simple workflow that works

Pros

Using it is not a hassle which matters a lot because plenty of project management tools are frustrating just to navigate in the first place. We really appreciate how simple it is to use.

Cons

I feel like the interface could look a bit nicer and feel less crowded overall.

helpful project visibility

Pros

A big plus is being able to quickly check what I need to get done today and later in the week, while also seeing what my teammates are working on. Overall it gives a really useful overview of where projects stand.

Cons

There are a few frustrating bugs and the interface could be more user friendly than it is now.

teamwork from anywhere

Pros

Working together in it is very hassle free even when the team is in different places. It makes collaboration simple and keeps everyone connected while working remotely.

Cons

At times certain actions do not respond on the first try so I end up clicking a few times before they work properly.

fantastic for team organization

Pros

It is a simple tool and there are plenty of tutorials and guides available when you need help. It keeps our company really organized and makes communication much more effective than relying on email. I can also stay connected and work with coworkers all over the world without any trouble.

Cons

It comes with a lot of features and settings so it can take some time to learn everything it offers. That said the basics are very simple to pick up and use.

all project details together

Pros

Keeping project communication organized is really simple with Asana. Conversations, attachments, status updates and approvals can all stay in one place which makes collaboration much more convenient.

Cons

One thing that could be better is the calendar widget especially when creating several new tasks at the same time.

team tasks made simple

Pros

Keeping track of work is really easy with this software especially when everyone is handling different responsibilities. It makes it simple to add people to a task or assign tasks to others for their daily work.

The Slack integration is a little inconsistent at times.

organized teamwork and file sharing

Pros

During a project I used it for about nine months and I really liked how it kept everything separate from my other work projects. The notifications and sign-in process were simple and it was convenient to share files and pictures with the group. Task organization also worked really well and helped keep everyone on track.

Cons

One downside was having to sign in to a completely separate app and I wasn't able to sync it.

task tracking that delivers

Pros

Keeping up with tasks and firm deadlines is much simpler with Asana. I can also create tasks, assign them to teammates and add notes so everyone has the context they need.

Cons

One thing to watch out for is the notification setup as if you don't disable it, every task update and mention gets sent straight to your email inbox.

helpful task alerts and free access

Pros

One thing that really helps is that it comes with a free version which makes it accessible without any upfront cost. It also sends email notifications to anyone tagged in a task so people stay updated and nothing gets missed.

Cons

As someone using a Windows machine with lower performance, I'd really appreciate having a dedicated Windows app like Toggl has. It would also be even better if a built-in time tracker were included.

versatile templates for projects

Pros

As a project management platform it works really well and the template options are genuinely useful since they offer good layouts based on the type of project you're running.

Cons

It wasn't the best fit for agile or engineering-focused teams though. Keeping track of bugs was difficult and setting up sub-projects inside a larger project felt limiting which is ultimately why we moved back to Jira.

organized and productive with asana

Pros

Running everything on my own would be a mess without Asana keeping me organized. Being able to see tasks on a calendar and sync them with iCal or Google Calendar helps a lot. I can set up separate projects, break work into subtasks and even use Kanban boards when that fits better. Even though I'm not managing a team, it clearly has plenty of tools for assigning and tracking tasks across multiple people. I check my tasks in Asana several times a day and it really helps me stay focused and get more done than I expected. Recurring tasks are also a huge help and with color coded projects plus due dates, everything stays nicely structured. The fact that it's free makes it even better.

Cons

One thing I'd really change is the project setup for views. If you choose list view or Kanban view At the beginning you're locked into that choice instead of being able to switch back and forth. Since I use it solo, I also wish tasks would automatically be assigned to me because right now I have to do that manually every time. If I forget, the task won't appear in My Tasks which means I have to double-check often so nothing gets missed. Another annoyance is that completed tasks don't disappear from my inbox automatically so every few days I end up manually archiving everything to clear it out.

Powerful task tracking tool

Pros

One of the strongest parts of this software is how well it lets you build out project tasks. You can assign specific tasks to individual users and add due dates to keep everything on track. Each task also works well as a central place for tags, comments and file attachments. On top of that it makes it simple to archive past projects and go back to review them later.

Cons

The feature I struggle with most is the way alerts and tagging are managed. As far as my team and I can tell, we either get notified about absolutely everything or nothing at all. I've spent time trying to adjust the notification settings but I still haven't had much success. If someone adds you to a project, you start getting alerts even for tasks that aren't assigned to you and that makes your email volume climb really fast.

handy email to task feature

Pros

One feature I keep coming back to is being able to send tasks to myself straight from Gmail or Outlook. That's probably my favorite part of using Asana.

Cons

I still haven't been able to work out how to create sections in the free version of the software. To be fair, I haven't reached out for help on it yet.

fantastic for client collaboration

Pros

It all began when a client added me to her team board and since then I've ended up using it with many other clients as well. It's a really useful way to keep assignments and tasks organized while staying connected with virtual teams. Everyone can clearly see who is working on what and exactly where things stand in the process.

Cons

there's not much to complain about. It's simple to pick up, works the way it's supposed to and even includes some fun customization options like changing colors and similar details.

Pros

Asana solves those use cases best and provides a lot of flexibility at a very reasonable cost. It has very nice features and the customer support is great.

Sometimes I wish tasks could be tracked in a more storyboard format.
