It would benefit from some digital design enhancements to improve its user experience and make it more streamlined.

The scheduling feature of Visual Planning was the primary reason we get it for our service department. The programs additional customization capabilities sealed the deal. Our implementation specialist was exceptional and stayed highly involved throughout the entire process. We always felt understood and confident that our needs would be met. Since we now use Visual Planning for every aspect that involves our service department, from scheduling to service reports, quoting, invoicing, and timesheets, the integration process was extensive. We're delighted that the end product aligns with our initial expectations. Overall, we are extremely satisfied.

Cons

Due to the integration and automation in our solution there are times when the system can be slow. We have been making small changes to improve this as we have only been using Visual Planning on a day to day basis for about two months.

The software offers the ability to configure and leverage various items and adding visual aids to specific elements as they are configured. There are countless options to adapt and utilize, making every day a new learning experience. This is especially beneficial for my role, as systems become monotonous when learning stagnates.

Cons

One of the notable features of Visual Planning is the ability to make significant changes to the base configuration such as organizing statuses within dimensions or creating multiple dimensions. However there is an issue with kicking off individual users who have not logged out which can be problematic on a global platform. To free up licenses I have to log out all users, even those in different regions like Europe and India, when the licenses are needed in the USA.

We value the ability to create templates in VP that we can use for our trials. Its great to have visibility into PTO and know the availability of staff.

Cons

Training can be a bit hard to understand especially if you don't use the software every day. It takes some practice to become a proficient user.

The good thing about Visual Planning is that it’s easy to use and maintain. We have a very large workforce and most of them have had to work with the software at some point but the good news is, visual planning is especially programmed to cater novices, in my opinion. It is thoughtfully designed such that most people would find it easy to navigate and operate without much training. For those who still find it challenging to use, there are training videos available online. Even our non-tech business partners appreciate this program.

Visual Planning falls short on some of its promises as we ended up giving up the time tracking feature and moved to another software for it. Also, the VP desk server is very slow for everyday use and until they improve the connection speed, it’s not really something you’ll be able to rely on

Visual Planning provides a wide range of features, including scheduling, resource management, project tracking, and reporting. It caters to businesses of all sizes and industries. Additionally Visual Planning offers a mobile app for iOS and Android, enabling users to access their schedules and data from anywhere at any time. I thoroughly enjoy using Visual Planning at work and highly recommend it as a versatile project management application for collaborative work.

I have nothing bad to say about Visual Planning. The only area that could be enhanced is its integration with third party tools. It currently has limitations in this aspect which may be a drawback for businesses relying on a wide range of software applications. Improving this capability would be beneficial.

At first the production team was skeptical about moving to a relatively new planning software. You’d be surprised what won them over, it was the "drag and drop" capability, which they termed as a game changer. It does not seem like much but the mere seconds it saves every time adds up to hours of saved time at the end of every week. It has a lot of useful features, and our business has greatly benefited from the ability to change the production plan in real-time and examine the impact of delays on strict delivery dates.

Cons

The only gripe I have with Visual Planning is probably the way it looks. It feels like a decade-old software that doesn’t match its modern offerings. It’s a bit distracting if you’d ask me. They did try to fix the UI in recent updates but it’s only just an improvement over the last one. They still have a lot of work to do in order to really bring out the shine in their software. But this does not affect the functionality at all so it’s not something that people should consider when buying the software.

We have used this software to really “plan” for almost everything in our company. It has helped us in resource management as well as the growth of our staff members thanks to helpful training programs. The real-time data available is very handy when managing resources, especially if we have to decide whether to increase or decrease the allocated number. We have been able to micro-manage and adjust everything as we move forward to meet the ever-increasing demands of our business. Visual Planning makes understanding trends easier, which enables proactive decision-making. It also saves a ton of time thanks to efficient reporting.

Cons

It is reliable software with one of the most detailed planning capabilities on the market. And we actually invested after getting caught (happily) in the sales pitch, which showed a lot of promise and features that would help us manage a lot of stuff on a single platform. However, we have not been able to utilize a lot of those features due to their high price. The basic package would get you the most you need but you really need to set aside a much larger budget if you want to unlock more potential of the software.

Planning can be done in a lot of different ways and there’s an endless list of software solutions in the market. But the best one I found is easily Visual Planning. It’s created specifically for the IT sector or at least that’s what I feel since almost everything VP offers fits right in with our workflow. And best of all, the customer support team is extraordinarily helpful. They will go above and beyond to improve your experience. They have helped me integrate VP completely with our business without any unwanted fuss or expense.

Cons

If we work with a lot of restrictions, the software gradually slows down and almost comes to a halt at times. This is not something new, though. As I have seen, almost every software I’ve used eventually lags as the load is increased and it has to do hundreds and even thousands of calculations. As much as this is understandable, I just have this complaint because we totally rely on VP for all our planning now and there are critical tasks every now and then, which become difficult to perform due to slowdowns.

“A very powerful solution for scheduling and tracking

Pros

Two reasons it has been great for us: Number 1 is that it is extremely flexible and can be setup to do the most complex scheduling and Number 2 is the beauty of its interface. It lets us readily see multiple pieces of equipment, their locations and more all in one place.

Cons

With a software so powerful comes an obvious downside of it being so complex. However, the product training team is very competent and knows what they are doing.
