Much more than a newsletter tool

Pros

A free .com domain and website builder for five years through the offer felt like a huge bonus and that is still the part I appreciate the most. On top of that, I regularly send monthly newsletters and other types of emails and this has made that task much simpler. There are plenty of customization options and the templates are nicely designed so I can pick one, adjust it and get things done without much hassle. I originally signed up just for newsletters but I've ended up enjoying several of the other features as well.

Cons

One thing that could definitely be better is the user interface. When I first started using it, getting around the platform was confusing and some features felt buried in places that were not very simple. At times, it was hard to understand what would happen when clicking certain buttons which made the UI feel less user-friendly than it should be. I also think the mobile app is pretty limited in terms of features. It is not a major issue in my case since I handle most of my work on a PC but I would still prefer to have more functionality available on mobile.

Advanced features for small businesses

Pros

Among the most widely used online platforms for sending newsletters especially for small businesses that don't run their own email servers. It comes with a lot of advanced capabilities, including marketing and delivery analytics, transactional emails, business automation and integrations with many social networks.

Cons

A few things are frustrating though. First, the service can suspend or block an account which is hard to accept in a business setting where reliable email delivery is critical. Second, the built-in email templates are very basic and having more advanced options would help speed up deployment. Third, there's no way to send emails to multiple subscriber lists at the same time and that can turn into a real business bottleneck.

Reliable reporting and customization

Pros

Having used it for years across both my current role and a previous one, I can say it has been consistently reliable. The setup is easy and the level of customization is impressive especially when it comes to designing content the way we want. One feature we really value is the detailed reporting on delivered content, like how many times something was opened which makes it much easier to measure campaign performance and keep improving. That mix of flexibility and deep analytics is really what sets it apart from other options.

Cons

it is difficult to point to much that feels negative. If there is one thing, it would probably be the pricing. I am not the one handling purchasing but I know our purchase manager would definitely prefer a better pricing model since it seems to be one of the most expensive tools out there. Still, it does what it is supposed to do very well so there has not really been much room for complaint.

Excellent integrations for audience management

Pros

Setting up email campaigns is very easy and it's simple to segment audiences for different scenarios. The Zapier integrations are another big plus. Their Zapier setup works really well and makes it possible to pull in contacts from all kinds of sources and automatically feed them into your campaigns.

Cons

The part I'm not a fan of is the branding at the bottom of the emails. After putting in the work to create something that feels personal, that effect gets lost once people notice the branding and realize it's an automated stock message.

Keeping every member informed

Pros

Serving as the Membership and Sponsorship Chair for our professional organization, I was able to keep track of prospective, current and overdue members without much trouble. Once I put the email content together, it also helped me make sure each member group was contacted and kept informed about chapter updates and news.

Cons

A few parts of MailChip felt somewhat confusing. For someone using it for the first time, the interface can take a while to figure out before you fully understand how to set up and run a campaign effectively.

Built for collaborative email creation

Pros

This tool does exactly what I need it to do and it does it really well. Putting together polished, professional-looking emails is simple and the templates make it possible for even non-designers on my team to create strong email content. The collaboration features are also a big plus especially being able to assign different user levels so people can contribute or approve as needed. It fits my team's workflow really well.

Cons

I honestly don't have any complaints. It handles everything I need for my role without any issues.

Frustrating experience despite its reputation

Pros

One of the biggest advantages is that it gives startups and small businesses a way to start email marketing without spending money upfront. When you're just getting established, that can make a real difference. It includes all the core tools needed to begin with email marketing and for a lot of users that's exactly what they need to get going...BUT there are better alternatives out there.

Cons

It's surprising that a company that's been around this long still has such a poor UX/UI. A lot of the platform feels difficult to use much of the time, tough, confusing and pretty frustrating. Tasks that only take a couple of minutes in other email marketing tools can end up taking 15 to 30 minutes here, simply because it takes so long to figure things out. For people who are new or not especially tech-savvy, that can become a major source of frustration although if they haven't used anything else before, they might not realize how much better it could be.

Useful across multiple business needs

Pros

Whether it's collecting votes or getting feedback from users and customers, this has been a really useful tool across different parts of an organization. We used it for email campaigns tied to proprietary software as well as on our company website and it was simple to edit with lots of widgets, clickable links and a strong visual format for presenting an organization's portfolio in a more interactive way.

Cons

It could still offer more ways to collect client feedback and allow better interaction with consumers.

Professional emails without design skills

Pros

Even without a design background, it's really easy to use and it lets anyone put together attractive email templates in very little time.

Cons

Only downside is the cost since our company only uses it occasionally depending on the client so we end up paying for something we do not fully use.

