Quick and simple communication

Pros

It makes team communication quick and simple, with organized channels that keep different topics separated. The search works well, the integrations are really useful and it fits remote work nicely. It also helps the team feel more connected overall.

Cons

Amount of notifications can become overwhelming. Important updates sometimes get buried and it can be difficult to fully disconnect. It also has a tendency to create a lot of chatter which can sometimes get in the way of actual progress.

Automates tasks and boosts productivity.

Pros

Keeps conversations moving in real time, whether it's one-on-one messages or group channels for bigger team discussions. Sharing files is simple and the integrations with tools like Google Drive, Trello, Zoom, GitHub and plenty of others make it fit nicely into daily workflows. The searchable message history is also really useful when you need to revisit older discussions and the apps and bots help automate tasks and boost productivity.

Cons

The pricing can get pretty high if you need access to many of its features. In a larger organization, it can also become a bit of a headache to manage the number of people, channels and groups.

Simple to get around,

Pros

It works really well for keeping communication flowing across teams, both inside and outside the organization. The layout is simple to get around, tagging people or groups is simple and the integrations with other software are a big plus since they bring everything together in one central place.

Cons

Because our organization has so many teams and moving parts, the number of channels can feel a little overwhelming and the constant messages can get noisy. That said, being able to mute channels, mark favorites and use other customization options makes it much easier to focus only on the information that matters to you.

Best choice for team communication

Pros

Having everyone on our team in one place has been a fantastic way to handle important communication. We run a multi-unit franchise with nearly 120 employees across 3 locations, operating 7 days a week so getting updates out to people on different schedules can be a challenge. Slack has been the most convenient way to share important information with employees across every location without relying on the dreaded group text.

Cons

Price of the premium plan is a downside. The main benefit we would get from paying is access to older messages and beyond that, we really would not use many of the extra features. At $8 per user per month, that cost feels too high for what we actually need.

Wonderful project management tools

Pros

Working with teammates across different locations and time zones feels much more connected with Slack. It brings a lot into one app, including private messages, group chats, channels, project management tools, shared documents, 1:1 meetings with video sharing and automations. It also connects well with plenty of other software like Google Calendar, Google Drive, Box, Coda and Lattice which makes it even more useful.

Cons

The built-in project management and file-sharing features are definitely helpful but they still feel somewhat limited when compared with software that is dedicated specifically to those functions.

Essential for remote teamwork

Pros

For a fully remote setup, this has become an essential tool for keeping communication and collaboration organized. It helps me stay consistently connected with my team even when we're all working from different places.

Cons

There really aren't many downsides that come to mind but the team does need to use it properly to respect off-hours. With a tool like this, people can end up being contacted constantly even in the evening so it's important to make good use of features that show whether someone is available or not.

Channels and search function are stellar

Pros

Channels, threads and huddles are up and running in seconds. Notifications only reach the right people and emoji handle the rest.

Cons

I tried to find a weak spot and came up with nothing so even more credit there, search is incredibly fast, bots do exactly what they're supposed to and files stay organized.

Useful hashtag notifications

Pros

Having separate channels, posts and chats for different teams and purposes makes communication much more organized. The hashtag notifications are also really useful because people can quickly stay updated on the topics they actually care about.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve at first and it doesn't connect with Microsoft tools very smoothly. It also feels like the design was made with a younger, Gen Z-style audience in mind.

Powerful team chat and integrations

Pros

This tool makes communication with coworkers really simple and the wide range of integrations helps turn all that back-and-forth into something much more productive. I've also really enjoyed using Canvas for longer-form internal content.

Cons

Ctrl+K or CMD+K, when text is highlighted, opens Search instead of adding a hyperlink. Since I work on the web, where Ctrl+K is commonly used to create links, that shortcut behavior throws me off.

Top-tier team communication

Pros

Hands down, this is the best communication tool I've used for business and I've even used it in my personal life as well. It's fast organized and works really well for direct messages, group chats and channels. The reaction feature is one of my favorites and my team has a lot of fun uploading custom reaction icons. It also connects with almost every tool we use which keeps everything organized in one place. On top of that, it even has its own built-in video conferencing feature.

Cons

there's nothing about it that I don't like.

Fluid messaging and tidy interface

Pros

It has a clear interface, fluid messaging, better-quality video calls and solid document sharing. Overall, it's been a really useful tool to work with.

Once the number of channels grows too much, managing them becomes complicated and it gets hard to find older messages.
