Top highly customizable

Pros

Right away the tool feels very user friendly and I really appreciate how customizable it is. It's simple to work with and does a good job of helping build more efficient project management processes.

Cons

The reporting features aren't my favorite because they feel a little limited. I also wish the tool included a client-facing feature since that's something it currently lacks.

Helpful collaboration

Pros

It works well as both a collaboration hub and a place to store resources and access information. The email feature is especially useful and adds a lot of value.

Cons

It's not quite as user friendly as I'd want and I'd really like to have more customization options available.

Fantastic free collaboration hub

Pros

The tool is incredibly easy to use and it integrates well with just about everything. A lot of our partner companies use it too which makes managing projects across different businesses really convenient whenever needed. The free version is surprisingly complete and fully usable and it includes features that other free platforms offer in a much more limited way.

Cons

I do not really have anything negative to say about it. At a price of $0, it is an outstanding tool and something every business should be taking advantage of.

Task tracking that really delivers

Pros

Keeping tasks visible and sharing progress with everyone on the project works really well in Asana. It makes it simple for team members to stay aligned and keep track of what's moving forward.

Cons

One limitation is that tasks cannot be copied and pasted into other projects. It would also be a nice addition to have more options for customizing project reports.

Powerful team project control

Pros

Keeping teamwork organized with this tool is fantastic for a company. The timeline view lays out the schedule clearly and it gives you good control over team projects.

Cons

A few features can be difficult to figure out At first so you end up testing different options to understand them. The free trial is helpful but the paid version is definitely where it works best.

Fantastic task views

Pros

Having both the My Tasks area and the project workspace has been a huge plus. My Tasks lets you view everything assigned to you, along with tasks you created, across all projects in different layouts, almost like having a virtual to-do list in one place. Being able to filter by project or sort by due date makes it even more useful. The project workspace is excellent as well. You can break a project into multiple sections with tasks and subtasks and each task includes helpful details like the assignee, due date or date range, dependencies and more which makes managing work much easier. The Timeline view is especially helpful because it visually shows task dependencies with curved lines and that makes planning much clearer.

Cons

One thing that gets frustrating is that task dependencies do not update automatically when you change the due date or date range of dependent tasks. Because of that, conflicts are only really noticeable when you look at the Timeline view so I end up checking it constantly to make sure nothing is off. On top of that the Timeline view does not include a critical path which feels like a missing feature.

Pros

Absolutely love it and our team would have a hard time staying on track without Asana!

Cons

there's nothing to complain about. It's an excellent product all around and I'd definitely recommend giving it a try.

Powerful team coordination platform

Pros

There's definitely a learning curve to it but that helps explain why so many small and mid-sized organizations rely on Asana for project management and collaboration. It's a powerful, dependable platform with strong security features and if you're coordinating a team of freelancers, it can be one of the best choices out there.

Cons

For people who aren't very technical, the setup and overall interface can feel overwhelming at the beginning. It really helps to put together onboarding documentation that explains exactly how you want your IT boards to be used. Another common frustration is the volume of notifications so users should be shown how to adjust those settings on both desktop and mobile.

Modern planning

Pros

Asana is like a modern project planning, task tracking and dependency management platform. Keeping up with timelines, dependencies and overall progress is easy because it offers different visualization charts to work with. Also it promotes an open organizational culture, where anyone across the company can see the direction the organization is heading and follow the progress of different projects. On top of that it shares achievements and project completions which helps keep everyone informed and up to date. The collaboration features between teams and individuals are also really useful when it comes to planning.

Cons

It's a great tool with a lot of interesting features to explore but there is definitely a learning curve before you can use everything effectively. Aside from that, the platform is pretty impressive overall.

Top fantastic for team task tracking

Pros

As a task and project management tool, this has been excellent for our small team. We only rely on the basic free features and honestly they've been more than enough for what we need. Creating a new workspace, team or project only takes a couple of minutes and after that it's simple to start assigning tasks right away. I have used it across different kinds of projects and it has made a huge difference in helping us stay on top of tasks and monitor progress.

