Drag-and-drop templates that shine

Pros

Right away, the drag-and-drop templates made a big difference and building my own has been just as simple. Everything works the way I expect it to and looks polished without extra effort. The template quality and overall functionality are far ahead of HubSpot especially considering it comes at a much lower price.

Cons

One area that still needs a lot of improvement is the Automation system especially when it comes to rearranging emails. You can't just move an email to a new spot in the sequence, you have to swap it with another one instead. That turns what should be a quick task into a frustrating, time-consuming process and has me considering other options.

strong campaign tracking

Pros

Keeping tabs on every email campaign is really easy with this platform. The interface feels simple and the dashboards make it simple to understand what's performing well and what isn't. Integration with other systems is also uncomplicated and the documentation around setup is thorough and helpful.

Cons

One limitation is that when it's connected to software already in use, users may still need to handle certain functions directly inside it instead of everything being managed in one place. Some parts of the platform could be built to integrate more completely with the software that depends on it.

Familiar and user-friendly platform

Pros

I've used it across several campaigns and it's been a great tool overall. It's pleasant to work with, fairly simple to navigate and because it's been around for quite a while, most people already know how to use it. That familiarity definitely helps when working with others even though there are still quite a few things I'd love to see improved.

Cons

A few of the features still feel pretty restrictive. Because of that, coming up with more creative or innovative campaigns can be difficult and importing work from another tool like Canva isn't always easy either. I'm hoping those issues get addressed soon.

strong value for growing stores

Pros

To me, this feels like the go-to email marketing platform by default. It works really well for beginners and intermediate users and lately it has been adding more advanced features and integrations too although some of those are only available on the higher-tier plans. The biggest benefit is how much value is packed into the lower-priced options. I'd absolutely recommend the free plan to new businesses especially ecommerce brands because it's one of the most competitive free offerings out there and includes plenty of useful features and store integrations. Since the platform has such a large user base, it also benefits from frequent updates, fresh content and continued reinvestment.

Cons

Biggest drawback is that it's still an older ESP with roots in the old batch-and-blast approach and that legacy still shows. They've definitely added newer features to stay current, like most platforms have but when an industry goes through major paradigm shifts, I usually prefer tools that were built from the ground up around the newer model. Because of that, I'd probably steer more advanced users toward other options depending on what they need. One frustration I run into repeatedly is how linear and restrictive the email builder feels. The whole process is very sequential which gets annoying and the WYSIWYG editor often limits how much I can customize so I end up having to switch over to HTML.

Reliable delivery and segmentation

Pros

Running a busy blog with fresh posts every day, I depend on its RSS feature to send a daily email to my subscribers and it has only let me down twice in five years. It's been extremely dependable, the platform feels secure and well-built and it continues to improve over time. The segmentation tools are also quite strong.

Cons

Free plan is very generous but once your list grows beyond 2,000 subscribers, the cost starts rising pretty quickly even if it still offers decent value for the money.

Great templates and integrations

Pros

Between the generous free plan and what may be the strongest built-in integration with other apps, it's no surprise this platform became so popular. The interface looks polished, it's simple to pick up and there's plenty of helpful content available if you want to get better at using it. The templates are visually appealing too and the whole experience is genuinely enjoyable.

Cons

I do wish some of the more advanced features were included earlier in the free plan ,) At times, emails also end up in the Promotions tab instead of the main inbox. That said, this feels like a broader issue ever since Gmail introduced separated inbox categories.

Polished email builder

Pros

Whether you're just getting started with email marketing or have years of experience, this platform feels simple to work with. Over the last 8 years, I've checked out other email services from time to time to compare features and I still keep coming back to this one. It really feels like a company that wants to keep improving, growing and leading the industry. Instead of wasting valuable time coding an email from scratch, I can build one here quickly and still have it look polished and professional.

Cons

This is hardly even a real downside but the interface does get updated from time to time which can move things around. Even then, the features are still there and easy enough to find. I'd still choose this over any other email service.

simple setup for clients

Pros

One thing that really works well is how easy it is to use. I do consulting on the side and work with several clients who aren't very tech-savvy but they still understand how important email and digital marketing are. It takes very little time from me for them to get in, learn the basics and start managing their own lists and campaigns pretty quickly.

Cons

A feature I run into trouble with most often is merging and exporting. There's just something about those two interfaces that feels less simple to me and I often catch myself right before making a mistake.

strong support for growth

Pros

Their customer service has been amazing and the platform comes with so many tools that help small businesses grow their list and monetize their customers.

Cons

UX/UI could definitely use some improvements and it would be nice to have more automation but it's clear their team is already working on that.

smart segmentation and tracking

Pros

Being able to segment lists and send targeted messages to different groups in our organization has been really helpful. Building templates is easy and I also appreciate that it clearly shows who opened the email and who didn't.

