“Features ready to go”
Pros
QuickBooks Payroll comes with all the key features you really need built in. If you want something more advanced, you can add time tracking and import that too. Other than that, it's pretty much ready to use right out of the box.
Cons
The functionality stayed the same but the service price and per-user fees still increased.

“quickbooks integration works beautifully”
Pros
It connects well with QuickBooks accounting software which makes everything work together really well.
Cons
One thing I don't care for is the extra step of having to remember to pay payroll taxes manually. Since they aren't paid automatically, it can leave a client exposed to Trust Fund Recovery Penalties.

“annual price hikes and trust issues”
Pros
One positive with QuickBooks Payroll is that it works directly with QuickBooks Online which is really the only part I appreciate about it.
Cons
The cost goes up every year, the customer support is terrible and after seeing multiple mistakes from the system in the past, I don't trust QBO Payroll. I regularly tell clients who use it to have a professional review their reports every quarter before anything gets filed.

“Reliable tracking”
Pros
Keeping payroll records organized has been one of the best parts and the option to make corrections when needed is really helpful.
Cons
For a small business, the cost feels high since it offers more than I actually need. It also isn't very beginner-friendly for a novice bookkeeper.

“smooth time tracking payroll”
Pros
Because we already use QuickBooks for time tracking, running payroll is very convenient since hours import automatically into employee paychecks.
Cons
The price is on the higher side, although it still costs less than using an outside payroll service. Tech support can also be difficult to deal with.

“affordable payroll with decent basics”
Pros
It is decent even if it is not outstanding. It covers the basic options well enough and the monthly subscription is reasonably priced compared with other services so it offers good value for the money.
Cons
From what I have seen, it can be too complicated for a lot of users. As a tax accountant, I often end up correcting their mistakes and I can understand why those errors happen because the system is not very simple.

“Payroll that handles the hard parts”
Pros
QuickBooks Payroll has been the best part of using the software for me. It takes away the hassle of mailing forms and automatically calculates deductions and taxes which saves a lot of time and effort.
Cons
One thing that needs attention is making sure the correct pay period is selected. If you're already past the payroll period date, it automatically shifts to the next one so you have to catch that and change it manually. Overall it could also be more user-friendly and I'd really appreciate stronger customer support when questions or issues come up.

Just entering the hours and having the system handle all the other calculations makes this a really useful product.

I feel like it doesn't calculate mandated sick time correctly.

“Flexible payroll scheduling”
Pros
Handling payroll with QuickBooks Payroll has been really convenient. It lets you pay employees without much hassle and you can set up different pay frequencies, pay types and similar options to fit your team's needs.
Cons
One thing I really wish QuickBooks Payroll had is a built-in PTO tracking and approval feature. We ended up needing separate software just to manage that. On top of that QuickBooks customer service has been pretty disappointing.

“payroll wizard for anyone”
Pros
The way everything is laid out just makes sense and flows naturally. I have been doing payroll for more than 25 years and even someone with zero payroll background could feel like a payroll pro using QuickBooks Payroll processing.
Cons
Honestly the only downside is that more of my previous employers didn't use it. It really supports the payroll administrator role and guides you through the process beautifully.

“basic payroll, buggy extras”
Pros
It handles the core payroll and tax tasks well. It's a great option when that's all you need especially for very small teams that don't have HR support.
Cons
The user experience could be much better since it keeps sending you back to the main page whenever you need to make changes and the layout isn't very user friendly. If you need a platform to manage all of HR, this isn't the right fit. Running payroll itself is simple enough but once you start adding benefits, time tracking or anything beyond the basics, it becomes difficult and takes a lot more time.

“Reliable updates accountants appreciate”
Pros
If it isn't broken, there's no need to change it. QuickBooks Payroll has consistently worked well for us and they keep rolling out updates and new features that our accountants really appreciate.
Cons
The one area that could be better is customer support especially when it comes to getting faster responses.

“flexible employee onboarding”
Pros
There's flexibility in how employee setup is handled since you can either complete the setup yourself or enter the information on the employee's behalf.
Cons
It does add an extra cost on top of the regular QuickBooks subscription so the pricing can feel a bit high.

Pros
I have stuck with it for years because it's simple to use and getting signed up and started is quick.
Cons
One drawback with QuickBooks Payroll Online is that you cannot void or modify employee checks on your own as you have to reach out to customer support and have them handle it.

“useful payroll tools but overpriced”
Pros
QuickBooks Payroll is fairly easy to use and it's built to handle a lot more than just payroll. It covers everything from tax-related tasks to pay bill management and it also helps with bookkeeping, asset tracking and payment processing. I also really appreciated the range of services and the unique features they provide.
Cons
The app is user-friendly overall but it feels a bit more expensive than many other options on the market. On top of that the customer support hasn't been very satisfying. There are also a few features or points that didn't really work properly for me.

“Fantastic invoicing and expense tracking”
Pros
One thing that has made a huge difference is the expense tracker. My company used to struggle with inaccurate expenditure reports but since we started using this software, those problems have completely disappeared. The invoicing is also fast and simple which saves us a lot of time. Because we handle a large number of clients, it has helped us save both time and money.
Cons
Over the past 8 months of using this software, my work performance has noticeably improved. Every feature has met the standard I expected and honestly I would not change or improve a single thing. It has really helped me do better in my role.
