Jobvite is a popular applicant tracking system (ATS) used by more than 22,000 companies to manage their hiring process. As a job seeker, you can leverage Jobvite’s candidate portal to monitor the progress of your applications in real time. This guide will take you through the steps to access Jobvite’s official applicant portal, check your application status, and troubleshoot common issues.

Let's get started!

Accessing The Jobvite Applicant Portal (Logging In Or Creating An Account)

Before you can check your application status, you need to access the Jobvite candidate portal. This is the official online portal where applicants can log in to see their submissions and updates. Here is how to get started:

  • Visit the company’s careers page or go directly to id.jobvite.com (the official Jobvite login page)
  • On Jobvite’s website, look for the ‘Job Seeker Login’ option which will redirect you to the candidate sign-in page
  • Enter the email and password you used when you applied. Typically, your username is your email address. If you’ve applied to a Jobvite-powered job before, you might already have an account. Use those credentials to sign in
  • If you don’t have a Jobvite account yet, you’ll need to create one. Click the ‘Register’ option (often labeled ‘Create an Account’ or ‘Sign up’) on the login page. Make sure to use the same email address that you used for your job application so that your application will be linked to your new account
  • On the registration form, you’ll set up a password and provide some basic info. Once registered, check your email if Jobvite asks you to verify it, then return to the login page and sign in with your new credentials

Tip: If you forgot your password, click the ‘Forgot Password’ link on the login page – Jobvite will email you a link to reset it (Check your spam folder if you don’t see the reset email.)

Step-By-Step: Tracking Your Application Status In Jobvite

Once you are logged into the system’s portal, you can easily find the status of your submitted applications. Follow these steps to track your application’s progress:

  • After logging in, look for a section or menu item labeled ‘Applications’. In many cases, the portal’s home screen for candidates will display your recent job applications. If not, click on your profile icon or user menu – there is often an ‘Applications’ option there. This will take you to your Jobvite applications dashboard
  • On the Applications page, you should see a list of all the jobs you’ve applied to through Jobvite (across any company using Jobvite). Each entry will typically show the ‘Company Name’, the ‘Job Title/Position’, the ‘Date’ you applied, and the current ‘Status’ of that application
  • Examine the status shown next to the job title. Jobvite will display a status like ‘New,’ ‘In Process,’ ‘Interview,’ ‘Offer,’ ‘Hired,’ or ‘Not Selected,’ depending on how far along your application is. This status is updated by the hiring team to reflect your progress. (See the next section for what each status means)
  • After logging in, your Jobvite ‘Applications’ page will list each job you’ve applied to and its current status. In the example screenshot above, the candidate has four applications with statuses like ‘New,’ ‘Screened,’ and ‘Not Selected’
  • Each status label appears in the Status column (highlighted in red) for each job. A ‘New’ status means the application was received but not yet reviewed, ‘Screened’ indicates the application passed an initial screening, and ‘Not Selected’ means the candidate is no longer being considered for that role

Optional: When you’re done checking statuses, you can log out of your Jobvite account for security, especially if you’re on a public or shared device. Simply click your profile icon or menu and choose ‘Sign Out’

Understanding Your Jobvite Application Status Updates

Seeing a status on your Jobvite profile is one thing – but what does it actually mean? Here are the common application status labels you’ll encounter in Jobvite and what each signifies:

  • New: Your application has been received by the system. (This is the initial status when you first apply. It indicates your resume/application is in the employer’s database but likely hasn’t been reviewed yet)
  • In Process: The company has acknowledged your application and is reviewing it. This is a general status, meaning your application is actively in the recruitment pipeline (often used if the company hasn’t provided more specific details)
  • Not Selected: Unfortunately, you were not chosen for that position. Your application has been declined, or the role was filled with another candidate
  • Hired: You were selected for the position! This means you got the job and have accepted the offer. (This status might appear after all onboarding paperwork is done, or the company might mark the requisition as filled)
  • Closed: The job requisition was closed without a hire, or the position is no longer open. No further action will happen on that application. ‘Closed’ can occur if the company decides not to fill the role or if it was put on hold/canceled. If you see 'Closed,' it’s not about you as a candidate but the job opening itself

Note: Jobvite allows companies to decide how much detail to show you about your application’s progress. In fact, Jobvite has a setting that can show ‘extended’ candidate information. When enabled, you’ll see more specific statuses (like ‘Screened,’ ‘Approved by Hiring Manager,’ etc.). When disabled, you might only see generalized updates (everything labeled as ‘In Process’ until a final decision). The screenshot below shows the statuses that job seekers see when ‘Show Extended Candidate Information’ is enabled.

If you’re ever unsure what a particular status means at a certain company, remember that the hiring team is in control of those labels, not Jobvite’s support staff. ‘In Process’ at one company could mean something slightly different at another company. When in doubt, reach out to the recruiter or HR contact for clarification on where you stand.

Common Issues And Troubleshooting

While checking your application status on Jobvite is usually straightforward, you might encounter some hiccups. Here are some common issues applicants face and how to resolve them:

  • Missing Confirmation Email: Check your spam folder. If it’s missing, try registering a Jobvite account with the same email—your application should appear. If it doesn’t, the company may not have enabled online status tracking, so you’ll need to contact them directly for updates
  • Application Status Not Updating: It can be frustrating to see ‘New’ or ‘In Process’ for a long time without updates. Remember that hiring processes can take several weeks (or even months), and many companies won’t update the Jobvite status until a decisive step happens (like moving to an interview or marking not selected). Try to be patient. If the job is still open, then you are likely still in consideration
  • Status Changed Without Notification: Some companies update Jobvite before sending rejection emails—or may not send one at all. If this happens, it’s best to focus on other opportunities
  • Duplicate Applications Or Resume Updates: The Jobvite system typically does not allow duplicate applications for the same job opening. If you try to apply again, you might see an error like ‘You have already applied to this job.’ Instead of applying a second time, use the portal to review your existing application

This guide has covered everything you need to know about checking your Jobvite application status. If you encounter a technical issue with Jobvite that you can’t resolve (e.g., the site keeps giving errors, or you suspect something is truly wrong with your account), you can submit a support ticket to Jobvite.
