fantastic email marketing toolkit

Pros

Right from the start, this platform feels like one of the best options for email sending. The free plan is a really good way to test whether it fits your needs and honestly, it's hard to regret giving it a try. There are plenty of free templates available so putting together emails is quick and easy and it can really give your email marketing campaigns a fresh new direction. Monitoring how active campaigns are performing is simple as well. You can also build pages and connect them easily to your social media accounts. It runs perfectly across operating systems and all kinds of devices. On top of that, tracking visitors who leave your page without taking action is uncomplicated and the autoresponders work flawlessly without any glitches.

Cons

Starting with the free plan makes a lot of sense and if you later see that you need more, you can upgrade then so there's really nothing to worry about. The only thing worth mentioning is that you'll probably want to upgrade pretty quickly.

handy for distributed teams

Pros

Really convenient software for managing contacts and building campaigns especially when your team is spread across multiple locations.

Cons

Email design and layout tools feel limited although being able to code does help fill in some of the gaps.

guided campaigns and time-saving tags

Pros

Software walks you through building an email campaign in a way that makes the learning curve much shorter. The merge tags are also a huge time-saver and that lets me spend more time working on the content instead of trying to figure out how the campaign should look.

Cons

Mobile app works really well for checking reports and stats but it feels a bit clunky if I want to build out a more substantial campaign there. It is not a major issue though since I usually prefer using a desktop for bigger campaign creation anyway.

feature-packed free starter plan

Pros

This platform is a real win since it's free for up to 2,000 subscribers. It's also one of the most popular and widely used options out there so there's a huge community and plenty of support available whenever needed. On top of that, it comes packed with lots of strong features that are nearly on par with other top tools.

Cons

Constant Contact does offer slightly better email customization and feels a bit more easy to use but that comes with a higher cost. Also, once you go beyond 2,000 subscribers, the pricing starts to climb which honestly feels like part of the strategy to get you in first.

powerful email and analytics

Pros

Using this product has been a really positive experience. It works well as a easy email manager but it also offers accessible analytics when you want to build more targeted campaigns. We've relied on it for years to stay connected with our community and it still feels like we're only starting to explore everything it can do.

Cons

Clearer guidance around some of the analytics tools would make it even better especially with more use-case examples to help my staff understand the possibilities I can already see.

affordable newsletter setup

Pros

Getting a company's first email newsletter up and running is very affordable with this system and the interface is simple enough to use without much effort. For a non-profit with frequent volunteer turnover, that kind of simplicity really matters because it helps keep things consistent without needing a big time investment.

Cons

Extra features are definitely useful but updating or changing design elements can become difficult especially when staff need training to keep up with new upgrades.

versatile templates and flexible design

Pros

The email design templates have been my favorite feature especially because they're so simple to put into action. There's plenty of flexibility so putting together almost any design you want feels very doable even without much technical skill.

Cons

Pricing can be too expensive for beginners who already have larger mailing lists although the free plan is definitely a strong option if you're working with fewer than 2,000 subscribers.

too confusing to use!!

Pros

After trying multiple times to make use of the features, I still found the whole thing confusing and it never actually helped my operation in any way.

Cons

there was nothing about it that I liked because it just wasn't user-friendly at all.

beginner-friendly with helpful blog

Pros

It felt really easy to use. It's very beginner-friendly and the blog is packed with useful tips and advice that genuinely help.

Cons

Customer support is the weak spot. Their help articles are useful so I rarely need to contact support but when I do, it usually turns into a frustrating experience. Most of the time, I can solve issues myself or through the help bot much faster than by dealing with a real person.

constantly improving campaign designer

Pros

After using it for close to 10 years, one thing that really stands out is how committed they are to improving the product and supporting users. They keep refining the interface making it simpler to import contacts, build lists and set up campaigns. The campaign designer is the highlight for me. Even someone completely new can put together a professional-looking campaign with their editor. Really well done. I also respect that they bootstrapped their way to this point.

Cons

UX is usually the first thing I pay attention to especially how simple and accessible a tool feels. This one definitely had a learning curve, particularly in the earlier years when I was using it more heavily. That said they do seem to have made noticeable improvements recently.

reliable fit for new clients

Pros

Easy to use!!! It integrates well with almost any CMS or software. As an agency, it's one of the solutions we recommend most often to clients who are just starting out and still figuring out exactly what they want. It's dependable, practical and consistently works well.

Cons

The pricing can climb pretty quickly depending on what you need so it's important to keep an eye on which plan and features actually make sense. It also has quite a few limitations for certain industries so it's worth doing some research first to make sure it's the right platform for your specific use case.

powerful email batching integration

Pros

Connecting it with my CSM software has really cut down on extra steps and lets me send email batches much more efficiently with only a few clicks.

