reliable email campaigns

Pros

From building campaigns to sending them out, it handles email really well. it feels on par with other ESPs like Benchmark and Constant Contact. Even someone brand new to email marketing can put together attractive emails, send them to segmented lists and review the basic performance metrics without much trouble. Overall, it's a dependable option.

Cons

Part that frustrates me most is the search feature. If the right audience isn't selected and you don't type almost the exact email name, the search comes back with nothing. On top of that, the platform tends to change the site UI without notifying customers and that's something I really don't appreciate.

fantastic email tagging tools

Pros

At the current size of my business, I've only been using the free version and it still gives me a lot to work with. There are plenty of features included and I know I haven't even explored all of them yet. When it comes to collecting emails and sending bulk campaigns, it does exactly what I need. One feature I especially enjoy is being able to add tags to customers because it makes it much easier to choose which part of my audience should receive a specific campaign.

Cons

Only downside is that certain features, like automation, aren't included in the free plan but honestly that's more because I'm being cheap than anything else.

feature-packed and worth it

Pros

After using it for several years and testing quite a few other tools along the way, I can confidently say this is the most comprehensive and user-friendly software I've worked with. The wide range of features, combined with the platform's ongoing development, really gives you a reason to stick with it. It covers everything I need so I never feel like I'm missing any important tool.

Cons

It does cost more than some other options on the market but the benefits mentioned above definitely make up for the higher price.

Outdated platform!

Pros

Compared with what's out there now, this tool is starting to feel dated and its age is becoming more noticeable over time. I won't call out specific alternatives but there are definitely better options available today.

Cons

Mix-up between tags and audiences makes things confusing. It really needs a clearer, more consistent strategy.

affordable email marketing starter

Pros

Getting started with it is pretty easy and you can begin using it right away after signing up. It's a budget-friendly choice for anyone new to email marketing or trying to keep marketing expenses under control. There's also a free plan available and the only tradeoff is using one of their watermarks which really isn't very distracting and doesn't take away from the emails you send. Another plus is being able to create landing pages that match your email campaigns so all your campaign assets and tracking stay together in one platform.

Cons

At times, the email builder interface feels a bit weird to work with. While the layout is clean and spacious, navigating through it could get confusing for someone who isn't familiar with the different email options, like regular campaigns versus automated sends or segmentation tools. I've also noticed over time that my open rates tend to be lower with it compared to other email service providers. On top of that, it's a little too easy to accidentally delete lists or contacts while trying to manage counts.

newsletter creation made fast

Pros

After more than three years of using it, I realized that keeping things simple really can be the better option. The interface lets me put together a newsletter much faster than other programs I've worked with. One feature I especially appreciated was being able to choose the layout for each section and I used that whenever I had the chance. Since newsletters were a major part of success in my role, this software struck a nice balance by being easy while still detailed enough to earn positive feedback from the people receiving them.

Cons

One minor downside was how it performed on mobile. I ran into a few issues when sending emails and the mobile version sometimes felt a little out of sync. It wasn't a major problem and over the years the updates did improve it but it was still a small issue worth mentioning.

flexible integrations and verification

Pros

Their email verification works really well and creating easy email campaigns is very practical. It also connects nicely with social media and website subscription forms which makes collecting and managing subscribers much more convenient.

Cons

One downside is the pricing structure. Most clients are not sending newsletters every week or every day so paying to maintain a list can feel expensive. The free version supports up to 2,000 users, while the first paid package only includes 500 so the packages could really use some rethinking. Another frustrating change is that the free version used to let you customize emails with your own HTML templates and that's no longer possible.

Customizable templates and crm fit

Pros

Being able to upload my own artwork or build an email campaign from one of their templates was a big plus. They have a good variety of template designs depending on what you're trying to accomplish and once I picked one, the design tool was easy to work with. Another thing I appreciated was how well it integrated with the CRM I was already using.

Cons

Automation side didn't feel very simple to me. I also thought the campaign testing tools fell short because the preview options didn't show a very accurate mobile version of the email.

helpful analytics and free plan

Pros

Having access to a limited free version was really useful. It also did a good job of tracking my recipient list and giving clear details about who was on it. The analytics mattered a lot as well. Since my list was under 2,000 contacts, the free version was enough for what I needed.

Cons

I only used it from time to time when needed. After they recently redesigned the platform, I don't remember receiving any notice or warning about the changes. When I went back, all the names from my last list were gone, probably around 1,000 or so. It also seemed like the security settings were a bit too strict which ended up creating too many limits on how I could use it.

basic crm with limits

Pros

As a free option, it gives small businesses and non-profit organizations a chance to use basic CRM tools even with a limited number of contacts.

