“Use costpoint for timesheet
Pros
I really like how I can format my timesheet daily by project on Costpoint. It allows me to stay organized with what I am working on and I can keep track of my available leave.
Cons
I would not say that I have any cons about Costpoint, but if it came in a mobile version, that would be really helpful.

“Easy to use once you get the hang of it
Pros
As a user, my only involvement with Deltek is entering my hours daily after work. It took some fiddling around, but once I got the hang of it, it was pretty straightforward to log my data. The tool allows me to see how much holiday or PTO balance I have, as well as allowing me to access my paystub. These were things that my company previously had as separate systems, so it's nice that they are all together now.
Cons
It was hard to familiarize myself with the tool at first as it seems all the basic functions for simply entering my time data are hidden under various levels of menus. I do not know if its merely because of the way my company configured the tool, but I have not figured out how to print things, especially my paystub. There is no option that I am aware of for looking at my PTO history.

“An Accurate Way to Track Time
Pros
It is pretty intuitive and is a good way for me to capture my time at work. I like the breakdown of multiple charge codes and projects and the easy search features.

Sometimes I have a hard time signing into the software remotely.

“The Payroll GuRu
Pros
I used this at my previous company and it was great for payroll management and the cloud platform. It talks to other applications and gives great analytics.
Cons
I used this as a web-based platform, and it really comes in a pinch when the internet goes down. I would have liked my old company to purchase the desktop version so we could work in the program offline.

“Easy-to-use but doesn't work for every situation
Pros
I use Costpoint daily at my job and the software is very easy for me to navigate. I have no issues searching for BOMs (Bill of Materials), and Costpoint interacts relatively seamlessly with the systems we use for engineering drawings and shop floor instructions.
Cons
A lot of the materials in the BOMs seem to be controlled by effectivity dates. This may work well for companies that have interchangeable parts with planned obsolescence dates, but the industry I work in has variable production schedules where it would be preferable to control materials by engineering drawing effectivity.

“It is great for Large organizations
Pros
I like its features on login when used in a mobile browsing window.
Cons
The help section, while very robust, was a bit difficult to understand. I did a lot of trial and error before eventually figuring it out.

“Great functionality but very expensive
Pros
It allows me to conduct various tasks efficiently and fast. It is also easy for me to record and track my work time. It offers quick and timely updates to users.
Cons
It is very expensive. It also takes a lot of time to complete a simple task because of the many steps involved. Some of these steps seem like duplicate actions.

“Too many clicks just to report my time
Pros
Absolutely super! Did I mention that there is nothing good about this software?
Cons
There are too many non-intuitive and small button clicks to report time. I find it difficult to set up a timecard, which is even less intuitive.

“COSTPOINT IS LAZY AND STUPID
Pros
There really is not much that I like about Costpoint except that it is an online database that I can access from the internet instead of being hosted on a company server. However, this also limits it as well, so I remain neutral on anything positive. Over several years of working with it, my hatred of the software has grown to the point of not seeing anything really good about it. It completes tasks sometimes, which is unacceptable. It should complete them all the time.
Cons
I cannot work fast and have to save often because the program gets confused if I do too much at one time. It creates extra workload due to the time it takes to undo the problems it created. The program seems to be lazy and does tasks intermittently. When I click the save button, it is like a gamble as to whether or not it will carry out the task. It assigns key tracking numbers to multiple people at the same time without the users knowing, and they have to back out all their data.

“Deltek Costpoint Review
Pros
It is a pretty simple-to-use software for HRIS data and has a lot of fields for me to enter. It is great that there is a reporting system to allow for standard and custom reports. There is an immediate entry into the system once changes are made, so it is great to get an immediate response.
Cons
There are several cons with the system. First, it has not been updated over several years, and no upgrades have been made to keep up with the times. It feels like the system is dated back to the 1980s. There is no predictive search for employees, there are too many windows for different types of employee data, so it is hard to find certain employee data. The reporting is also hard to create custom reports as I have to understand extensive knowledge of Cognos, making it hard to search fields for employee data, and it is clunky. There are no workflows or business rules that can be set up to allow for notifications for certain events regarding employee self-service.