Cons

One limitation is that it doesn't make it simple to add dynamic content like polls or quizzes directly into emails. The image library also feels disorganized since uploaded images get collected in a messy way which makes older files hard to locate and leads to lots of duplicates. Another frustration is that campaigns can't be deleted after they're created even when they were only meant to be tests.

Great email campaigns and integrations

Pros

Putting together attractive email campaigns is really simple with this platform and it does a great job of helping drive traffic back to your website while building brand loyalty. The drag-and-drop email builder is especially useful and makes creating emails feel almost effortless. Pricing feels quite fair as well especially since you can have up to 2,000 subscribers on the free plan. It has covered my clients' needs almost every time and the integration with WooCommerce and WordPress overall is something I really appreciate. Being able to create custom pop-up forms and view individual subscriber details, like open rates and other stats, is another big plus. Overall, it's an excellent tool.

Cons

Honestly, there isn't much to complain about because it's a very complete platform. Sure, everyone would prefer it to be totally free but the developers deserve to be paid for what they've built. If I had to point out one thing, it would be the automation setup. It could definitely be more easy or at least the automation features should be easier to locate from the dashboard since they're not very obvious at first.

User-friendly dashboards and analytics

Pros

The interface is very user-friendly and the analytics do an excellent job of tracking customer activity on emails. The dashboards are also really good and make the information easy to follow.

Cons

Managing emails from different domains can be a bit confusing at times so that part of the UI/UX could definitely be made clearer within the application.

Perfect visual email builder

Pros

Having a visual email builder has been a huge plus for us. Customizing templates and emails exactly the way we want is incredibly simple and our whole team relies on it every day.

Cons

One downside is how fast the cost can climb as you scale. The pricing works well for smaller teams with limited subscriber lists but once you start growing, the bills add up pretty quickly.

Beginner-friendly automation

Pros

Getting started with this platform is really simple. Even if you're brand new, you can jump right in and start building email campaigns with the user-friendly template builder. The landing page builder is a big plus too especially for anyone who doesn't have much control over their website. Automated responses and the available integrations make it a valuable tool for marketers working with a smaller budget who need to launch quickly. The chat support on paid plans is another strong point, they're knowledgeable, helpful and genuinely pleasant to chat with.

Cons

One thing I'd change is how contacts are counted for billing. Even if the same person appears on multiple lists, they're counted as multiple subscribers instead of a single contact. So if one subscriber is on three lists, that gets billed as three subscribers which can become expensive when your list grows. Because of that, the workaround is to keep one master list and use segmentation from there.

clean interface and useful reports

Pros

The platform has a clean interface and is fairly simple to navigate. Emails go out quickly and the campaign reports provide helpful insights into the results of each send.

Cons

Customer support is lacking. There's no phone support and email responses took several days. I also ran into an issue where my mailing list was deleted after too much time passed between uses.

Fast campaigns and templates

Pros

Campaign setup is quick thanks to the strong template library and simple interface. I can easily import contact lists, use embedded signup forms and connect the platform with other tools which makes managing email marketing much more efficient.

Cons

Campaign formatting can be a little tricky at times especially with font styles when content is copied and pasted from another program.

Helpful automation tools

Pros

Email automation has been a major benefit for my business. The automated campaigns and reminder features help me stay connected with customers while reducing the amount of manual work required.

Cons

Not having A/B testing for automated campaigns is a downside and can create issues. Also, the Mandrill merge feels completely unnecessary.

email that grows with you

Pros

Whether a business operates online or offline, maintaining customer relationships is essential. This platform makes it easy for me to stay in touch with my audience through email and the free plan provides a risk-free way to get started before upgrading later.

Cons

It's not the top player in the email marketing space and some feature limitations are definitely noticeable. Still, it is a freemium product so you pretty much get exactly what you signed up for. On the bright side, once your business starts gaining traction, the paid upgrade can easily end up covering its own cost.

Powerful email tools and storage

Pros

The simplicity of the platform is one of its strongest advantages. I can send bulk emails, build a large contact database and access useful reporting metrics without dealing with unnecessary complexity. The storage capacity is impressive as well.

Cons

Honestly, the only thing I would ask for is a Spanish version so I could get even more out of the software. Aside from that, everything else has been very good.

clean UI with free features

Pros

One thing I appreciate most is how much functionality is available without paying. Despite the generous free features, the platform still delivers a polished experience and helps me share content effectively with my audience.

Cons

At the same time, the tool can be tricky to use or automate. It's not drag-and-drop and a lot of the time you have to map out your campaigns in advance before you can actually start building them.
