“Can be accessed from any device”
Pros
Being able to set up separate channels for different topics, groups and teams across the organization is probably the best part for me. The accessibility is another huge plus too. I can log in from just about any device and since I travel often, that flexibility really matters.
Cons
Some of the features do take a little time to learn if you are not very experienced with computers. The biggest hurdle for me was figuring out the alerts and notification settings inside the program. That said, I was able to understand everything within a few days so it really did not take very long.

“Far better than email”
Pros
Work communication feels much more smooth with it. One of the best parts is that every conversation stays organized in a thread with the specific person or group. It's definitely far better than email because everything is stored by individual chats, selected people, small groups or even the whole organization. We have a lot of channels, basically group spaces and some of them are just there for fun which makes it even better. Instead of dealing with another email or text message, you just get it right in Slack and that's hard to beat.
Cons
At times, the browser version makes message replies a little confusing to follow. I also wish there were a way to view everyone in our organization instead of only seeing the most recent conversations.

“Channels keep our lab connected”
Pros
Keeping in touch with colleagues is much better with this product especially for communication in our research lab. The channel setup works really well because we can create separate spaces with different people for each project we're working on. It makes organizing conversations and staying connected a lot more manageable.
Cons
The free version only keeps up to 10,000 messages and once that limit is reached, older messages get deleted. Even though 10,000 sounds like a lot at first, it really isn't when you use it regularly and that can lead to important messages being lost.

“Custom reminders”
Pros
It has been one of the best tools for staying in touch with team members and sharing documents through it is just as convenient. The option to set custom reminders for a team comes in really handy as well. It also lets us create and work with multiple teams based on what we need which makes collaboration much more organized. The search function is especially useful for pulling up older messages quickly and the mobile app is very user-friendly too.
Cons
There really isn't anything I dislike about it.

“Huge fan”
Pros
It does a fantastic job of keeping communication across our organization organized and simple to manage. We're able to create separate channels and private groups which makes team conversations much easier to keep track of. Sharing files, replying in threads and all the other collaboration features work really well too. The emojis make chats a lot more fun and being able to add custom ones is a nice touch. It also supports GIFs which keeps conversations lively. One of my favorite newer features is huddle, it's honestly the best. It's much quicker to jump into a conversation there instead of placing a regular call. On top of that, screen sharing and annotation make it really useful for team meetings and quick discussions. Status updates are also super helpful because teammates can immediately see whether someone is working, in a meeting or on a break. I also love being able to customize notifications the way I want. Overall, I'm a huge fan of it!
Cons
If there's one thing that could use some improvement, it would be placing calls since they can take a long time to connect. That's exactly why the huddle feature has been such a helpful addition. Aside from that, I think the software is excellent.

“Easy to stay up to date”
Pros
Keeping up with lots of different topics, teams and collaborations is really simple with it. It makes it easy to stay connected and up to date when working with people both locally and across the world which is something I deal with every day.
Cons
If someone isn't very comfortable with technology, it can probably feel a bit overwhelming at first because there's a lot happening at once. That said, it's also hard to miss important updates since the notifications and alerts do a good job of keeping everything visible.

“Simple to take notes”
Pros
This tool has been really useful for group conversations and calling and there are lots of helpful tips and tricks built into it. Attaching files is simple and I also appreciate being able to keep personal notes in it.
Cons
The most frustrating part is having to sign in again every morning. It sends me through a web browser to log in and that process does not always work properly. Some mornings I have ended up waiting anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour before the app finally signs me in through the browser.

“messaging is fast”
Pros
It has been really convenient for teamwork. The interface feels user-friendly and getting around the app is quick which makes it a solid option for staying in touch with the team. Messaging is fast and being able to chat with several people at once while keeping replies organized in threads makes conversations much more efficient. It also helps that audio and video calls are built in so it's quick to talk things through without jumping to another platform. On top of that, the ability to create both public and private channels is very useful for organizing different teams and projects across the company.
Cons
An issue I've run into is stability especially on Mac, where the app sometimes glitches and needs to be force-closed. The calling feature could also work better since the audio and video system isn't always reliable and there are times when you have to try calling a person or team more than once before everyone actually gets connected.

“Made life simpler”
Pros
The real value for us comes from Slack's integrations. Chat by itself is helpful but plenty of tools can handle basic messaging. What makes this one stand out in daily use is being able to pull in customer messages, form submissions from our platform, plus system notifications and infrastructure and security alerts, all into one place. It has made life much simpler compared with the old way of juggling countless emails and separate channels.
Cons
A few parts of the interface still trip me up. Even after using it for years, I still pause for a few seconds sometimes trying to work out which button to hit when I want to reply to a message. The threading setup could use improvement too because conversations can get buried pretty quickly. I really think whenever a new message is added, that thread should jump back up as the most recent item in the chat history.

“We can reach anyone”
Pros
It brings team conversations and direct messages together in one place which makes it really convenient. We can reach the entire team or only the people involved, depending on the situation. Every conversation is searchable and even archived sessions can still be looked up later which is very helpful. I also appreciate being able to set up separate channels for different topics like technical questions, admin discussions and random chat. Notifications on both my computer and phone help me stay updated and I can turn them off when I need some quiet time.
Cons
The getting-started tutorial felt a little limited. It didn't provide much guidance around integrations like Zoom or GitHub so we ended up setting those up much later.

Pros
Managing a website with support from multiple departments and companies around the world works much better with this software. It brings everyone together in one digital collaboration space, feels very user-friendly to use and comes loaded with features. It's also kind of fun being able to say, "Just slack it to me!"

“Fantastic sync with Google Drive”
Pros
Being able to message colleagues, clients and teammates directly is one of the best parts. The platform feels very user-friendly and the way it works with Google Drive is a big plus.
Cons
