrating since support often comes through articles instead of quick access to an account manager. The reporting features can feel somewhat limited at times as well.

powerful all-in-one HR platform

Pros

Using Paylocity has been very easy overall. When you really make use of the other tools they offer like Benefits Enrollment, Compensation, Performance Management, Employee Onboarding and even posting HR events as it really feels like a true one stop shop. Their customer support has also gotten noticeably better over the last 12 months especially when it comes to product knowledge.

Cons

I'd still like to see more flexibility in the Compensation module especially the ability to build our own compensation statements. Right now, the customization options are pretty limited. We also use a vendor management program that requires collecting documents such as Certificates of Insurance and when I lose access, it can take weeks to get it restored which creates a lot of unnecessary frustration.

User-friendly

Pros

Compared with the other programs I have worked with, this one feels more user-friendly and a lot more current. Some of the other systems I have used come across as pretty outdated by comparison, although I haven't used a huge number of them overall.

Cons

Trying to search for help topics is frustrating. It's actually pretty difficult to find the specific topic I need because too many similar results come up so I end up spending a lot of time reading through information that isn't relevant. On top of that even when I do find instructions, they aren't always written for the version I am using so the steps don't match what I am seeing on my screen.

outstanding support and partnership

Pros

One of the biggest strengths of Paylocity is its customer support team. The help and collaboration they provide really stand out. In short the level of partnership I get from Paylocity feels unmatched.

Cons

The reporting platform can be hard to work with and would be better if it were more user-friendly. I'd also really like to see integration with a client budget tracking system so we wouldn't have to keep using Replicon anymore.

paperless payroll done right

Pros

Paylocity has been a really capable payroll system for us and it's also very user-friendly. It comes with smart features like built-in payroll notes which help us stay fully paperless and keep all of our documentation organized in one place. One of the biggest reasons we picked Paylocity was the way it connects recruiting and onboarding directly into payroll and it has absolutely delivered on that efficient all-in-one setup.

Cons

Biggest ongoing challenge has been keeping the same strong payroll account manager. Whenever we get assigned someone really good, they often end up getting promoted or leaving the company. That said we've actually had very positive experiences with the service reps who answer when we call for support.

solid payroll value

Pros

it offers good value overall. Running payroll is simple and the customer support is better than what I have gotten from some other providers.

Cons

The report writer and reporting in general still need improvement. Also, when new modules are released, they sometimes don't function very well right away.

all-in-one HR and payroll hub

Pros

Having one place to handle everything tied to HR and payroll has been a huge benefit. I really appreciate the employee self-service tools, the reporting features and how user-friendly the system is overall. Everything gets tracked in one platform now so there's no need to keep spreadsheets all over the place anymore.

Cons

Because the platform is so powerful, it does take some upfront time to learn and set up the different modules and features available in the system. There's still a lot for me to explore and learn.

simple app and fast fixes

Pros

Coming into this as a grandma who learned on a typewriter instead of a computer, I was pretty nervous about having to use a new app. I am not very tech savvy so I expected it to be confusing. Luckily, it turned out to be very easy to navigate. Being able to clock in and out right from the app is really helpful and checking my hours is quick and simple. If something is off, like forgetting to punch in or out, I can send in a request to correct it to the hours I know are right and it gets resolved very quickly. That really helps keep my work hours accurate for each pay period.

Cons

One frustrating issue is putting in for emergency PTO, getting it approved and then having it denied right before payday. I really wish the app would send a text notification when that happens so it doesn't come as such a surprise on my paycheck. Some of us count on receiving a certain amount on payday and being $400 short is a huge shock and definitely stressful.

Efficient payroll at a competitive price

Pros

Using Paylocity has not been a problem. It's very user-friendly, the pricing is highly competitive compared with similar products and the staff is knowledgeable and genuinely helpful. The system also runs efficiently and is simple to navigate.

Cons

At times, help desk support can be a bit slow to respond, although they do always follow through. Reporting can also feel a little complex.

flexible HR platform that saves time

Pros

Getting this up and running was really easy and it scales well as needs grow. It cuts down a lot of administrative work and the variety of modules helps bring HR tasks together while making compliance much simpler to manage.

Cons

getting answers when something goes wrong can be difficult. The sales reps also seem to change frequently and their approach can come across as a bit too aggressive.

well-designed payroll portal

Pros

Right from the start, the Paylocity portal has been simple to navigate and the prompts throughout the platform are genuinely helpful. Everything feels thoughtfully designed and since joining their HR team in October 2025, the customer support has been consistently excellent.

Cons

One thing that would make onboarding better is if the account manager reached out whenever a new user is added so they could understand that person's role in the platform and provide a learning plan. Paylocity has strong learning and development resources but jumping into the platform at first can still feel a bit overwhelming.

