What Is CoverMyMeds?

CoverMyMeds is a medication access platform that connects pharmacies, providers, payers, and pharma brands to remove barriers between patients and their prescribed therapies. The software offers tools such as electronic prior authorization, automated claim rejection resolution, real-time patient cost and benefit checks, and clinical safety alerts delivered directly at the point of care. Additionally, it helps businesses handle prescription claims and reimbursement more effectively by supporting pharmacy operations tools and biopharma dispensing choices.

By connecting these stakeholders on one network, CoverMyMeds helps reduce delays in care, cut down on manual back-and-forth, and get patients started on their prescribed treatment faster.

What Is CoverMyMeds Best For?

CoverMyMeds stands out for its ‘Claim Rejection’ workflow, which helps pharmacies and healthcare providers address prescription claims denials at the point of dispensing. When a claim is rejected, the platform identifies the issue and guides patients through the appropriate next steps, such as initiating a prior authorization or submitting the required information to the payer. This technology promotes improved collaboration between pharmacies and providers by reducing back-and-forth phone calls and expediting prior authorization requests. As a result, claim denials are settled more quickly, and patients continue to receive the medication indicated by their doctor.

How Much Does CoverMyMeds Cost?

CoverMyMeds pricing starts at $0/user/month, as the platform is free for healthcare providers and pharmacies. This includes access to electronic prior authorization (ePA) submission, real-time status tracking, and streamlined communication between providers, pharmacies, and payers.

Who Is CoverMyMeds For?

CoverMyMeds software serves a wide range of stakeholders across the healthcare industry, including:

  • Pharma
  • Health systems
  • Care teams
  • Retail pharmacy
  • Digital pharmacy and telemedicine
  • Payers

CoverMyMeds Use Cases

Based on our examination of CoverMyMeds features and market positioning, we have identified important scenarios where digital pharmacies, care teams, retail pharmacies, and payers frequently use the platform for drug access, prior authorization, and claims coordination:

Digital Pharmacies And Telemedicine Providers Scaling Virtual Care Without Added Overhead

Establishing a virtual pharmacy usually entails starting from scratch with licensing, fulfillment, and compliance infrastructure, which might impede telemedicine companies' attempts to provide online access to medications. With a virtual pharmacy connection that connects to current telemedicine platforms, CoverMyMeds significantly lessens that burden. Digital health companies can provide remote patients with access to medications without incurring the costs associated with traditional pharmacy infrastructure.

Care Teams Reclaiming Time Lost To Administrative Work

One of the most time-consuming aspects of a care team's workday is prior authorization, which frequently entails numerous phone calls, faxes, and documentation to verify a patient may obtain a prescription drug. An hour is not spent with patients for each hour that is spent on the procedure. Prior authorization requests can be electronically submitted and tracked via CoverMyMeds, and decisions are frequently returned instantly rather than after several days of laborious back-and-forth. As a result, fewer administrative responsibilities divert employees from providing direct patient care.

Retail Pharmacies Tightening Operations Around Claims And Reimbursement

Retail pharmacies manage numerous moving financial and operational elements at once, including processing prescription claims, pursuing reimbursements, and getting ready for audits. Any gaps in any one of these tasks can reduce margins. CoverMyMeds provides customizable solutions that automate these processes, including audit protection, reimbursement optimization, and claims processing. By utilizing these technologies, pharmacies are better able to manage expenses while maintaining efficient daily operations.

Payers Balancing Prior Auth Volume With Benefit Transparency

Processing prior authorization requests at scale and informing providers about members' coverage details are two conflicting needs that health insurers and PBMs must balance. Care is slowed or delayed when these procedures are disconnected because physicians are frequently left in the dark about coverage. In order to expedite coverage decisions without compromising accuracy, CoverMyMeds allows payers to automate electronic prior authorization while increasing provider visibility of member benefit information.

Is CoverMyMeds Right For You?

Are you looking for a complete solution to bridge gaps in drug access amongst pharmacies, payers, providers, and pharmaceutical brands? CoverMyMeds provides a strong platform that expedites prior authorization, addresses claim denials, and accelerates patients' access to therapy.

