“Confluence the knowledge management and collaboration tool”
Pros
Over a span of roughly 5 years my experience with Confluence has spanned from its onpremises platform to the cloud version. Its standout feature remains its capacity to centralize information and foster collaboration among both team members and stakeholders. This results in effortless information access and sharing simplified document creation and editing and automatic facilitation of communication through task assignments comments and most notably notifications regarding collaborative changes. With robust version control management users or project teams can confidently oversee changes and revisions while preserving document integrity.
Cons
Throughout my extensive use of Confluence I've developed a keen eye for potential feature improvements particularly for those new to the platform. The user interface can initially seem overwhelming making document navigation a bit challenging. New users can find helpful tutorials on platforms like YouTube. Confluence accommodates a variety of thirdparty plugins and macros but some may require prior experience with those applications as Confluence lacks indepth guidance on their usage. Occasional lag and extended loading times have posed occasional hindrances at times requiring browser refreshes or leading to unintended exits from documents which can disrupt productivity. My experiences have revealed that enabling single signon may result in occasional high loading times.

“Great information store if your are already invested into the Atlassian ecosystem”
Pros
As a software developer I value Confluence's minimalist approach to formatting options. Its limited selection of heading styles and font choices proves sufficient for wellorganized documents allowing me to focus on content. The support for plugins especially Miro and Draw.io becomes a lifesaver when working with diagrams.
Cons
The search function often falls short based on my experiences. It struggles when I lack knowledge of the internal codenames for features or services relying solely on vague descriptions. Keyword searches tend to yield a plethora of irrelevant results prompting me to bookmark numerous pages for future reference.

“Confluence ContentKnowledge base or also a document management system”
Pros
Confluence's strength lies in its capacity to simplify the documentation of diverse softwarerelated information rendering it a robust tool for the teams it caters to. Moreover it offers userfriendly templates for various purposes making integration with the main product Jira a powerful combination for software development and comprehensive documentation.
Cons
For a seamless Confluence experience it's advisable to pair it with Jira as a project management tool. Effective documentation often relies on additional plugins both free and paid to streamline tasks. Integrating with office suites like Google Workspace can present challenges.
