“Everything is well-organized”
Pros
Everything feels well organized, with plenty of options, categories and charts that clearly show your budget, balances and other financial details. It is easy to find information due to the well structured interface.
Cons
The downside is the glitches. At times after an update, the system stops pulling data automatically and it can go unnoticed for a while. Bank and credit card updates may not come through for days, weeks or even months which means pending transactions get missed depending on when you catch it. When that happens, you end up having to enter everything manually.

“All my finances in one place”
Pros
Being able to use Simplifi both on my phone and on the website has been a big plus. I also really appreciate that I can connect my bank accounts, credit cards and liability accounts so everything is pulled together automatically in one place for me.
Cons
My only real complaint is that accounts needing extra authentication or frequent password updates sometimes get disconnected from the app. It's not really the software's fault but it can still be a bit inconvenient.

“Frustrating tiers and sync issues”
Pros
It's nice to have all my income sources gathered in one place and I can also put together basic invoices when needed even though I honestly prefer using another platform for invoicing.
Cons
A few helpful features are locked behind specific pricing tiers which gets frustrating when I want access to them but wouldn't use them enough to justify the extra cost. On top of that, I ran into occasional data syncing problems from time to time.

“Interface feels logical”
Pros
The interface felt very natural because it mirrors a checkbook register. The way transactions are categorized and the reporting tools are set up makes it simple to track down older expenses and wrap up IRS tax prep with just a click. I was especially happy when tags were introduced since they let me get very specific without having to create a bunch of extra subcategories. On top of that, when I had a highly technical question about a process, customer support got back to me quickly with a helpful answer.
Cons
I can understand why the company shifted to an annual subscription model and moved more toward an online platform. Even so, I felt more secure with the desktop-only version, where I could back up my data to external hard drives myself. That setup also seemed more cost-effective to me.

“Custom reports with Quicken”
Pros
Tax season is much simpler with this and it makes handling my rental property feel effortless. I can also build custom reports pretty easily which helps me take a closer look at my financial situation.
Cons
There is a bit of setup involved when customizing categories before you can create the simpler reports you need but once that part is finished, the effort absolutely pays off.

“Too pricey for small teams”
Pros
The software is very detailed and comes with a lot of features. It covers all the aspects that I need for my work. Also the toolbar layout is organized well.
Cons
The pricing is just too high and the extra add-ons cost far more than what small businesses would reasonably want to pay for software like this.

“Centralized solution for financial information”
Pros
Having all my financial information together in one place is a big plus and the software is very simple to use. Its interface is tidy and uncluttered. The reports especially the quick answer reports, are excellent and make tax season much easier to handle.
Cons
my accountant no longer uses it so I can't send her electronic reports anymore. I'm also not happy with the price.

“Powerful investment tracking”
Pros
The customizable reports are a big plus. That flexibility is extremely useful for my work. What matters most to me right now is the investment tracking since it lets me keep an eye on stocks and retirement accounts with real-time updates.
Cons
It wasn't very beginner-friendly. The interface felt a little overwhelming because there are so many features and it took some time to set up my accounts and figure out how to generate reports.

Honestly I haven't run into any real downside with it. I've been using it for 15 years and it has continued to work well for me.

“Tax season relief”
Pros
Keeping tabs on my small business income, expenses and overall net worth is much more manageable with this. It has made a big difference especially when tax season comes around because it no longer feels like something to dread.
Cons
My only real complaint is that it is not very mobile friendly. I wish I could simply snap a photo of a receipt on my phone and have it upload automatically into the software.

“Scales well with growing needs”
Pros
It covers a lot of what my business needs in terms of features and overall functionality. The reporting tools are simple to use and easy to access when I need them. It also handles multiple businesses well which is a big plus and the platform feels scalable as those needs grow.
Cons
At times, entering transactions or fixing previous entries feels like it could take fewer steps. I also wish custom reports were simpler to format especially when it comes to adding logos, branding and making them look the way I want.

“Fair pricing”
Pros
The pricing felt quite reasonable and connecting it to my bank account and credit card account was fairly simple.
Cons
One thing that bothered me was how the charge names from my bank and card accounts didn't match up very neatly with the imported data. It felt like I was constantly cleaning things up by hand.

“Solid reporting and record keeping”
Pros
It's basically become my record of almost everything I've spent money on since 1995 which is incredibly valuable. The reporting features are excellent and give me exactly the kind of detail I need.
Cons
I do wish it supported multiple currencies better especially when dealing with Canadian and US dollars.

“User-friendly budgeting tools”
Pros
The interface is very user-friendly. I really appreciate how simple it is to split our money into different budget categories and it's also very convenient to search for expenses by the category they were assigned to.
Cons
Every now and then, I run into issues when a check is written incorrectly and has to be printed again. It feels like the process for voiding and reprinting checks could be more simple.

“Frustrating migration experience”
Pros
I was really hoping to move over decades of data from Quicken for the Mac 2007 into Classic Premier especially since my subscription is still active through July 2025.
Cons
Compared with Quicken for the Mac 2007, this version does not provide a pop-up window that lets you review newly downloaded transactions before they are posted to the register. Because of that, there is no practical way to match scheduled transactions or other entries already in the register with the downloaded ones. The result is duplicate transactions and users are then expected to keep going back through their registers to manually merge those duplicates which is both time-consuming and unrealistic.

“Keeps track of finances”
Pros
It does a really nice job of helping both families and businesses stay on top of their finances and build a better budget. The layout is simple to understand so it doesn't take much effort to start using it. Customer support has also been fantastic. We got guidance setting up a budget that actually fit our situation and it even helped us begin planning and saving for retirement even if that still feels pretty far off.
Cons
This isn't really a negative but I initially assumed Quicken was just meant for business finances and didn't realize it could be used for personal finances too.

“flexible personal finance tool”
Pros
Quicken is a flexible personal finance tool that handles everything from basic checking and savings account tracking to more involved accounts like credit cards, investments and mortgages. It also creates reports and graphs that give a full view of your overall financial situation.
Cons
As far as I know, it's only offered as a subscription now. Previously, you could just buy an upgrade when a new version came out or even wait a year and purchase later once more features had been added.
