Versatile teamwork across departments

Pros

Across our organization it has been a very versatile tool. We use it in IT/development, product leadership, operations and marketing and it still delivers strong project management structure and accountability for each of those very different teams.

Cons

It keeps releasing new features but a lot of them are locked behind upgrades beyond the paid plan we already have. Once you factor in the per-user pricing especially since we use it company-wide, it ends up being a pretty expensive choice.

Dependable tracking across teams

Pros

It is easy to use and performs reliably across every platform I need. In telecom, I manage hundreds of sites that have to be recorded, tracked, followed up on and assigned to team members across different departments and it handles that really well. It's extremely useful, very dependable and the calendar view does a nice job of showing the overall workload at a glance.

Cons

I don't have any real complaints about it. If anything, it could be nice to have a bit more personalization, like the option to change the background but that's not really necessary.

Task tracking that keeps teams aligned

Pros

Keeping tasks organized in it has made a big difference for our team and employees can follow the progress of specific assignments much more clearly.

Cons

The pricing seems fairly high for the set of tools we actually use. A tiered plan based on usage or number of active users would make a lot more sense.

Practical tools for time management

Pros

Having a practical setup for managing time made a big difference especially with the variety of free and simple tools available to use. It works well as a task management platform making it convenient to see completed tasks and organize schedules across a longer time frame.

Cons

One thing that still needs work is task sharing with team members directly from the app dashboard instead of relying only on email. It would also be better if the scheduling feature were included in the free version since the app already offers scheduling functionality.

Helpful task tracking

Pros

Keeping up with daily assigned tasks is much more manageable with this feature and it also provides up-to-date reports on completed work and achieved tasks.

Cons

The smaller plan comes with limited storage which isn't enough for larger projects and notifications can sometimes arrive late.

Fast team onboarding

Pros

Getting a new team up and running is quick and the collaboration results have been really amazing. Bringing in external teams is surprisingly simple and the whole setup process is much faster than with other tools I've used.

Cons

Breaking larger tasks down into subtasks is more limited than in some competing products. Subtasks have to be managed more at the group level, rather than in a setup that feels more personal or tailored to individual users.

Staying on track together

Pros

Keeping up with my full business and website rebrand has been much easier with Asana. I can clearly see what my designer is working on at any given time and what she needs from me to keep things moving. It also helps both of us stay aligned on our responsibilities and deadlines so nothing gets missed and the project stays on schedule.

Cons

The only thing I'd really change is the pricing. It would be nice if there were a more affordable plan or even a free option, for businesses that are still growing. The free trial just doesn't feel long enough.

great design

Pros

It takes almost no effort to use. The interface is very simple, clear and friendly which makes the whole experience feel comfortable from the start. I also use the free account a lot and it offers great value for what I need.

Cons

One feature I'd really like to see added is Gantt chart functionality. I think the tool would benefit a lot from having that option available.

Clear task tracking

Pros

Keeping track of our tasks was really easy and having a visual way to confirm that my boss and I were aligned made a big difference. It helped clearly outline my responsibilities and ensured the work was actually moving forward and getting completed.

Cons

Getting everything set up wasn't instant. Before we could really benefit from it, we had to spend some time customizing the templates to fit the way we work. That part took a bit of effort but once it was in place, using it felt very simple.

simple task planning standout

Pros

It is a reliable tool and setting up projects was easy from the beginning. Breaking a project into phases and then turning those phases into individual tasks was simple to do and made everything feel organized. The task system is easily the strongest part for me. Being able to schedule tasks across a timeline, assign priority levels and add subtasks for more detailed work makes it especially valuable for business use. The daily task list is also a nice touch for keeping up with immediate work and the monthly view helps when you want to compare what's happening on specific days versus looking at the bigger picture over time.

Cons

The downsides were mostly tied to the specific needs of my firm since we require a tool that can handle hour allocation. If it could include time tracking across an entire project and then let us assign planned hours to each team member on a weekly basis, it would probably become the top choice for my team. One smaller frustration is the single-assignee setup for tasks. I understand their reasoning around having one primary owner but for collaborative work it would be much more practical to assign multiple people to the same task instead of creating separate versions for each person.

Easy workflow

Pros

Compared with using Excel or Google Sheets, it works much better especially when you want to use it like a CRM. The user experience feels cleaner and far more user friendly for most people which makes it easier to work in day to day.

