Easy setup process

Pros

Implementation was incredibly quick and getting things running didn't take much effort. The workflow is clear enough that we could move forward quickly and without a steep learning curve.

Cons

There was a small hiccup during the initial rollout when training the team. Once we got past that, everything settled in nicely.

solid value for small businesses

Pros

Great value for money and a really good fit for small businesses. It's also idle in the sense that it stays out of the way while you handle your accounting work. For overall financial management, it's been useful as a tool for managing the numbers and keeping things organized.

Cons

The tool management side was already working well but the financial management features could use some improvement.

great for day to day work

Pros

Very user friendly and it genuinely helps companies get organized and operate more smoothly.

Cons

Compared with other options, it doesn't seem to have many usability problems so the downsides on that front are pretty minimal.

time-saving Revenue Management feature

Pros

Revenue Management feature is genuinely impressive. It takes a little effort to wrap your head around at first but once it clicks, it cuts down a lot of manual work and saves tons of time. Handling multiple subsidiaries and multiple currencies has been a big win for us too. We manage eight subsidiaries across three currencies and keeping everything in one place with automatic currency conversion plus automated end-of-month eliminations makes month-end far less painful. The automations also cover a lot of what we used to do manually. Monthly postings to the general ledger, amortization calculations for a wide range of IT purchases and monthly subscription handling. On top of that the reconciliation tool has been a real time-saver during month-end close. We also connected it to Salesforce without much hassle thanks to an out-of-the-box connector. Support has been consistently knowledgeable; issues get resolved quickly and questions are answered fast. And when we need guidance, SuiteAnswers (the Help tool) covers most of what we run into, plus there's an active Enhancements Requests database that helps us track improvements.

Cons

A few parts feel a bit rigid. Revenue recognition postings, for example-but there are workable alternatives if you're willing to set things up thoughtfully. Adoption can be slower because the workflow is quite different from many more mainstream systems, mainly due to how automated everything is. Canada sales tax management isn't fully aligned either. It seems like the setup carries over American-style functionality and Canadian codes don't always match perfectly though we've been able to work around it.

strong fit for our work

Pros

We manage investments across multiple business areas like Hospitality, Restaurants, Aviation, Real Estate, Ranches, plus our home office and some activities are intercompany while others aren't. Since everything has to be reflected in combined statements, this tool has been a strong fit. We're able to configure the subsidiaries with the right rollups and handle consolidation and eliminations and then use the drilldown workflow to reconcile variances when they come up. After moving to this, we were able to improve the existing business processes and introduce better efficiencies, along with more financial transparency.

Cons

Getting fully aligned with our older business processes was challenging though that wasn't really the software's fault. The bigger issue was limited standardization especially around harmonizing data management and the Chart of Accounts. I've also been hearing a short list of user-reported concerns. A lot of this seems to be tied to the fact that we're working with 130+ subsidiaries in a single report and the first column with the GL account reference doesn't "freeze" the way it would in Excel. One workaround we're using is downloading the data into a worksheet and reviewing it there.

A tool that grows with your business

Pros

I appreciate how much you can customize the setup and keep expanding it as your needs grow.

Cons

That said, it feels pretty complex and the cost adds up fast. Also some basic features or items are missing compared to other software I've used so you don't always start with the essentials.

Pros

Flexible when it comes to configuration which let us customize it to how our business actually works.

Cons

Some of the features are a bit difficult to use and the initial setup ended up being more complicated than we expected.

all in one platform

Pros

You can handle everything from a single platform instead of bouncing between different tools. It's convenient to keep workflows in one place.

Cons

Each module you might need comes with a pretty steep price tag. On top of that the interface isn't very user friendly since there are multiple ways to reach the same results, it also makes onboarding and training new employees harder.

Connected our whole workflow

Pros

Our team really enjoys the strong connection we get across every department in the company. Having our workflow from sales through collections all in one platform has made things much more organized. Before this, we were stuck with a fragmented setup spread across multiple reporting tools. Our CRM, accounting and service systems didn't talk to each other well. Since switching, we've saved a lot of money and time, improved efficiency and it's clearly helped our growth accelerate.

