reliable code hosting and version control

Pros

I use this software to host my codebase and it gives me amazing version control for everything I'm working on. That has made application development much more manageable and convenient for me.

Cons

This is user-friendly but it still offers fewer features than some of its competitors. It really needs to improve in a few areas if it wants to remain competitive in the market.

covers everything I need

Pros

Having source code management with a diff feature, a web editor, DevOps support and onboard testing tools all in one place is really valuable. It covers the key features I need and makes development work much more convenient.

Cons

One thing that would make it even better is having more flexible options for sharing users from one group to another with read-only access.

pleasant teamwork experience

Pros

Reviewing merge requests is very pleasant, pipeline setup is easy and the collaborative workflow that comes with using the tool is really effective.

Cons

Code diffs in merge requests can sometimes be quite tedious to read and understand and the web app has fairly recurring stability issues.

Boosted collaborations

Pros

Working with it has been really good for our team because the collaboration features make it simple to coordinate work together. It's secure, flexible and setting up the CI/CD pipelines was very simple. Moving over from GitHub didn't take much time and it noticeably improved our productivity. I'd definitely recommend it especially for companies that prefer on-premise deployment.

Cons

The only downside at this point is that the Ultimate plan feels a bit expensive. Other than that I really haven't run into any major problems yet. Overall it has been a very efficient product.

top-tier product!

Pros

The tool has been an excellent tool for handling projects and source code. Since the developers work on this platform every day as well, it makes collaboration between project managers and developers feel much more connected and efficient.

Cons

Non-technical users may find it difficult to learn it so getting comfortable with it can take some time. The website also feels slow occasionally.

clear project tracking

Pros

It gives a clear view of how a project is progressing especially when different people are working on the same topic in parallel. It's also very useful for managing version upgrades and keeping an eye on potential bugs.

Cons

You really need to get users on board to make sure everything runs properly overall and to avoid slowing down the work.

complete Dev lifecycle in one place

Pros

Full coverage of development cycle is provided by this tool from project planning to continuous integration which makes it much easier for me to manage everything with a more complete, all-in-one approach. On top of that, the built-in CI/CD integration simplifies test automation and deployment, helping create more efficient development pipelines.

Cons

For smaller teams or simpler projects it's resource usage can feel a bit heavy compared with lighter alternatives.

perfect for teamwork

Pros

It really helps teams work better together especially with features like merge requests and issue boards. It also takes security seriously, with tools such as role-based access control that add a lot of value. Another big plus is how customizable the workflows and issue boards are within the platform. The CI/CD pipelines are one of its strongest parts and being able to set up and manage them directly inside the repository makes the whole development process much simpler.

Cons

Getting around the platform and fully understanding everything it can do can take some time especially for someone who is just starting out with the tool.

gets the job done

Pros

It does a good job of handling source code efficiently, whether it's in one repository or across multiple private and public repos. Where it really shines though, is pipeline management. The pipelines make it possible to set up detailed multi-stage builds and create deployment strategies that can adapt to a wide range of infrastructure environments.

Cons

Pipeline templates that can be included in our application pipelines can get updated over time and sometimes introduce breaking changes which means we have to put safeguards in place to keep our own pipelines from crashing because of dependencies tied to that part.

Customizable product

Pros

It's highly customizable and delivers an experience that feels very close to GitHub, with the added benefit of being able to host the service on your own server.

Cons

There really isn't much to complain about, aside from the fact that some updates used to break things and cause downtime for self-hosted repositories. That said this was a few years ago and it's improved a lot since then.

trusworthy source control

Pros

After moving away from our on-premise setup, the SaaS version has been really good for source control. Over the last 3 to 4 years, it has also become a much bigger part of our software development lifecycle especially as we've started relying more and more on the automated pipelines.

Cons

Every now and then, a few GUI functions act up, like auto-merge not going through. Usually though, a quick page refresh and another attempt gets it working again.

top tier software

Pros

Having everything in one place is a big advantage, with version control, issue tracking, continuous integration and other tools all built into the same platform. It does an excellent job with Git repository management making branching, merging and overall version control very efficient. The access control is also very strong, giving administrators excellent options to handle user roles, permissions and project visibility.

Cons

One downside is that it can be quite resource-heavy especially when used for larger projects or across bigger organizations. There is also a noticeable learning difficulty at the beginning when trying to understand the tools and technologies. On top of that, the UI/UX feels less appealing than it could be.

definitely recommended

Pros

It brings a lot to the table especially with features like code management, CI/CD pipelines and more. It delivers a really strong collaborative experience overall.

Cons

The part I appreciate the least about it is the interface ergonomics. It has improved over time but it still doesn't quite match the competition yet. It can also feel slow from time to time.

smooth code review workflow

Pros

Our developers are happy with it and labels can be adapted to handle task management up to a point. It also does a really good job supporting proper code reviews and team collaboration through merge requests.

Cons

Reporting features are fairly limited compared with other tools in the market. I'd recommend it mainly for development work rather than full task or project management. It's also not very simple to use for non-technical users and needs quite a bit of customization before it works well for sprints and similar planning.
