Very good for time and expense tracking

Pros

We use Core mostly for time and expense tracking. It does this very well, is easy to use and is straightforward. The customer support is very responsive if you ever have any questions.

Cons

A lot of good project tracking and management tools, but some are hard to find and figure out how to use. Takes some digging sometimes to get the information I am looking for.

Core is the core of our business

Pros

BQE makes it easy to understand what you are getting from the software with their pre-sales info, there is an awesome setup and installation help, help videos, and training available. The support team is excellent and responsive. Project management, time tracking, and billing are our favorite features, we couldnt run our business without them. Core integrates really well with how we set up and manage an architectural project. Reports and Statistics on the dashboards are key to our business operation supporting all of our major business processes such as billing, accounting, HR management, CRM, and supporting all of our management reporting needs.

Cons

Resource Allocation and planning are critical in our business in order to plan capacity and make sure we are managing our human resources effectively. The Allocation and Gantt chart functionality need improvement. We currently export the project data from Core into Excel to get a company-wide Gantt chart. The lack of dependencies between phases in projects means we have to alter dates in phases manually which is frustrating.

Pros

The software and website work consistently and the customer service is very responsive. We have been using them for a few years now with very few issues.

Cons

Searching could be streamlined and the apps/filters could also be streamlined so they are not hard to find or figure out.

No longer needs a dedicated on-site server and Windows management (were a Mac-based practice)Cloud-based with greatly improved GUI and UX

Working with BQE Core

Pros

As a long-time bookkeeper and accountant, I do think Core is a great program for engineering and architectural firms that use time entries to bill and track projects.

Cons

Sometimes there are server issues and the program isnt available but I trust the good team at BQE to improve and resolve those issues.

BQE CORE for Structural Engineering, RECOMMEND

Pros

Everything from time & expense entry to CRM, inputting your data into one place to use across multiple modules make CORE very efficient and easy to use. Platform is web based and can be accessed from any computer, and even has a mobile app, to make quick updates even quicker. Customer support is available 24/7 7 days a week, and the support staff is knowledgeable and resolves issues quickly.

Cons

cost can be an issue. cost is determined by No of subscriptions you need for each module and for how many staffers, so can add up.

Quantity over Quality

Pros

Its not Quickbooks. It has a ton of tools and great reporting analytics.

Cons

User experience could use work. When wanting to attach an invoice PDF to a vendor bill, I have to Save, making the "Save and Add Another" disappear thus making that function useless. It should stay so I dont have to go back to the AP main page and start a new blank page. I also wish we could set an item account for project expenses like we can with non-project expenses, so we dont have to have another tab open to see what item account we use for a specific vendor.

Pros

Our company had been using BillQuick for over 10 years when we decided to switch to BQE Core. It was perfect timing as our sales increased increasing our invoices by 25%. BQE Core has made us a more efficient organization.

Great tool

Using the BQE CORE daily and its very user friendly tool to manage the time, projects and activities. The memo feature is really great for tracking the task with the time sheet. Very easy to use.

Pros

BQE Core has given us the visibility into our projects we needed. You can start out small and then add modules as needed such as Accounting, CRM, and HR.

Cons

There is a learning curve so you need patience - my advice is to reach out to the support team for any questions you have. I wish the draft invoices were a little more flexible, and I am not a fan of the write/up write/down feature and you cannot disable it.

Must Have Tool for Business

Pros

BQE Core is an amazing business software that allows for greater insight into an organizations accounting and invoicing management. By incorporating a visually pleasing and simple to use overview with intuitive operational tools, BQE Core maximizes productivity and profitability. Overall a must have platform for any business.

Cons

Although the software now seems intuitive for our business use, an initial training session was required in order to fully understand how to properly use BQE Cores numerous tools and systems. However, this is not uncommon for business software and the complimentary training was very comprehensive.