“Deltek Review
Pros
The system has a pretty easy interface for me to enter basic information such as personal information, checking, tax information, and updating benefits. Once set up, the ESS system is pretty great for me as an employee because I can choose benefits through open enrollment, update tax information, and update my address information. The reporting is simple for standard reports and can be easily pulled in Excel format, allowing me to manipulate the spreadsheets.
Cons
The software is very outdated and has not been updated in several years. The custom reporting is very clunky and hard to create because there are many files to look into and no intelligent search functions. I can only pull the reports in Excel format, so there are no other options such as CSV and PDF.

“Horrid Piece of Software from the 1990s
Pros
Once I learned how to enter my hours, it's not too bad. Trying to request vacation time, on the other hand, is horrible.
Cons
The interface looks like a hastily assembled college project made with Access. The leave section looks like they actually tried to make it as unintuitive as they could. The theory in our office is that its a feature that discourages employees from requesting time off. I almost cannot put into words how backward this software is.

“Completely functional product.
Pros
This software was easy for me to use, I had no issues with it. It provides exactly what it should and functions with no errors.
Cons
It could use some more functions to increase its value. It is more of a supplementary program than a primary one.

“Simple software everyone understands
Pros
I always like how easy it is to use. I create favorites so I don't even have to search for the right codes , they are just right there and the web pages load very quickly on our awful work computers!
Cons
Depending on how my company set it up, it can be confusing to find my codes initially, but all they have to do is give them to me, and then its super easy.

“Using Deltek Costpoint
Pros
It is easy for me as an end user. It is very useful for finance and cost reporting. I can manage inventory, receiving, orders, and configuration.
Cons
I need the ability to link to other software for downstream functionality, such as MES or ERP systems.

“Screens
Pros
As a tool for setting up and keeping track of projects, it is ideal for me and the system is user-friendly.
Cons
There are far too many screens to set up one project. It takes time to navigate between the various screens.

“Expensive and requires extensive support
Pros
It has good functionality but not great. It is somewhat adaptable to our company. Overall, it is not bad as a whole ERP system.
Cons
It requires a great deal of constant support and is not user-intuitive. It requires an extensive and expensive rollout to get online.

“Using Deltek is by far the Worst Part of my Day
Pros
It is nice to talk to someone out of my department once in a while. Since the product is not usable, I get a lot of help from our accounting department.
Cons
I cannot think of a product more. Frankenstein than this... its a collection of fragmented features. It has terrible usability, poor design, and implementation, including: 1. Tracking hours is overly complex 2. Help is lacking or outdated 3. Interface/workflow design is terrible.

“Wow!
Pros
I am still looking. Give me more time, I am sure it is there somewhere. My accounting department sold this to the company as an upgrade.
Cons
My firm used to use Time & Expense for timekeeping and Concur for expenses; great user experience there. Then we switched to Costpoint 60 days ago. It reminds me of a slapped-together MS Access database. The interface is awful, just awful. Why did not Deltek just keep the Time/Expense user interface? Deltek Time/Expense had mobile options; I have yet to find that for Costpoint. As a manager, approving sheets is no picnic either, and heaven forbid I want to look at an employee across two pay periods (with Deltek Expense, you clicked an arrow; with Costpoint, you double or triple your clicks for the same task). And then theres the Expense module in Costpoint, oh my. I have no idea what I am looking at sometimes. I have to download the attachments to view them instead of opening them inline for quick reference (clunky). There does not seem to be any sort of natural workflow for the expense reports. There are a bunch of links and buttons that I do not need. And why not just have an approval button for managers? All I have ever found is a perform selected task button. Not intuitive at all from a company that aims at setting the pace. Or maybe my firm botched the rollout?

“Incredibly inefficient system
Pros
The system is heavily integrated and offers many features suitable for government contractors. As a company that relies heavily on projects and reporting, I find the system very suitable for our requirements.
Cons
The amount of keystroking I need to complete a simple task is staggering. It takes me hours to finish a task that should only take minutes because of the numerous separate steps required. It's like I'm working with 1970s technology. The system does not allow even minimal customization, like menu fonts or setups.
