beautiful team coordination

Pros

As a project management system, it works really well. The interface is simple to use, visually appealing to move through and it does a good job of keeping everyone on the team connected.

Cons

The free version already worked very well for us and the paid plan doesn't feel all that different aside from allowing more users in the organization.

organized projects and clear ownership

Pros

Asana keeps our day to day work well organized and makes it simple to assign tasks to the right people, departments and companies. It works really well for project management and helps everything stay on track.

Cons

The only thing I really wish it handled better is integrating with timekeeping software. Other than that I honestly do not have much to complain about with the program.

fantastic task flow and search

Pros

Calling myself a super-fan would not even be much of a stretch because I genuinely love almost everything about it. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the Today, Upcoming and Later sections. That may sound like a small detail but that simple way of organizing tasks, time and priorities has completely changed how I work, both for myself and with my clients. It helps me focus on what matters right now without losing sight of bigger long-term goals. On top of that the collaboration tools are excellent. I manage almost every part of my business in it such as blog content, client processes, meetings, presentations and more. Pretty much everything gets tracked there. Because of that handing off work and collaborating with others is very practical. Another feature that has been really important for me is Advanced Search. They removed it from the free plan recently but it looks like I was grandfathered in. if you use it as heavily as I do, that feature alone is probably worth paying for. I have hundreds of tasks in the system across multiple teams, projects and sections and trying to manage that without a strong, easy-to-use search tool would be a nightmare and probably a deal-breaker. Thankfully, its Advanced Search works really well and the Saved Search feature makes it quick to pull up the searches I use most often.

Cons

There are really two things that bother me. First I'm not a fan of its Home or Inbox tabs at all. I honestly don't understand why they're so central and it's frustrating that the default view is Home instead of My Tasks. The Home page feels cluttered and doesn't give me a useful or meaningful picture of my day or priorities. I ended up making a custom bookmark directly to My Tasks just so I could avoid it. Inbox is similar for me. It's not that I've had a terrible experience using it, I just don't really see the purpose of it. Even after coaching dozens of entrepreneurs on how to use it, I still haven't come across a strong or practical use case for the Inbox tab.

practical project tracking

Pros

One of my clients runs all of their projects through Asana and for my role delivering marketing content, it has been really helpful. It keeps deadlines clear, shows me exactly which projects I'm assigned to and makes it simple to share content with the rest of the team. Overall it feels very practical for staying organized.

Cons

There was a bit of a learning curve At first mostly because I had been using Trello for years and the two platforms work differently. After spending some time with it though, I realized it offers a lot more features than Trello once you understand how everything is set up.

powerful collaboration and flexibility

Pros

Right away the pyramid-style setup feels very well thought out. Asana offers a huge range of features and options but it doesn't force every user to use all of them. If someone only needs a simple way to manage and track tasks at a basic level, it works well for that and feels approachable for beginners. At the same time once you dig a little deeper, there's a lot of power there for more advanced users. The collaboration side of the platform is especially impressive and honestly hard to beat.

Cons

One thing that bothers me is how often the company seems to refresh the UI even when the changes don't really improve anything. The product is already very strong as it is so these interface updates can feel unnecessary. I understand they have a development team and probably want to keep changing things but when the layout shifts without adding real value, it just makes the software more confusing to use.

clean design and handy reminders

Pros

I find it simple and the interface seems clean, modern and visually appealing. It also offers plenty of integrations and APIs which adds a lot of flexibility. The recurring tasks feature has been especially useful since it makes my monthly report reminders much more manageable.

Cons

One thing that could be better is the lack of direct customer support. Other than that I didn't run into much to dislike although Freedcamp did feel a bit sleeker and more office-friendly in comparison.

task tracking made simple

Pros

At first everything was chaotic but once we started using it, things changed completely. It's surprising how much one app can simplify daily work. Now I can clearly see what everyone is working on and how much time tasks are taking which makes managing the team much easier.

Cons

Customer support isn't very good and the user experience could definitely use some improvement.

free plan with useful integrations

Pros

One of the biggest advantages is the free plan which offers enough capacity for smaller teams. It also integrates well with Slack and a variety of other platforms which makes it even more practical to use.

Cons

A downside is that each task has to be assigned to one specific team member. That can feel restrictive when several people need to contribute or provide input on the same task.

