great templates

Pros

Managing customer lists by region and sending quarterly marketing campaigns is where this platform has been especially useful for us. It's a budget-friendly way to stay in touch and promote products or services especially when your contact list stays under the subscriber limit. The full-color templates are a nice touch and it also warns you if an image is too large and could overwhelm subscribers' inboxes.

Cons

One downside is that it's no longer free once you go over a certain subscriber count although that was probably inevitable. I also don't think the templates are especially user-friendly and they're not very flexible when you want to bring in a design from somewhere else. You have to force everything into their format and that can get buggy so it's definitely worth testing before sending anything out to your audience.

Simple campaigns and polished templates

Pros

Creating email campaigns with this tool feels very simple and the whole setup process is easy. The templates are polished, look excellent and display properly across pretty much every email platform. The email testing feature is also really useful since it lets me check everything before sending a campaign to the full subscriber list.

Cons

Sending campaigns can get pricey once your contact list starts growing. That said it's a business product and it has to cover its costs so it's hard to be too upset about that. Aside from the pricing at scale, it's an excellent and well-established product.

generous free plan for starters

Pros

Mass email marketing feels very accessible here because the free trial is exceptionally generous. You can send 10,000 emails to 2,000 subscribers every month at no cost which makes it an ideal zero-cost option for anyone just beginning.

Cons

While the free plan is genuinely useful and gives you plenty of room to get familiar with the platform, the pricing becomes a bit expensive once you decide to move to a paid subscription. On top of that even after upgrading, the more advanced features still feel fairly limited.

free plan with powerful automations

Pros

Launching a startup with this platform has been really helpful especially because the free plan lets you do quite a lot. The integrations are very easy so collecting lead emails and jumping into email campaigns doesn't take much effort. The automation features are also really useful, particularly for welcome emails and activation emails. Another big plus is the free WooCommerce integrations.

Cons

A few features take some time to fully understand especially things like the difference between tags and groups when managing audience members.

powerful email builder

Pros

Running email marketing campaigns through this platform has been very easy and configuring everything doesn't take much effort. The email builder is especially nice to work with and makes it simple to put together emails that look polished and visually appealing.

Cons

Feature that really lets it down is customer support, or honestly the lack of it. When help is needed, it feels like there's barely any support available at all.

quick setup with flexible ecommerce

Pros

The platform makes it easy to get up and running and there are plenty of customizable ecommerce features that make it possible to launch fairly quickly. The delivery side is also great enough to suit most businesses.

Cons

Setting up the automations feels clunky and isn't really well suited for more advanced workflows. On top of that, removing the branding and adjusting certain templates the way you want can be frustrating if you need anything beyond the basics.

Great email automation

Pros

One thing this does really well is let you create automated, personalized emails for specific leads throughout any marketing campaign. It's very useful for building custom email flows that match different audiences and stages.

Cons

The downside is the pricing which gets pretty expensive as your email list grows. It works well but it's definitely not the most affordable option out there.

fantastic free fit for nonprofits

Pros

As a small non-profit, the free plan has been an excellent fit and covers just about everything we need. Managing contact lists is very easy and connecting the sign-up form with Squarespace worked easily. Unless you need the extra Pro tools, the free version already gives you what you need to send polished, professional emails to subscribers while staying compliant with ICANN regulations.

Cons

Template variety is a bit limited especially on the free plan and most of the designs lean toward a clean, modern style. That works fine in general but we were hoping for more nature or environment-themed options and didn't find many. Building a template from scratch also takes quite a bit of time. Still, it's hard to complain too much considering the service is free.

best fit for nonprofits

Pros

They keep making updates to improve the software and make it more simple. It's not flawless but for a small nonprofit like ours, it's definitely the best option available.

Cons

One part that still feels confusing is the lists feature. The way it handles contacts is different from other email marketing platforms and it just doesn't feel simple. I also wish the email builder let you customize columns while creating an email because the design options feel pretty limited. At this point, drag-and-drop editors really should be more advanced.

cost-effective for small newsletters

Pros

Pricing has worked out well for us overall. The updated pricing model wouldn't really fit our needs now but thankfully we were grandfathered into our previous pay-by-credit setup. On the functionality side, the newsletter customization is decent and does the job for a small-scale email program like ours. It's sufficient for what we need and still cost-effective enough to keep using.

Cons

Managing unsubscribes gets complicated when you have multiple audiences since someone who unsubscribes from one audience is not automatically removed from the others. That makes things harder to track. Another downside is that more advanced segmentation comes at an extra cost so if you need more than five segment layers, you have to pay more.

quick learning with helpful templates

Pros

Getting started with this was really easy and I was able to pick it up fast thanks to the ready-made templates and the clear step-by-step guides.

Cons

At times, the functionality feels a bit limited so you have to rely on workarounds. Having some knowledge of HTML also makes a big difference.

Perfect for online surveys

Pros

We've been using it for online email surveys and similar work and it's been really helpful for gathering information and customer feedback.