Cons

At the beginning, getting familiar with some of its many features felt a little tough. After working through it a few times, it became much more easy. There are just so many options, templates and resources built in that it felt a bit overwhelming at first.

fantastic free plan for beginners

Pros

After trying a few other tools in this category, I ended up feeling this one is the best choice when you're just getting started. A big reason is how fast the setup is, you can create an account in no time and begin sending emails almost immediately. The free plan is also extremely generous, with 2,000 subscribers and 12,000 emails per month and if you clean your list often, old email addresses you no longer use do not count toward billing. You just select them, archive them and that's it. It also gives you plenty of useful features, automation, email scheduling, audience segmentation by sign-up date, sign-up source, previous campaign activity, automation activity and more. On top of that, you can build landing pages, add embeddable sign-up forms, send automated welcome emails or subscription confirmations and create tags to keep your audience organized. The email builder is simple to use and compared with Mailerlite, my emails were less likely to land in spam. Overall, it has the tools experienced users need for email marketing, while still being very beginner-friendly. If you're new and want to understand what email marketing is all about, the free plan gives you a really good space to test ideas and learn what works. For beginners, having a place to experiment without paying is incredibly valuable and this free plan stands out for that. Of course even with 2,000 subscribers, a typical open rate of 20-30% means you may only get around 400 opens which still does not guarantee sales.

Cons

Support is basically nonexistent on the free plan. If you're in the business, make money online, or affiliate marketing niche, there's a good chance a bot will suspend your account right away. The frustrating part is that getting it reactivated is nearly impossible because nobody seems to respond to emails. If you stay on the free plan and run into problems, your best option is usually to search the knowledge base or look online for answers yourself.

all-in-one reporting powerhouse

Pros

Between the website, blog, ecommerce and even nonprofit integrations, it works really well as an all-in-one solution. The reporting is about as strong as you can get, most of the tools come free and the interface is very simple to use when it comes to editing.

Cons

Once you need features beyond the freemium offering, the pricing gets expensive. Email automation also has some limitations and their policy against affiliate marketing could be an issue for certain users.

versatile email and marketing powerhouse

Pros

From one platform, I can send email campaigns through the right channels and also create professional emails, landing pages social ads, postcards and plenty of other marketing assets. It gives me the option to use ready-made email templates or upload my own which is really convenient. The drag-and-drop editor makes it simple to arrange email elements and customize everything based on the content I need.

Cons

It really feels like an outstanding marketing platform for businesses of all types. Website owners can track and keep records of their site users and honestly I have not run into any drawbacks. It has worked perfectly for me without any noticeable cons.

helpful reporting for church outreach

Pros

Keeping our church informed has been much easier with this tool. It lets us send important updates out to the whole congregation quickly which has been especially valuable. The reporting is one of my favorite parts because it shows the real impact of adding links, including whether people actually clicked them or not. I also really appreciate the percentage reports since they let me see who is opening messages and give me meaningful statistics on engagement. During COVID, when we have not been able to meet in person, that kind of insight has been incredibly important.

Cons

They recently introduced a new editing view and it has made it a bit harder to create the layout I was used to. Still, it has not been a major issue overall especially considering they have provided it to us for free.

Pros

Right away, the biggest advantages of this platform are how simple it is to use and how accessible it feels. It offers excellent functionality and comes with plenty of options which makes it especially appealing.

Cons

campaigns and flows made simple

Pros

Creating campaigns and flows feels very easy and tracking overall email performance is just as simple. Setting up A/B tests is also quick and uncomplicated.

Cons

Beyond email performance, the amount of data you can track is fairly limited. If you're in e-commerce and want to build flows around customer behavior, this isn't really the strongest tool for that.

Simple setup and helpful tutorials

Pros

It was quick and using it day to day is very easy. There are lots of tutorials built in and online which helps a lot since so many people already use it. The interface is fairly simple and the newer versions have definitely improved it even more.

Cons

It can feel a bit limiting in terms of what you're able to do. Campaign options also seem fairly binary which can be restrictive. That said if you make good use of segmentation, you can still target smaller audience groups effectively.

powerful newsletters and collaboration

Pros

Right away, the drag-and-drop editor feels easy and working on the same newsletter with other team members is simple. Being able to create templates that someone else can reuse is really helpful and it handles thousands of subscribers well especially when you need to separate them into different lists. It's also useful that you can build pages directly on the platform and none of it requires coding knowledge.

Cons

On the downside, there isn't much design flexibility, such as templates being limited to a 600px width. The platform can also become confusing to navigate once you have a lot of pages and sub-pages, particularly when managing lists.