Cons

The only part we haven't fully used yet is the marketing side in NetSuite. Our website is connected to NetSuite as well but working through the website to NetSuite flow isn't the simplest at least for campaigns and SEO so we still rely on an outside tool to handle those activities.

simple to use interface

Pros

The software feels easy to use and the interface is really user friendly. Someone who doesn't have an accounting background can still work with it without too much trouble. Another strong point is that reports can be customized at the user level, like tweaking GL entries, adding or removing columns and adjusting what data range shows for A/R and A/P aging.

Cons

Hasn't been very helpful for me when it comes to financial reporting and automation.

fast setup

Pros

Implementation is quick and getting started felt easy as well. I really like how highly customizable it is so it can be shaped to match what our team actually needs. Compared with other options, it offers more features and better flexibility. Since switching, we've saved both time and costs because most of the workflow is handled digitally. It's also made a big difference when transferring our records from our old accounting system. On top of that the integrations and configuration options help our processes run smoothly.

Cons

I haven't run into any major issues with integration or performance lately. The only real pain point is pricing as it feels a bit too expensive for smaller businesses.

Inventory accounts that make sense

Pros

Keeping accounts for inventory was pretty simple, as long as it's set up and integrated correctly.

Cons

Setting up products and managing pricing was harder to maintain at the SKU level which then forced the system to pull and merge data from JDA.

speeds up consolidation

Pros

Working with this has genuinely changed how our finance team operates. Since we're a multi-currency group, the automatic consolidation and reporting are a huge help and have cut several days off our reporting timeline. On top of that the reporting dimensionality lets us capture data and analyze it from multiple angles which means we're able to share more useful, board-ready insights.

Cons

Connects with lots of third party apps but it doesn't currently integrate with our HRIS. Having that capability would be a strong improvement going forward.

powerful search feature

Pros

The search features are incredibly versatile and that flexibility is the biggest strength. It can feel a bit overwhelming at first but once you spend some time with it, most people get comfortable quickly.

Cons

Role management could be improved. I'd rather see a setup where you can use the same exact layouts across the board, while permissions are handled cleanly through role or access levels.

top notch

Pros

Reporting and alerting capabilities feel unlike anything else I've used. The overall functionality is impressive and it's fairly easy to work with after a bit of training. Unlike a lot of other tools I've tried, there aren't many limits on the types of reports you can build or how deeply you can customize them.

Cons

Aside from the very steep pricing, there isn't much to complain about. Occasionally we hit minor bugs or some inconsistency in functionality but it hasn't been serious enough to cause major problems.

day to day business decisions made simple

Pros

Brought together what used to feel like disconnected parts of our business into one platform. Now every user has a complete, all-around view of our customers which makes day to day business decisions much simpler. Updates are also available in real time so the info we need is ready when we need it.

Cons

Built in inventory module feels pretty basic. While it does support multiple warehouse locations, setting up item/bin location reporting can get tricky unless you're working with more advanced modules.

easy workflow and better visibility

Pros

Easy to use and it actually connects the different parts of the company in one place. That unified setup makes it simpler to follow what's happening across the business without jumping between systems.

Cons

There's a bit of a safety gap: you can make mistakes without getting any warnings. It also lets you assign items to orders or put inventory into locations that don't exist or can't be found which creates extra cleanup work after the fact.

makes switching subsidiaries effortless

Pros

I really like how simple it is to move between subsidiaries within the software. The intercompany two sided postings also make reconciliation much less of a headache and SuiteBilling has been a solid addition for managing billing.

Cons

After upgrading to SuiteBilling, our tax returns stopped working through the system. Advanced intercompany journals can't be selected for the return which broke the workflow that we previously had in place. We weren't aware of this change before the Suitebilling install so the whole thing ended up being pretty frustrating.