Feature packed but overly complex

Pros

At my previous company, I worked with Asana and there honestly wasn't a whole lot that stood out to me in a positive way. It does come with a lot of features and that's pretty much the one thing I'd give it credit for.

Cons

There was a lot about it that didn't work well for me. The biggest issue was how complicated everything felt and right behind that was the performance. It was slow to use and often dragged down my browser and computer.

Great tool overall

Pros

It is a great tool. The interface is user friendly and simple to use. Even the more advanced features are laid out in a clear, well-designed way which makes them much easier to understand. The variety of templates is also really useful for aligning the tool with different business functions.

Cons

Overall the experience has been very positive. One thing that could make it even better would be offering occasional webinars to walk users through best practices for using it effectively.

task tracking lifesaver

Pros

Keeping up with a nonstop to-do list has been so much easier with Asana. I use it every day to stay current on projects, deadlines and individual tasks and it helps me make sure nothing slips through the cracks. Being able to assign tasks to coworkers inside the organization is a huge plus because it keeps everyone aligned and working from the same page. It also comes with a lot of useful features, like an Excel-style format, the ability to print tasks and projects and even a recovery option in case you need to pull something back after marking it complete. Our organization uses the free version and even that has been a real lifesaver. one of the biggest wins is that my desk is no longer buried under sticky notes and handwritten to-do lists.

Cons

Getting started with the program does take a bit of adjustment at first. When we were setting up projects and assigning tasks to team members, there was some confusion because colleagues began receiving email notifications. A few people were not happy about that since they felt it added unnecessary clutter to their inboxes.

Simple interface and familiar layout

Pros

The interface is user friendly and thoughtfully designed. It has a familiar feel, much like many messaging apps so people can jump in and quickly understand where everything is and what they can do without much effort.

Cons

The pricing is hard for a small company to justify especially if you want access to the more advanced features.

versatile event planning powerhouse

Pros

As a project management platform, this has been a really strong fit for our team. We rely on it every day to keep our events organized and it's user friendly enough that people can jump in quickly. It also has the flexibility to be adjusted based on what each project needs which makes it work well across different situations.

Cons

One thing I'd still like to see improved is the process for undoing an archived project. We've had new team members archive one by mistake before although now that everyone is aware of it, it's something we've been able to avoid.

messy setup and weak support

Pros

Getting started was fast and the phone and desktop apps were definitely useful especially with the notifications. That said there wasn't any real support so once mistakes happened during project setup, it became very difficult to reorganize everything and begin again.

Cons

For something that should handle simple task management, it felt far too complicated. It eventually turned into a complete mess that we couldn't fix and the support team wasn't helpful at all so we ended up canceling and stopping use altogether.

helpful meeting agendas and priorities

Pros

Our team relies on this during meetings and it has worked really well as a collaboration tool. Everyone adds the topics they want to cover ahead of time which helps us walk in with a clear agenda and better priorities. I don't really use it for full project tracking since I stick to the basic features but for what I need such as simple organization and reminders it has been very useful.

Cons

The reminder emails can pile up a bit too much. There may be another way to handle notifications but once the messages start coming in heavily, it can feel a little overwhelming.

clean design and effortless project management

Pros

It is very user friendly and the interface has a modern look. It made handling several projects at once really simple without forcing me to dig through a bunch of different categories or extra clicks.

Cons

The one thing it was missing for us was project time tracking. We ended up moving to another project management tool that included that feature and honestly I was disappointed to leave it because I really enjoyed using it.

helpful team task coordination

Pros

Having the whole team together in one group worked well for us. My boss could assign tasks to each employee and everyone could clearly see what they were responsible for completing during the week.

Cons

At the same time it felt a bit too informal and sometimes seemed like my boss used it in a passive-aggressive way to hand out work. I also didn't enjoy having to keep checking the app every week for assignments when a simple email could have communicated the same tasks more directly.

handy task tracking and alerts

Pros

Asana worked really well for our Network Team when it came to keeping up with daily tasks and deadlines. We could set up separate sections for each project or task, assign them to specific users and add due dates without any hassle. The paid version opens up project planning and plenty of additional useful features but the free version was already enough for us to stay organized, manage our workload and get reminders through the app or email. It also offers a lot of integrations with other tools which made task planning even more convenient.

Cons

One issue we ran into was that push notifications on the mobile app were not always reliable and the free version had a fairly limited feature set.
