Pros

Basecamp keeps projects, conversations, tasks and files neatly organized in one place which makes day to day work much easier. The layout is clean and user friendly so new team members can jump in without needing much training. The message boards, to-do lists and automatic check-ins are especially useful because they cut down on unnecessary meetings and constant email back and forth. Sharing files and communicating with the team is also very easy which makes collaboration feel much more efficient.

Cons

It does a really good job with simplicity but it does miss some of the more advanced tools you get with other project management platforms. Reporting, workflow automation and customization can feel a bit limited especially for bigger or more complicated projects. Also it doesn't offer advanced resource management or detailed project tracking so it may not be the best fit for organizations that need more sophisticated project management features.

Having projects, tasks, discussions and files all in one place has been really helpful. It makes working with a team much easier and cuts down on the back and forth of chasing updates across different platforms.

Cons

When multiple projects and discussions are active at once, it can start to feel a bit overwhelming. Tracking down older information also sometimes takes longer than I'd expect.

Pros

The interface is really pleasant to look at and it makes it simple to tell who's working on each project and which boards are connected to it. The homepage gives a decent snapshot of everything in one place including recent activity across your projects, the project list itself and a handy quick-add area for folders, new projects and more.

Cons

It works well when you mainly need a shared space for collaboration and task assignment but it does have some limitations with subtasks. You can add subtasks to an item but you cannot go a level deeper with sub-subtasks. That sounds minor yet there are plenty of situations where that extra layer would be really useful. It's also a little tricky to get to your items since they aren't visible right from the homepage with everything else so you have to go into another page and use filters to find them.

Pros

Ever since we started using it, the usual excuses about not getting an email or text about an assignment have pretty much disappeared. It keeps all the conversations and documentation for each project in one central place which makes a big difference. You can assign a task to a team member, set a deadline and everyone else on the team can immediately see where things stand. It has really cut down on all the back and forth questions and we no longer have to jump between several different apps just to finish one task.

Cons

Working in it can be frustrating when you're handling a lot of projects at the same time because the interface feels slow and not very appealing. It's also disappointing that the dashboard cannot be customized and that there aren't more advanced filtering options. It works well for smaller, simpler tasks but if you need to do anything more complex with your data, it just doesn't hold up. My boss also occasionally complains about the way their pricing model changes. On top of that the search function is a headache especially when trying to track down an old PDF from months ago.

Pros

At our company, it handles our larger projects, day to day task tracking and document storage all in one place. It comes with plenty of useful features and the platform is very simple to work with. We also haven't run into bugs or technical problems when using it.

Cons

Nothing really stands out as a downside. The software has been consistently reliable and I cannot think of any time we've had trouble with it.

Compared with the previous version, this release fixes a lot of the issues that used to be a constant headache. Task tracking does work and you can create lists and manage things properly even if the app still crashes completely at times and notifications only show up after a brief freeze. It's at least a noticeable improvement especially since the older version would log you out after just five minutes so the overall flow feels much better now when that doesn't happen.

The price is a bit steep for the amount of functionality you actually get. On top of that moving documents around is more awkward than it should be because the upload option is buried in another menu layer under two unrelated choices.

Managing projects across a large remote team became much more organized with it and it really helped us stay on top of our work. The platform was easy to use, file sharing was hassle-free and it felt like very good value for the price.

One thing I ran into was getting a lot of notifications sometimes even after projects had already wrapped up although that may have been more about me not setting it up or using it properly.

Time tracking has been working well for me as long as I remember to click start and that is honestly a big reason why I keep using Basecamp. We were also able to add outside clients into our workspace without the dashboard crashing which was a nice surprise. I really expected most of the integrations to fall apart but connecting Outlook actually worked and we were able to pull in all of our emails.

Cons

The thing that gets annoying is how many emails it sends about new features nobody seems to have asked for and they end up cluttering my inbox. On top of that if you need even one basic report, it costs an extra $30 per month for each person. There are also just too many clicks to get things done.

It has been really useful for keeping invoicing simple and file sharing organized. The invoicing setup is clear and structured which makes it much easier to stay on top of payments. I also like having project files kept in one central place so the team can get what they need quickly without digging through old emails.

One downside is that the file storage comes with limits and the search feature can be a bit slow when trying to find older files in larger projects.

Honestly nothing significant comes to mind. There was a bit of a learning curve at first but I have settled into it and use it comfortably now.

Before getting started, I wanted to be sure Basecamp wouldn't be a frustrating program to work with and it turned out to be nothing like that. It fit really well with what I needed during my internship especially since I had been in a studio environment for years. More than anything, it helped keep everyone on the same page and brought our whole team together.

The only issue I noticed was with how efficiently it worked between PCs and Macs although that may have been more related to my specific setup than to the app itself.

One part of it that can be a little confusing is organizing the title and summary sections, along with figuring out where subtasks belong and how they should fit into the bigger picture.

This tool makes it much easier to see what everyone else is working on instead of digging through my inbox for updates that may or may not be there which is the last thing I want to deal with on a Monday morning. Our setup never caused any crashing issues. I am also happy that we could keep approved files together in one place. I expected the Creative Cloud integration to overwhelm our computer but it actually handled it pretty well.

Trying to locate anything from an older project is nearly impossible unless you happen to remember the odd ID number tied to the item because the search tool basically stops being useful once you start typing. There are also far too many buttons in the software. My teammates still complain that it took weeks just to learn the basics of it and every time it updates, I get another pointless email saying nothing new.

Pros

One thing that really works well with this software is how clearly it shows the information we need right on the site. We've used other tools before and looking back, they just weren't nearly as effective when it came to managing a work timeline.

My only frustration is that notifications are still hard to notice once they're accidentally dismissed and I also wish the system included a better log.
