It works really well for collaboration, both within our team and when we're working with outside vendors. It's useful for managing projects, assigning tasks to different people in the group and keeping everything organized. The built-in back and forth chat on tasks and projects makes communication simple and it's convenient to loop in other people when needed.

Cons

One downside is the repeated notification emails. When a project gets updated and a task is assigned at the same time the email alerts can feel a bit excessive.

Keeping projects organized is where it really shines. It makes teamwork simpler and brings all communication into one place in a very efficient way.

Customization options are fairly limited, it misses some advanced functionality and it can end up feeling too basic for more complex projects.

This tool seems like its own product rather than a reworked version of something else and that's one thing I have consistently liked in a positive way.

These days, most advanced project management tools include built-in time tracking so that was something we had to weigh while comparing options. In the end, we still chose it but I do think time tracking would be a valuable addition if we end up needing that feature later on.

Setting up separate projects was fairly easy which made getting started pretty quick. It was also really helpful having all the to-dos gathered in one place so you can keep track of everything happening across different projects.

Once projects became more complex though it didn't hold up as well. A lot of our work stretches across multiple years and involves several teams and it just didn't have the structure we needed to manage that kind of complexity effectively.

Working together on projects feels really well organized here and I love how clearly it keeps tabs on progress along the way. Another big plus is the notification setup as it doesn't flood my inbox all day and instead sends one morning email which I really like.

There honestly isn't much that bothers me about it. The only thing that can be confusing is when consultants are working out of their own tool instead of ours and I sometimes end up in the wrong account.

Its biggest advantage for me was how clear and uncomplicated everything is. It helps teams stay organized without piling on unnecessary complexity. A few things stood out in particular such as the interface is clean and user friendly so even brand-new users can find their way around quickly. Because everything is presented so clearly, there's less confusion and the onboarding process takes much less time. I also like its focused take on project management. Rather than loading the platform with endless options, Basecamp centers on the essentials like to-do lists, message boards, schedules and file sharing which keeps the team's attention on getting work done. The communication setup is another strong point. Having message boards and comment threads in one place reduces scattered email chains and makes it much easier to keep track of discussions over time. It also creates strong visibility and accountability since everyone can see what's happening, who owns each task and what's coming up next. On top of that it doesn't require much setup or ongoing maintenance so projects can be launched and managed quickly without a lot of configuration. Overall it shines by cutting down on noise and complication which makes it especially useful for teams that want direct communication and hassle free project tracking instead of heavy customization or complex workflows.

That same simplicity is also where it is somewhat restrictive especially for teams handling more complex or fast-paced work. A few limitations became clear such as the platform deliberately leaves out more advanced capabilities such as custom workflows, detailed task dependencies and in-depth reporting which can make it feel too basic for larger or more structured projects. It's also not the best fit for complex project tracking since there's no built-in support for things like Gantt charts, workload planning or time tracking, all of which some teams depend on for deadline management and visibility. The overall structure is fairly flat as well and because every project follows essentially the same setup, it can be difficult to tailor the system to different project styles or internal processes. Automation and integrations are also lighter than what many competing project management tools offer so there can be more manual follow-up involved. As project volume and conversations increase, scaling can become more challenging because it gets harder to quickly identify priorities or manage everything efficiently. In the end, this seems less like a flaw and more like a deliberate trade-off as it chooses simplicity over flexibility. That works very well for collaboration but it may feel limiting for teams that need deeper structure, more customization or advanced tracking tools.

This has been really user friendly for our team and it keeps everything organized while helping us work efficiently. I haven't run into any bugs or issues at all. Sharing files through the message boards and groups is also very convenient.

Honestly I cannot think of anything I dislike. I use it every day at work and haven't had anything negative to point out.

I like that it keeps everything incredibly well organized and that has made a huge difference in how I work. Well I really don't have anything negative to say about this software. It runs very well overall. If I had to suggest one thing, it would be adding more introductory videos for people who are completely new to using it.

After upgrading to the newest version of it, we've been absolutely loving it. It's completely elevated the way we manage and track our daily tasks and the update makes it much better by letting us add links and keep everything organized more clearly.

It keeps collaboration on work projects really hassle free and helps our team stay on top of progress across deliverables. Since we work in a hybrid setup with some people fully remote, it lets everyone contribute to projects from different locations without things getting disrupted. Another big advantage is the ability to store large media files which is especially useful in marketing when we regularly deal with assets that are too big to send through email or other platforms.

My only ongoing complaint is that its mobile app can still feel a bit wonky from time to time and it could definitely benefit from some interface and overall user-experience improvements to make it more convenient when you're away from a computer. The web version works perfectly well but the mobile app still has a few issues that stand out.

This has been a really helpful tool for keeping documents current and simple to pull up whenever needed. It also does a good job of keeping clients, vendors and designers organized all in one place.

Since clients have access too, it can sometimes become overwhelming trying to keep up with all their messages. At times they end up using it more like a chat room than a project tool.

Back at a previous company, this worked well for our marketing team when we needed a place to collaborate and send around large files that were too big for email.

Compared with Teams, Slack, Google and similar tools, it felt harder to use. It also didn't seem especially strong for much beyond sharing large files within the team.

Between a cramped desk and a cold cup of coffee, it still keeps our sprint work from turning into a mess. I was honestly surprised by how well the AI cleaned up and formatted my notes especially compared with other tools that usually make them more confusing. We run all of our frontend and QA ticketing through Basecamp and it is reassuring that those items do not just disappear. The extra board and calendar views are there too which is a decent bonus.

Cons

One thing that gets irritating is that it can feel like there is too much focus on adding features and then I end up losing track of where things actually live especially the CRM area. The biggest annoyance is still that I cannot turn on my camera while creating a video clip for the team which really makes no sense.
