Useful templates

Pros

The boards are organized really well and the project templates are something I genuinely appreciate for different kinds of work.

Cons

Since Microsoft Office already includes Planner at no extra cost, it seems pricey by comparison.

Versatile task views

Pros

From projects and tasks to sub-tasks, dependencies, blockers and everything in between, it covers pretty much everything you'd expect from project management software. Being able to switch between list, board and timeline views is especially useful for seeing what's on your plate, when things are due and what should be tackled first.

Cons

It would be helpful to have formal task statuses for approved, review and informed so the right people stay updated and nothing gets delayed by someone who may or may not need to sign off. The timeline view can also become a little messy once dependencies start piling up.

Flexible workflows choice

Pros

It is easy to use and it adapts really well to the way our organization and teams work. The customization options fit our setup nicely and the instant notifications keep everyone current on project progress while making it clear who is responsible for each part.

Cons

At this point there really isn't much I can point to that needs improvement.

Practical anywhere

Pros

Asana is very user friendly and highly actionable. It's one of those systems that keeps things moving and even on a cell phone you can still get your work done without much trouble.

Cons

One thing that gets annoying is the number of reminders it sends. The pop-up notifications come up so often that they can be irritating and checking them again and again ends up using a lot of data.

Clean layout for staying organized

Pros

The interface and overall layout are really well designed and it's been very handy for keeping myself organized.

Cons

Anyone who isn't very comfortable with technology might need a little time to learn how to use it properly.

Flexible team fit

Pros

Getting started with it is incredibly simple and adopting it across the team doesn't take much effort. Whether the team is small or large, it feels like you get exactly what you need out of it.

Cons

The interface could be a little more user friendly. For instance when adding or deleting tasks inside a project, you have to be very precise or things can change unexpectedly.

Friendly interface choice

Pros

Right away Asana seems simple and approachable to use. The interface is very user friendly, it offers several different project view options and it also lets you connect cloud storage services like Google Drive, Box, Dropbox and others.

Cons

One limitation is that its mobile app is not compatible with some older Android phones. If your device is running Android Lollipop 5.1.1 or below, you won't be able to install it. It also still lacks integration with certain storage services such as MegaUpload, 4shared and iCloud.

Transparent project planning win

Pros

Asana does a really good job of keeping team projects organized and making it clear what everyone is working on. It's also very useful for managing my own individual tasks. The calendar view is especially helpful when I want a big-picture look at everything currently in the pipeline.

Cons

The thing that still bothers me is that email notifications keep landing in my inbox even after I have turned them off. Aside from that, I really don't have any complaints.

Cheerful task tracking powerhouse

Pros

Juggling several projects or client accounts at the same time is much more manageable with this tool. The interface feels bright and clean and being able to tag teammates on next steps helps keep work moving so nothing stalls.

Cons

The mobile app interface can be a little finicky now and then although it hasn't caused any major problems for us. It's also worth noting that the paid plans are typically charged per user each month so the cost can rise pretty fast for bigger teams.

Easy boards

Pros

Getting project boards and timelines up and running in it is very easy especially for first-time users.

Cons

It does a good job of tracking the stages of task completion but it doesn't let you track the time team members actually spend working on their tasks.

Excellent project visibility

Pros

Working with teams across the same organization feels much more organized with this tool because it gives strong visibility into project management. It also does a very good job with task management on an individual level which makes staying on top of personal responsibilities much easier.

Cons

There are not many customization options available but honestly they are not really necessary. The tool works very well as it is.

Fantastic for recurring projects

Pros

It does a really good job of keeping my team on track and making sure no tasks get missed. The templates are especially helpful since a lot of our work follows the same repeatable project structure.

Cons

As a first-time user it wasn't very user friendly so getting comfortable with it took more time than I expected. I had to spend a fair amount of time in the help section to pick up useful tips and understand how everything works.