Cons

A few features and integrations are still missing if you want to rely on it as a complete CRM, particularly in the real estate industry. Even with that, it's still a nice place to keep tasks organized.

Fantastic for team coordination

Pros

Setting up tasks is easy and with the right permissions you can assign them to other team members whenever needed. Asana also includes a chat feature which is really helpful for quick back-and-forth communication. Being able to add projects to the calendar is a big plus when you're working around deadlines.

Cons

One downside is that the nonstop notifications for every little update can start to feel overwhelming and frustrating. The per-user pricing can also get expensive as your team grows.

Remote teamwork essential

Pros

Working from home has been so much better with this product because it keeps everyone connected no matter where we're working. Whenever we need support, it gives us a quick way to reach managers or ask coworkers for help and get answers much faster. It has honestly become a necessary tool and something we really rely on for remote work.

Cons

About the only thing that bothers me is that you can't customize its color scheme. That's really the only con I can think of. Even then, it's not a major issue at all. If anything, the harder part is how difficult it can be to fully disconnect from work once I'm off.

Powerful teamwork

Pros

Working with Asana has been a big plus for our team because it's one of the strongest collaboration tools out there for workplace coordination. The task management features are especially practical and help teams stay organized while handling assignments. It's also one of the most complete platforms we've used and it has performed exceptionally well in supporting the progress of our research protocol approval process. Our team relies heavily on the Gantt Chart feature since it gives us a clear view of upcoming project activity along with status updates.

Cons

Getting started with it can feel overwhelming and a bit complex for brand-new users who don't have prior experience with this kind of software. Adding some beginner-friendly guidance or onboarding inside the platform would probably make the experience much better for first-time users.

Helpful project tracking

Pros

Asana has been a really good tool for managing projects. It makes it simple to track progress, assign tasks to different team members and keep everyone aligned. It also helps a lot with staying updated on timelines and project changes as things move forward.

Cons

There's nothing I specifically dislike about it though I do think some other platforms offer more functionality and are a bit easier to integrate with other tools.

Powerful planning

Pros

It has been one of the strongest collaboration tools we've used especially for task management across the team. It's a very complete platform and has played a major role in improving our research protocol approval process. Before we can begin collecting data from patient databases, several approvals have to be completed and Asana helps us monitor every step of that progress clearly. Because of that visibility, the team can stay organized and work on other responsibilities more efficiently at the same time. The Gantt chart is probably the feature we rely on most since it gives us a clear view of pending project activities along with status updates. On top of that the calendar view, input forms and Kanban board make it flexible enough to support many other types of projects as well.

Cons

It really does feel like a full-featured project management system with strong tools for task tracking and monitoring assigned work but it can be a bit too complex and overwhelming for someone who is completely new to this kind of software. A built-in beginner orientation or onboarding guide would probably make the first experience much better for new users.

Team communication

Pros

Asana comes with a lot of functionality and gives you plenty of flexibility in how you manage work. Being able to keep certain projects private for specific users is especially helpful. The task lists are clear to follow and communicating with other users inside the system is very convenient.

Cons

My only real issue was the interface. Since the software includes so many features, it can be difficult for new users or people who only use it for one simple task to figure out where things are.

Pros

Using it has made my work much more manageable and keeps the whole company organized. Also it is easy to use and handling all projects through it is very convenient.

Top task tracking that keeps teams aligned

Pros

Being able to assign tasks to team members and get notified when they finish them or have a question is really helpful for staying on top of everything.

Cons

One issue I ran into was when I needed to change the primary email address on my profile. The system would not allow it so I ended up having to delete my account and create a new one. Customer support was not helpful either.

has come a long way

Pros

Back when Asana still had that blue interface, it felt pretty laggy and buggy even though I already liked its overall approach and feature set. The mobile side especially was underwhelming at the time. Since then, it has improved a ton and honestly feels like a completely different product now. Asana really matured and it happened fast. Huge credit to the team for that progress.

Cons

One downside is that the pricing has become pretty excessive lately. It used to feel like a strong value but now it seems like they've captured enough of the market that they're squeezing as much revenue out of it as possible. The good thing is that more competitors are showing up now so there are at least other options to consider.