Cons

I honestly haven't run into any negatives with Mail gimp at this point. The feedback has been good and everything we've seen has been positive.

good experience

Pros

After trying quite a few email campaign platforms over the years, this one has been the simplest for me to work with. The layout feels simple, it's easy to understand and we've also been able to create custom, well-branded email templates inside the system so every message stays consistent with our brand.

Cons

One downside is that the platform gets updated regularly which is good overall but it also means having to re-learn where certain features are and what they've been renamed to. For instance, mailing lists are now called Audiences and that adjustment took a little time.

newsletter creation that just clicks

Pros

Creating newsletters with it has been really easy. The interface is beginner-friendly and I appreciate being able to preview drafts in both desktop and mobile views so I can catch anything that might look off on a phone. The WordPress integration is also very simple to set up which makes the whole process less intimidating. Another plus is the analytics, they're clear, uncomplicated and make it quick to check open rates and click-throughs at a glance.

Cons

List terminology still throws me off especially with the shift to audiences. In other email tools, I can usually connect multiple lists to a single email but here the system leans heavily on one list with segments and tags which feels more confusing and takes extra time to manage. The template selection also feels limited and many of the available designs seem outdated and overdue for a refresh. On top of that, customer support is lacking unless you pay for a higher-tier account and waiting 24 hours or longer for help just isn't practical when you need a quick answer.

modern designs and simple syncing

Pros

Once you spend a little time learning it, the platform becomes really easy to use. It connects easily with all the other software I rely on and the help resources on the site make the setup process very simple. The interface also feels much cleaner and more user-friendly than Constant Contact and the templates/designs look a lot more modern.

Cons

At times, the editor makes it harder than it should be to adjust emails exactly the way I want. My biggest frustration is with text formatting details, you can't always view things like the font or size used in a headline which makes it difficult to keep the design consistent throughout the email. When I highlight text and check the font settings, it doesn't actually show me what's already applied. Little limitations like that are the part that annoy me most.

helpful support and CRM fit

Pros

Using it alongside HubSpot worked really well for our email marketing and that was probably the biggest advantage for us. We could sort, export and download targeted customer lists from HubSpot, then upload them without any hassle. That workflow made our campaigns much more efficient and helped us move faster when timing mattered. Another big plus was how user-friendly the platform was for our needs. On top of that, whenever questions or issues came up, the customer service and sales teams were consistently responsive, helpful and quick to jump in.

Cons

Biggest downside for us was the limitation built into the pricing tiers. Our company had a very large base of customers and prospects and we marketed to multiple industries with many contacts inside each organization. Since our software could be adopted across entire companies, reaching a broad mix of users and decision-makers was an important part of our strategy. The problem was that the plans capped how many contacts and sends we could use each month. We regularly had to stop and figure out where to cut back our email efforts which pulled time away from more productive work. It ended up feeling like we had to ration sends every month and upgrading didn't seem worth the added cost. Even though a higher plan would have helped operationally, the price was just too high. They really should allow more contacts and sends within each pricing level.

flexible email design wins

Pros

Getting started with it was very easy overall. Importing contacts into a separate list for a specific audience felt a little confusing at the beginning but that was mostly because it was my first time using email marketing software for a small business. Once I got used to it, editing contacts became much more manageable. Building emails has also been simple and actually enjoyable to control. Since I work as a designer, being able to move through the header, body and other settings helps me think more clearly about how everything should look. I also appreciate that the preview text updates while I'm typing and making changes. Uploading photos is quick and scheduling emails ahead of time is a huge help because I don't need to remember to log in later just to send them manually.

Cons

One frustrating change has been how many features were removed after the free subscriber perks were adjusted. With only two or three template choices now, it's much harder to present the gallery I work for in a creative way. I used to have more freedom with columns and rows which made it possible to build attractive photo galleries and create emails that were nicer to read. Now the layout choices feel very restricted and on top of that, my emails have started getting flagged like spam. Over the past few months, these plain, limited layouts have caused Google to show a warning asking if the message is spam. If I'm seeing that prompt myself, I have to assume other recipients may be seeing it too and that reflects poorly on the gallery.

quick professional newsletters

Pros

Putting together a polished email newsletter takes almost no effort here and the built-in templates make a huge difference. Even on the first try, it's possible to create something that looks professional in no time.

Cons

Audience management area could use some work. It would be better if there were a way to store a little more information about people on the list.

reliable messaging and tracking

Pros

One thing that has worked really well for us is how it connects with our business system, Iclass Pro. We're able to create lists inside the platform and have them automatically updated with the latest contact details from our business system. It's also been very helpful for putting together customer messages quickly and keeping track of how well those messages perform.

sleek interface but poor support

Pros

Interface, reporting and overall functionality are great. It looks sleek, feels simple and getting around the platform is very easy.

Cons

Customer support has been a real disappointment. The representatives don't seem to understand how to handle email collection issues and they really need better training before calling it customer service. On top of that, the name and branding feel poorly done, like the result of bad design choices and weak decision-making.