Cons

Free plan comes with only a few presentation design options, the reporting is limited and getting in touch with customer support was difficult.

simple workflow with quick adoption

Pros

The simplicity is what really makes this stand out. The workflow is very well done and the platform is simple to use without much effort. It also doesn't take much training to get people up and running.

Cons

I'd still like more detailed control over template design. The template builder also feels a little outdated for what we need.

fast newsletters and simple integration

Pros

Putting together and sending a weekly newsletter to our mailing list, or even specific segments, only takes a few minutes. The system feels very simple, is simple to work with and connects really well with all of our social media platforms.

Cons

Genuinely I love using it and would absolutely recommend it. I can't think of anything about it that feels difficult to use.

powerful contact segmentation

Pros

For our church, the standout feature has been the contact management and segmentation tools. They let us send emails to specific groups based on their engagement level and the ministry they're involved in which has been really valuable.

Cons

One area that still feels limited is the image editing tool. The graphic optimization features are fairly weak although they're still useful enough to get by.

Capable signup and segmentation

Pros

Right from setting up the account to tracking emails after delivery, the whole platform feels very easy to use. I especially rate how well it helps grow subscriptions through different sign-up methods and connecting everything needed for privacy law compliance is refreshingly simple. Contact management and segmentation are also handled in a very smart way. Being able to try and test so many features for free before committing to a paid plan really feels like the finishing touch.

Cons

This is only a minor thing but it would be nice if the free plan included a way to test some targeting features too, such as adding first names into the email body copy before upgrading. I can understand why that is reserved for paid accounts though it still would be a welcome addition.

well-organized email automation

Pros

Setting up automation with this platform feels very easy. The descriptions for user actions are clear so it's simple to trigger follow-up communications and build a really organized automated email system.

Cons

I'd still like to see more flexibility when it comes to customizing the visual style of the emails since a lot of messages sent through the service end up looking pretty similar.

Great free email starter

Pros

Getting up and running without spending anything is a big plus especially for a small business trying to build a decent-sized email list. The platform is still fairly simple to use even after the recent major changes. If all you need is easy email marketing without advanced automations, it works well and it's a tool a lot of people already know how to use.

Cons

A feature can feel pretty restricted depending on the plan. The most frustrating part of the free version is that email scheduling is no longer included so everything has to be sent manually at the exact time you want. That said considering it's free, that tradeoff makes some sense. On the paid side, I'd personally choose ActiveCampaign since it's still affordable but offers a lot more depth. With limited automation and more emphasis on simplicity than functionality, this one doesn't feel especially worthwhile once you start paying for it.

Next-gen targeting and reporting

Pros

Being able to target messages to different audiences has been really valuable. It lets us create templates or reuse previous messages and there are plenty of content and formatting options, whether we want to send plain text, text with images and more. The reporting is also very helpful, giving immediate feedback on how successful a campaign has been and it's a big plus that messages can also be pushed to social media.

Cons

One thing I'd love to see is the ability to copy and paste content between campaigns without losing the formatting although I realize that may be asking a lot.

contactless patient updates

Pros

Keeping patients informed about service changes especially during COVID, has been really convenient. It gives us a fast, contactless way to send out messages and communicate important updates efficiently.

Cons

Returned mail is still a challenge. It would be much better if there were a simpler way to manage those messages, pull them up quickly and correct obvious errors more easily.

fantastic email marketing toolkit

Pros

Having a WYSIWYG email marketing platform like this makes it much easier for SMBs to get a real handle on email marketing and lead generation. It lets you manage your database and put together polished emails in just minutes and the fact that you can do all of that for free is a huge plus. It's also very scalable which makes it even more valuable as your needs grow.

Cons

A few features are locked out of the free plan and if your contact list is large, you'll need to start paying pretty quickly. That said this is really the only notable drawback. If you're already comfortable with WYSIWYG tools, you'll probably feel right at home using it.

fast campaign setup and sending

Pros

Email campaign was fantastic because I could import an existing contact list and be ready to go almost immediately. The pre-built layouts were easy to work with so the whole process from import to send took hardly any time at all.

Cons

The reporting for A/B campaigns feels less simple than other report formats. I'd prefer a quicker way to see the overall campaign totals but it defaults to showing how version A performed versus version B. That comparison is useful but when I just want a quick view of the combined results, it takes a few extra steps.
