From Costpoint 3.1 to 7.1.1

Pros

I love the ease of use and the ability to copy into Excel. It's much easier now than in the old Costpoint versions.

Cons

I am frustrated with Change Management and having to clear the cache all the time.

Long time customer

Pros

What i most like about this software is their customer support and responsiveness, as well as the ease of use.

Cons

Nothing specific comes to mind. I've been using Costpoint and T&E for 20 years, and improvements have been made over time. It's a good product.

It is easy to run MRP once everything is set up.

Cons

The user interface seems outdated to me. Friendlier screens and dual monitor support would be appreciated.

System

Pros

It's very easy to use and learn and it is a robust system from the beginning of a project all the way to the end.

Cons

I find that flexibility sometimes is not your best asset. If I set up a project wrong, I have to live with it until it ends.

NOT for an ETO Company

Pros

I have nothing positive to say about this software. It benefits the smallest group in our company.

Cons

I am frustrated with the lack of out-of-the-box automation of the ECN process. There is no PN versioning, and every revision gets a new ID number. Copying from E BOM to M BOM has a high potential for errors. This has quadrupled data administration for my engineering group. I expect to be pulling requisitions for new employees that are engineers, not data administrators.

A simple concept is complicated and user time is wasted with Deltek

Pros

It doesn't crash or freeze up, and I have to give credit for their proper server connections and implementations. It does not crash during use, although logins sometimes get delayed due to some cookie issues.

Cons

Where do I start? There is no clear user interface setup method. It has a bunch of poorly worded menus and unnecessary "Query" buttons. For most users, the goal is to select a charge code, pick the day of the week, add the hours, and save. At the end of the week, they sign the sheet. Simple, right? But not with Deltek. It makes the whole process of finding the "timesheet" and adding a line to it convoluted. The process is not complicated but a simple task is turned into a random goose chase through multiple menus, clicks, searches, and selections. Picking a project code involves clicking on random icons, searching through layered menus, and figuring out what to add. The user interface is not intuitive.

Very detailed system

Pros

Deltek Costpoint can break down to run any report, which is great for analyzing on all levels.

Cons

I find it not user-intuitive. The system takes a long time for me to learn and is difficult to navigate.

Pros

I didn't have to change my password when we transitioned to it.

Fair Weather Application

Pros

They are a government-approved system, which is a requirement for companies in the defense and contracting industry.

Cons

The platform is not intuitive nor user-friendly, and I find it hard to get customer support without being charged extra. It's not open source.

Gets the job done, if you can sit through enough training

Pros

It allows me to track my hours in very detailed ways.

Cons

User experience design is something this company has never heard of. This might be some of the least intuitive software I have ever used. If I am going for user-friendly design (or something that looks like it was built this century), I should not stop here.

Deltek is a reasonable timetracking tool

Pros

It does what it needs to do. It is pretty simple for me to use and get set up, and it allows me to track what needs tracking.

Cons

All time tracking is harder than I would like. Deltek often needs work to be configured to be as helpful as I wish it could be.

Deltek

Pros

Deltek Costpoint is a great software tool for me to manage parts, inventory, finances, and cost reports. It is very easy to use if I'm aware that the first priority of Costpoint is as a financial tool.

Cons

There is a dedicated support team, but for an enterprise solution, there are not many options for individual sites.

Employees won't love it

Pros

There is not much I like about this software. It does let me save time codes to favorites, but that is the bare minimum and does not do much more to make my work of entering a daily time card easy.

Cons

The loading times seem slower than other software I have used, and the features to populate saved time codes are not as good. Requesting time off is especially burdensome and requires several steps where it should really only have one.
