Infor VISUAL - The best ERP software for small - mid sized Manufacturing Companies
Infor VISUAL - The best ERP software for small - mid sized Manufacturing Companies
Pros
As someone who has been using, training, implementing, and consulting on this product for over 30 years, I can confidently say that there is no other ERP software that can compare to this one. It has all the features and capabilities you could possibly need, from taking you from ideation to getting paid, to handling all client demands such as traceability, certifications, and quality requirements. It's also incredibly versatile for internal needs like MRP, Production Control, Manufacturing Floor, Scheduling, and Maintenance. The reporting capabilities are exceptional, and the support staff is outstanding!
Cons
I must admit, finding a con is tough for me. Theres hardly anything I dislike about VISUAL, but if I were to give advice to someone implementing it for the first time and transitioning from another ERP system, I'd suggest taking it slow. Although they might want to show you everything at once, start with the basic model. Get it up and running, train everyone, and then move on to another module. It's a marathon, not a race. Master one before tackling another. Remember, this is an asset that should bring ROI every year. Create another model once you see its ROI. Keep the system up to date and efficient, and it will do the same for you.

Robust But Difficult
Robust But Difficult
Pros
In essence, Infor VISUAL is a straightforward graphical user interface built on a robust database comprising multiple tables for manufacturing operations. It provides all the necessary tools and functionalities to run our operations, and even more than what most companies require.
Cons
While this software "gets the job done," it doesn't make it simple. The interface isn't intuitive, so it requires extensive training for new users. Additionally, it lacks valuable analytics and makes it challenging to gain insights into your processes.

Pros
The manufacturing window in Visual combines Routings and BOLs in a single screen, and the costing functionality is exceptional. Data entry is straightforward, and the process flow is easy to follow.

Great Value for Small to Mid Range Companies
Great Value for Small to Mid Range Companies
Pros
Visual offers numerous configuration options that allow me to customize the software to suit my company's needs. Compared to other major ERP systems like SAP or Oracle, Visual is relatively easy to learn and administer. The database tables are logically named and easy to navigate for troubleshooting, reporting, and integrating systems. It offers many features that can be quickly set up and used, especially when working with a reliable channel partner like Synergy Resources. Through them, we have discovered various applications such as SmartViews reporting and Configurator-based quoting, which have provided easy wins and maximized the value we derive from Visual.
Cons
When I first started using Visual, it was not always easy to identify red flags in the system or know which reports would help me detect and address issues. The default labor capture system for monitoring the shop floor in Visual has significant limitations. Users can only enter one defect code per transaction, which means they must enter multiple transactions to record scrap. Although the new Shop Floor Mobile app offers improved features, it doesn't address this issue. We had to develop our own labor capture program to meet our specific business needs. Even after using and administering Visual for over seven years, there's still a lot I need to learn about the system. While the system's configurability is a strength, it also requires in-depth knowledge of each option and how the system functions. Our original channel partner for implementation had a highly knowledgeable consultant who showed us the system's potential, but the consultants primarily assigned to our account were far from experts. Implementing Visual with an inexperienced group of consultants led to numerous issues. Since switching our channel partner to Synergy Resources, we've had much better success in resolving problems and utilizing Visual more effectively.

Our One-Stop Solution: Infor VISUAL ERP + Synergy Resources
Pros
While many ERP systems may be similar, Infor VISUAL ERP stands out by providing users with easy access to the data they need and presenting it in a visual format that is easy to comprehend. Even experienced ERP users may appreciate the straightforward process flow of Infor VISUAL ERP. Since it is based on SQL Server, managing the system is simple, and it seamlessly integrates with BI programs like Synergy's SmartViews and Microsoft's Power BI. Instead of opting for quick fixes, Infor VISUAL ERP and the Synergy Resources team focus on long-term solutions that drive organizational growth.
Cons
Like some other reviewers mentioned, Infor VISUAL ERP offers a wide range of features that may exceed the needs of a small organization. During implementation, it can feel overwhelming. However, Synergy Resources helped us identify the necessary features and configure them. Once the initial phase settled down, we began exploring some of the additional features. Over the past three years, several features that we initially considered "extra" have become vital to our daily operations.

A Platform we Can Continue to Grow Our Demanding Dynamic Business
A Platform we Can Continue to Grow Our Demanding Dynamic Business
Pros
First and foremost this platform is incredibly intuitive and user friendly. Its ease of use allows new users to quickly grasp the software and become productive. Our dynamic business requires flexibility and the ability to track job progress on machined components while driving MRP on complex bills of materials, some of which are seven levels deep. Other platforms we explored could not handle both requirements or lacked the necessary flexibility. Visual's adaptability has greatly supported our continuous improvement process. During customer and ISO audits, we can confidently showcase our strong, integrated, and streamlined system, with Visual as its foundation17. Infor VISUAL ERP offers excellent inventory management capabilities. It allows us to track and control inventory levels, set reorder points, and manage stock across multiple warehouses. The system provides real-time visibility into inventory status, enabling us to optimize our supply chain and prevent stockouts or overstocking.
Cons
The only con I have noticed so far is that would be the quality of the pre-made reports in Visual. We struggled for years to extract the wealth of data contained within Visual. However, we recently purchased the Smart Views reporting suite and were pleasantly surprised by its standard reports and the ease of creating new ones. Overall, the pros of this platform far outweigh the cons, and I believe our business would be lost without this integrated business tool.

Reliable, Customizable, Continually Improved ERP for Manufacturers
Reliable, Customizable, Continually Improved ERP for Manufacturers
Pros
We have been relying on Infor Visual Manufacturing for many years and it has proven to be a reliable and stable solution. The software is regularly updated and enhanced with input from the user community through Regional User Groups. The support team is responsive and addresses concerns promptly. It's valuable to have direct communication channels with the Product Manager and Infor executives to share feedback and requests. The support site, inforxtreme.com, is a useful resource for knowledgebase searches and issue reporting. While there may be some initial challenges for those new to modern ERP systems or databases, vendor partners like Synergy provide training and assistance in piloting the system and managing other technical requirements such as data migration and add ons.
Cons
Infor can be slow in delivering improvements and minor bugs are not uncommon (although most are resolved fairly quickly). The cost of software add ons can be prohibitive for smaller companies compared to low cost vendors. However, the abundance of resources available through user1. This is a challenging one for me personally. There's very little I don't appreciate about VISUAL. My only advice would be to take it slow if you're implementing it for the first time and transitioning from another ERP system. While they may want to show you everything at once, starting with the basic model is a better approach. Get it up and running, train everyone, and then move on to another module. Remember, it's a marathon, not a race. Master one before moving on to the next. Keep in mind that this is an asset that should provide ROI every year. Create another model once you see its ROI. Maintain the system's currency and health, and it will do the same for you.

VISUAL ~ Complete end to end solution; Reliable/Customizable Software
Pros
This product is excellent and its easy to use and intuitive. VISUAL consistently improves its functionality based on user feedback and suggestions. From an IT perspective, managing VISUAL is a breeze. I can easily handle data management, connectivity, maintenance, upgrades and customizations. INFOR and Synergy Resources provide exceptional service and support. Their team members are knowledgeable and experienced. The roadmap is well defined, ensuring no surprises in the future.
Cons
Over the years, we have found that upgrading to higher versions of the software can be a bit unstable. There are often bugs that need to be resolved, which is why we always wait for at least a year before upgrading our in house versions.