CoverMyMeds places a high priority on security by upholding Business Associate Agreements and HIPAA-compliant measures to assist in safeguarding Protected Health Information throughout its network. The platform isn't currently recognized as a QHIN or part of the TEFCA network, so companies that especially prioritize that level of national interoperability may want to consider this while evaluating it. CoverMyMeds is built to grow with healthcare organizations of all sizes, meeting increased operational requirements and patient volumes.

CoverMyMeds Features

Patient Support

Coverage for Patient CoverMyMeds helps patients obtain, afford, and adhere to their recommended treatments by combining human support with technology-based hub services. Patients in hub services have greater return interaction with their doctors, and those registered through e-enrollment receive therapy up to four days sooner.

See How It Works
Patient Affordability

This feature applies copay assistance and cash savings automatically at the point of dispense across roughly 50,000 pharmacies nationwide. It reduces prescription abandonment by lowering out-of-pocket costs before the patient ever leaves the counter.

Prior Authorization

Direct payer connections speed up determinations, and electronic prior authorization requests can be sent and completed up to three times faster than phone or fax. Additionally, pharmacists can initiate a request at the moment of claim denial, reducing the number of follow-up conversations between providers and pharmacies.

See How It Works
Biopharma Dispensing

Pharma brands get access to direct-to-patient delivery, clinical trial dispensing, and a free goods pharmacy program, all backed by a nationwide, redundant pharmacy network. Together, these choices reduce the amount of time needed for therapy while preserving uniformity and compliance among programs of all sizes.

Pharmacy Operations

Retail pharmacies use this feature to catch claim submission errors, recover lost reimbursement dollars, and monitor pricing changes automatically. Real-time alerts at the point of dispensing also help reduce audit risk and improve day-to-day staff productivity.

Field Reimbursement Services

Using payer-specific knowledge, committed Field Reimbursement Managers collaborate closely with provider offices to address access and reimbursement concerns as they emerge. Resubmissions and appeals following a denial or rejection are expedited by their visibility into the patient pathway.

Clinical Safety

At the point of dispensing, pharmacists receive electronic alerts about drug recalls, side effect updates, and adverse drug events, eliminating the need for manual research. Pharmacies can detect patient safety trends and chances for further advice, such as immunizations, by using detailed safety reporting.

See How It Works
Patient Cost Predictability

Before a prescription is even sent to the pharmacy, this feature surfaces out-of-pocket cost estimates, deductible status, and suitable medication alternatives. It also flags whether a prior authorization will be needed, helping providers and patients avoid surprises later in the process.

Chat is slow and often crashes

Pros

On a daily basis, I only need to log in once which is very convenient for me. Whenever a live representative is available, I've found they can usually identify why the app is failing and resolve the issue promptly.

Cons

Honestly, the chat feature is basically useless for me. I find it slow and it rarely answers the questions I ask, instead pushing me to wait for a human who often isn't available. The platform crashes or misbehaves about half the time and it will sometimes direct me to sections of the website that don't exist. Its archival tools feel outdated and clunky, forcing me to choose from limited options that don't reflect my needs. It also annoyingly repeats questions it has already asked and will demand citations or research studies to support a simple statement. On top of that, the allowed upload size is tiny compared with the kinds of files the system expects me to submit which makes some tasks impractical.

Simple prior auth submission

Pros

In my workflow, transmitting prior authorization forms to providers feels very simple which saves me time.

Cons

Although it does offer some integration with the McKesson Enterprise pharmacy system for sending prior authorizations, I find myself wishing it provided more great functionality, for example, the ability to directly access the complete prior authorization histories housed in McKesson so we wouldn't have to log in to that system separately every time.

Steep learning curve

Pros

With this system, I find submitting prior authorizations much more aligned. I also appreciate how helpful the customer support team is whenever I need guidance.

Cons

it is difficult to use as a beginner and feel it requires proper training. It occasionally returns incorrect information, for example, it has told me an authorization wasn't submitted even after it went through. When there's a problem with submitting authorizations, it doesn't explain what's wrong clearly. Also, it asks too many questions which makes the whole process harder.