Cons

One downside is that it can generate a lot of emails if the setup isn't configured properly. It would also be nice to have a few more notification options available.

Top recurring tasks done right

Pros

Asana covers everything I'd expect from task tracking software and then adds even more. The feature I use the most is recurring tasks and I really appreciate how simple it is to look back through the history of those recurring items.

Cons

I haven't come across a competitor that does it better yet. That's not really a problem with it though.

Behind competitors

Pros

The interface looks professional and the templates give you a fairly good place to begin. Since the platform has been around for quite a while, there's also a good amount of community content and YouTube videos that help with different use cases.

Cons

Across our organization the overall reaction has been negative. People see it as difficult to work with and it's missing integrations that other competing tools already offer. On top of that the support documentation doesn't go into enough detail and feels outdated.

Interactive task comments

Pros

Having multiple projects in one place works really well for me and the drag-and-drop option makes organizing everything much more convenient. The newer ability to add comments on tasks and subtasks is especially awesome too. Being able to react with a thumbs up or even a GIF makes collaboration feel much more interactive and engaging.

Cons

The timeline is probably the feature I use the least here. Another drawback is that once the team starts getting bigger, having to move to a paid plan can be a bit of a hassle for smaller companies. Other than that, the features overall still meet my expectations well.

Clear project tracking wins

Pros

As a project management tool, it does a really good job of breaking down large projects and making everything easier to follow. You can quickly see what's currently in progress, what still needs attention and who is responsible for each task.

Cons

One small annoyance is how image attachments work in comments as they feel a bit confusing since the image shows up both at the top and again within the comment body.

Fantastic for team tracking

Pros

It helps our team keep tabs on shared projects and monitor everything we're working on together. We can also mark tasks off as they're completed which makes progress really clear.

Cons

At first the layout can feel a bit cramped. But after spending some time with the platform, it starts to feel much more user friendly.

Versatile team collaboration

Pros

I must say it works really well for team collaboration, project management and keeping track of specific tasks across different groups. It's nice that it offers several layout options so people can use whichever view suits them best. The free version is also quite amazing if all you need is basic planning software.

Cons

I cannot think of any real downsides at the moment. It's been pretty good software overall.

Visual project management delight

Pros

Asana makes project setup really easy, whether it's a shared team project, a personal list or a Kanban board. The layout is very visual, permissions are simple to manage across teams and it works really well for collaboration. It also has a fun side to it, with little touches like the unicorn flying across the screen when you complete a task which makes using it more enjoyable.

Cons

One thing that could be better is the integration with G Suite. I wanted to connect it with Google Calendar but getting that working took some IFTTT workaround effort instead of being something built in and ready to go right away.

Useful task view, pricey plans

Pros

It is a simple tool and I can attach plenty of information to the cases I manage. It also gives me a clear overview of all my activities which makes everything easier to follow.

Cons

The cost is higher than other software options and that ended up being a problem for us. We actually had to switch to another platform, Jira because it offered basically the same features at a lower price.

feature rich project control

Pros

Compared with a lot of project management tools out there, this one stands out as one of the better options. It's user friendly and packed with features though the design can feel a little scattered because of how much it offers. With so many capabilities, it takes time to figure out which parts you'll actually use and how to set up your layout and workflows in the best way. That really comes down to just how feature-rich it is.

Cons

There are moments when it feels a bit disorganized and cluttered simply because it includes so many features and options to choose from.

Task tracking that clicks

Pros

Handling client work feels much more organized with this program. My ideas tend to be scattered across different projects and this helped me bring everything into order. Being able to group projects into sub-categories made me work more efficiently and the card-style layout makes it easy to see exactly where things stand and which tasks still need attention. It also gives a clear overall view of the progress already made. Since I only manage a limited number of projects, the free tier has been more than enough for everything I need.

Cons

Getting started was a little challenging and there is definitely a learning curve at the beginning.