All-in-one HR powerhouse

Pros

Having payroll, timekeeping, time-off management, HR filing, onboarding, reviews and community tools all in one system has made a huge difference compared to juggling multiple platforms. Paylocity really feels like a one stop shop and the automation features especially workflows, save a lot of time and help keep things moving efficiently. Open enrollment has become much easier even if the system still has some flaws. Payroll is also very simple since it pulls directly from timekeeping data. Overall everything we use the platform for has become simpler and I have also heard integrations like Justifacts make the hiring process much more manageable. Getting started was very simple because the onboarding process was excellent and the phone support team is really helpful when the wait time isn't too long.

Cons

It's definitely not a perfect system. Random glitches pop up from time to time, like performance reviews still not being downloadable. Sometimes issues like that go unresolved for a while even though they create near-daily disruptions for us. Another recurring problem is employees not always being able to view their documents. During annual reviews, employees are supposed to review certain documents and sign off that the information is still correct but because of this issue, I have had to manually download and send those files to each person myself. In general, the biggest frustration is that some problems take too long to get fixed and email support response times can be delayed.

helpful account support

Pros

My current account manager, along with the person who handled the role before her, has been excellent. The reports are clear, well organized and simple to understand.

Cons

Customer service at the start was a nightmare. Paylocity has also removed reports, including the Master Labor Distribution which we relied on heavily. On top of that I still don't have a dedicated account manager for Benefits.

powerful payroll flexibility

Pros

One of the biggest strengths here is how customizable the system is. Pay types, earnings, deductions, taxability and PTO accruals can all be adjusted in a lot of detail and once you get past the learning curve, it becomes very manageable. The settings are deep enough to support a wide range of use cases which has been really valuable for us. Support has also been a strong point. It's simple to reach someone and the customer service team has consistently been responsive, knowledgeable and effective whenever we've needed help. On top of that time card approvals, time-off requests and manager or supervisor permissions all work very well. Team management is also fast once you're familiar with the system especially when updating supervisors for approvals and requests. Department mapping has worked out well for us too. Another thing I appreciate is that Paylocity seems to roll out product updates pretty often which makes it feel like they're continuing to invest in improving the platform. The check calculator is also a standout feature for me since it lets us enter checks into payroll that we print outside the system.

Cons

One frustration for us was not being able to edit our own PTO accrual settings or at least not being able to do it easily. It took several tries and multiple form submissions before we finally got it resolved. I am also not a fan of how often I need to jump back and forth between the Time & Labor area and the HR & Payroll area. Those sections are closely connected so I really wish they worked together in a more proper manner. A lot of the time I end up keeping two tabs open just so I can reference information from one while completing something in the other. The interface overall also feels very large and complex. It absolutely does what it's supposed to do and offers a lot of flexibility but I still spend too much time clicking around trying to locate one specific page or setting. If I need something changed, calling support often ends up being faster than trying to track it down in the UI.

Offers broad compatibility

Pros

Works across a wide range of systems and devices which has been really convenient. It also includes all the core features and they're easy to use and understand. The AI assistant has been a useful addition as well.

Cons

Customization feels somewhat limited unless you bring in an integration. I'd also appreciate more transparency around PDRs since tracking the status of a submitted PDR is difficult right now. We usually have to request updates each time and it would be much better to have a portal or dashboard where we could follow progress by PDR number.

frustrating integrations

Pros

The account managers have been very friendly and consistently willing to go the extra mile whenever help is needed. On top of that the updates that keep coming out are starting to fix several of the problems we had been dealing with.

Cons

The connection between modules still doesn't work as well as it should. For example, Time & Labor doesn't interact particularly well with time off in HR & Payroll. The Recruiting module also has some shortcomings, including the inability to export all candidate data into a CSV or XLS file so employers can sort and filter applicants more effectively.

handy time tracking and pay access

Pros

Clocking in and out with it is very easy. It also includes the company calendar which helps keep up with upcoming events. On top of that getting to my timesheet or checking pay stubs is simple and convenient.

Cons

The app relies on your location for clocking in and out which I am generally fine with but it can be a bit inconsistent at times. There are moments when I am clearly in the office trying to clock out and it says I am in an unauthorized location. When that happens, I end up refreshing the app several times or moving around until it works. It's also a bit tougher to find certain information in the app than it is on the website.

Reliable support and compliance

Pros

Customer support has been excellent and the platform is very simple to work with. It's also reassuring that the system stays up to date with legal compliance and helps catch mistakes before they become bigger issues.

Cons

The knowledge base can be hit or miss so I usually end up reaching out to support by email instead. That said once they get back to me, the issue is usually taken care of pretty quickly.