Collaboration that keeps teams aligned

Pros

Working on projects with a team is really effective in Asana and the collaboration features make it easy to stay aligned. I also really appreciate being able to create project templates which saves time and keeps recurring work organized.

Cons

One thing that bothers me is that tasks disappear after they're marked complete. That makes it a lot easier to lose track of what was done or even forget those tasks were ever there.

Perfect flexible workflows

Pros

Compared with other project management tools, Asana feels much more flexible and adaptable. A lot can be customized and adjusted to fit the way your team works which is especially valuable for less complicated projects where resource management is not a major priority. A marketing campaign, for example, can be handled really well in Asana because scheduling is simple, efficient and you can build templates that match your exact process. The interface is also very clean and minimalist which makes the workspace pleasant to use. When something is not immediately clear, there is a very useful support guide available with tutorials, webinars and other learning materials. Another big plus is that the platform keeps getting updated with strong new features. One example is the Project Overview tab added in January 2021 which gives you a landing page showing team members and their roles, key files and documents and more. It also lets you embed videos and other media through different app integrations.

Cons

It has gotten more expensive over time and it now costs more than some competing products. It can also be pretty hard for beginners to pick up because there is so much functionality built into it. As a result, new users usually need to spend time going through tutorials and training before they feel comfortable using everything properly. Another minor drawback is the lack of built-in time tracking so you cannot log how long each team member spent working on a task.

Clean workspace

Pros

After spending months comparing task management tools for our small team of eight, my boss and I finally landed on one that checked every box. We needed something that made communication simple while also giving us a clear place to track to-dos that weren't tied to a specific project and this has done exactly that. Two years later, we still haven't felt the need to switch. A few things I especially appreciate are the clean, minimal interface, the ability to move a project between board columns, list view and calendar view without any hassle and the incredible customer support. They also keep improving the platform with regular updates and a lot of the features we wished existed when we first started are now built in.

Cons

The inbox is really the one area that feels a bit tedious. It needs regular cleaning because it can get out of hand pretty quickly so that's definitely the part I'd most like to see improved.

Clean design that keeps me engaged

Pros

The interface has a really clean, visually pleasing design and that alone makes it enjoyable to use. The recent updates especially make the whole experience seem fun and inviting which honestly makes me want to keep coming back to it.

Cons

Back when I was using it, the project management side felt pretty bare-bones, with only the most essential tools available. From what I can tell, recent updates seem to have addressed some of that. Even so, the overall UX still isn't the most effective when you're trying to see the bigger picture and at times it feels more like a more expanded version of Trello.

Task-based messaging is fantastic

Pros

Being able to message coworkers directly within the specific task or project assigned to us has been really helpful and something I have genuinely enjoyed using.

Cons

One thing that doesn't work well is how tasks with due dates are organized as they don't show up under sections like Today or Later and instead just remain in Recently Assigned once they've been assigned.

Top better teamwork

Pros

Our team can collaborate much more effectively on projects while also staying on top of daily tasks At the same time which has been really helpful.

Flexible boards

Pros

Asana has been really useful for tracking tasks, whether they're standalone items or part of a bigger project. Setting up tasks is easy and the automatic reminders help make sure important deadlines don't get missed. Having multiple boards along with different viewing options like list and calendar makes it an especially practical tool to work with.

Cons

One thing I wish was better is assigning the same task to multiple people. Right now, I have to duplicate the task and reselect the key details which turns into a repetitive step since I need to do it often.

Friendly task tracking

Pros

The interface is fun and pleasant to use. I worked with my teammates on it to keep up with the tasks I needed to take care of and to track what everyone else was working on too. Even my manager, who is not very tech-savvy, was able to get everything set up without any trouble.

Cons

Even though the UI looks really nice, I have run into loading issues with it. At times a tab has to be refreshed and other times there are problems when uploading a file. They are fairly minor issues but the inconsistency makes it hard to tell whether something is actually wrong on my end.