Fast and flexible content creation

Pros

Putting together content blocks with text and image uploads is very easy and quick.

Cons

Reporting feels a bit limited when it comes to tracking a specific URL. For instance, if I send 50 emails and each one contains 10 outbound links, I'd like a simpler way to monitor just one of those links instead of digging through every email report and adding up the clicks manually. This may need an API integration.

Best-in-class email design

Pros

The visual side of this software is what really won me over. The ready-made models are excellent and when it comes to design quality, I honestly still haven't come across anything better on the market.

Cons

What disappointed me was how much they cut back the resources in the free version. That makes a huge difference for beginners especially for those of us living in Brazil, where 1 dollar equals 5 reais sometimes almost 6 so the cost becomes very expensive. Another thing that is really lacking is the absence of a translation in our language.

Results that justify the investment

Pros

Reaching prospects and loyal customers is much quicker with this tool. It comes with plenty of mailer ideas that can fit different marketing strategies and managing contacts is very easy. At first, we felt the pricing was on the higher side but the results really changed our opinion. Rather than calling prospects individually to see whether they might be interested, we can send mailers to everyone at once and usually get at least 3 inquiries for every 100 emails. It's accurate, delivers emails reliably, helps keep contacts organized and saves a significant amount of time and effort.

Cons

There's nothing major to complain about. If anything, the pricing might seem a bit high at first but once the results start coming in, it doesn't really feel like an issue anymore.

Simple software that delivers

Pros

Everything about the software feels well planned and it delivers on what it says it will do. The interface is fairly easy, navigation makes sense and getting up and running doesn't take much effort at all.

Cons

Since the pricing structure changed, it feels more expensive than the value it gives me. It's definitely not as affordable as it was when I first signed up. Because of the current pricing, I wouldn't use it for a large campaign since the campaign costs would probably end up being higher than the sales I'd generate. That's how I see it based on the pricing model now.

Beginner-friendly and easy to master

Pros

Right away, I appreciated how simple it is to use and how immediate the interface feels. The wide selection of available themes also makes the tool really useful especially for beginners or for anyone who does not need to create massive DEMs.

Cons

Once you move into more advanced features, it can feel a little less easy but after using it for a while, you get used to it.

Smarter marketing with audience insights

Pros

One feature that's been especially helpful is the new branded graphics tool that builds visuals from your website. The audience insights are also valuable for identifying people and targeting them based on how engaged they are. The templates are fairly simple to work with and being able to schedule content ahead of time makes regular posting much more manageable.

Cons

The biggest frustration is how often I get prompted to verify my identity even when I'm using the same computer. The design templates are fairly easy but it would be much better if copying a color from one section and applying it across other sections was more convenient. Cleaning up the audience list also feels less simple and more tough than it should be.

All-in-one solution for outreach

Pros

It fits a huge range of features into what feels like a simple email platform. For a lot of small businesses and nonprofits, it covers just about everything they need for email marketing and contact management in one place.

Cons

Other tools in the same price range offer stronger marketing automation. This platform really excels at email but once you get into automated workflows and deeper data capabilities, it starts to feel a little limited.

Easy audience engagement and growth

Pros

The templates are fantastic for staying connected with my audience and the site is simple to navigate. I've also had good results importing contacts I collected from other platforms.

Cons

Segmentation in the free version is pretty limiting. You're restricted to just one "audience" unless you either have great coding skills to work around the grouping limits with custom signup forms or upgrade your plan. I'd also really appreciate more easy controls for adjusting font sizes and colors while building campaigns since I usually end up tweaking the final draft for a while to keep everything aligned with my branding.

Great tool with gentle learning curve

Pros

One thing I've really appreciated is that you don't need much technical knowledge to start using it. The learning curve feels pretty gentle so getting familiar with the platform doesn't take long.

Cons

Part I like least is that it's only available in English and setting up the automations isn't quite as easy as it could be.

all-in-one growth tools

Pros

Running a small business means juggling a lot of moving parts and that can get overwhelming fast. This integrated marketing platform helps bring everything together in one place. From email marketing to social sharing buttons and other tools you need to expand your business, it covers the full process and makes managing day-to-day growth much more manageable from beginning to end.

Cons

One area that could be better is the support team, as responses to support requests can sometimes take longer than expected.

powerful templates for growth

Pros

One of the biggest reasons I've stuck with this for more than five years is the quality of the templates. Email newsletters have become a major part of my company's growth and the built-in email collection tools and templates have helped us keep growing year after year through email marketing.

Cons

At the same time some legitimate emails do end up getting flagged as spam. When too many get marked that way, there's a real chance your account could be suspended or even deleted which can definitely be stressful.
