“Uncomplicated set up”
Pros
Setting it up was pretty simple, even for someone who isn't very tech-savvy. The program feels user-friendly and the instructions are clear enough to walk you through everything without much trouble.
Cons
The only thing I'd change is having the option to call someone when support is needed although the online help resources are actually very good.

“Superb client reminders”
Pros
Using this software has been really simple. It stays synced with my phone calendar and with the app on my phone, I can just tap an appointment on my calendar and the Telehealth link is right there. The client reminders are really helpful and the daily summary emails make it simple to stay on top of everything. It even includes the weather for the day which is a nice extra touch. I'm also looking forward to using the new screen sharing feature during Telehealth sessions.
Cons
I wish it had a way to handwrite progress notes directly in the system since I usually write my notes by hand during sessions instead of typing them.

“Love the reminders”
Pros
It felt natural because the forms are very close to what I was already using so the transition was really simple. The whole platform is very user-friendly. The calendar is especially helpful since it keeps track of whether I've completed notes and billing or still need to take care of them. And I absolutely love that it sends reminders.
Cons
I still haven't figured out the billing setup yet although I've heard it's pretty simple. I'd also love it if clients could respond to automated reminders more easily and have those replies show up in an inbox within it. A confidential or encrypted texting feature would be amazing too since then I could handle almost everything there besides actual phone calls. Even phone call support would be a nice addition. Right now I use Google Voice and it's not very good so I honestly think it could do a much better job.

“Simple to upload docs”
Pros
Getting around the platform is pretty simple and I really appreciate how easily documents can be uploaded. It works well overall although some parts feel outdated like not being able to type certain numbers directly and having to use the up and down arrows to adjust time.
Cons
A few parts of the system feel old-fashioned, especially the fact that you can't type certain numbers in directly and instead have to click arrows to change time. There are also certain blobs in the notes that can't be deleted and some charts can't be inserted at all. I've reached out through the support feature many times, submitted my questions and never got a response after purchasing the program, even though support was consistently available during the trial period. I'd really prefer to have a phone number to call and more accessible tech support when issues come up.

“Well-structured interface”
Pros
The interface felt really user-friendly and quick to set up. I also appreciate being able to customize my own notes and forms. On top of that, SimplePractice handles my appointment reminders and billing notifications for me which saves me a lot of effort.
Cons
I can't load both an assessment and a progress note for the same appointment.

“great customer service”
Pros
Moving into private practice felt much more manageable with this software. One feature I've really appreciated is being able to upload all of my documents and assessments to the client portal, then have clients complete everything before our first session. The customer support has also been very helpful and the onboarding session gave me a clear understanding of everything that came with choosing SimplePractice.
Cons
calendar view can be better. I'd prefer a little more flexibility instead of it being locked into a fixed week view from the current day through the next 7 days.

“Top choice for me”
Pros
Having everything in one place has been a huge plus for me. Beyond the calendar, client reminders and the available treatment plan templates, I really appreciate not needing a separate app or platform for credit card processing or telehealth. That all-in-one setup is exactly why it feels like the best software for my needs.
Cons
I'm still pretty new to it and honestly still loving it. I'll have to see how things go once I get into the next phase.

“Quick to learn”
Pros
Back when I worked at a counseling practice a few years ago, we used it and it was incredibly quick to learn and work into everyday use. That experience made the choice obvious when I recently opened my own private practice and needed software of my own. Even though there is naturally more to understand when you are using it as the administrator, the setup process is still very simple and it doesn't take long at all to get comfortable with it.
Cons
There is not much I dislike about it. If I had to point to one thing, I would love to see more response options for confirming and canceling appointments. The software I was using before had that feature and it was extremely useful to get confirmations or cancellations each morning for the next day.

“Appreciate the Wiley Treatment Planner feature”
Pros
I went with this software because the app felt very user-friendly and the client portal was simple to use as well. The Wiley Treatment Planner feature was also something I really appreciated.
Cons
I'd still love to see a dedicated app for clients so message notifications would go straight to their phones. I also wish the Wiley treatment planners offered more options and allowed you to select multiple disorders.

“exceptional built-in templates”
Pros
Built-in templates are a big plus because they can be adjusted to fit your own style and needs. The system feels very user-friendly overall. Like with any electronic software, there is a bit of a learning curve at first but this one felt simple to navigate and understand.
Cons
I have run into a few problems during telehealth video sessions. I'm still not sure whether that comes from the software itself or from my Wi-Fi connection. I do not have many telehealth clients but both of the two video sessions I've done had technical issues, either with hearing my clients or with the connection dropping. Since I can't tell if it's the platform or my internet, it's hard to say for certain. As someone just starting in private practice, the cost also feels pretty high. I decided to invest in it before building up my caseload because I wanted to avoid having to switch systems later and I'm happy I made that choice. Still, it would be nice if they offered some kind of introductory pricing for new practices since many of us do not start out with a full caseload right away.

“Private practice made simple”
Pros
Launching my private practice felt much more manageable with it. It takes the parts most counselors tend to struggle with like billing and intake forms and turns them into tasks that are much easier to handle.
Cons
The interface isn't the most user-friendly at first but the platform makes up for it with really helpful videos and articles that walk you through how to do everything.

“Messaging works well”
Pros
Messaging works well, the built-in Stripe credit card billing option is really convenient and the online intake and forms make the whole process much more efficient.
Cons
The limited selection of child and adolescent-focused templates can make things harder for clinicians who mainly work with that population.

“Fantastic scheduling tool”
Pros
Right from the start, this product felt incredibly user-friendly and the range of things it can handle is impressive. Onboarding was very simple. I've ended up using it for far more parts of my business than I originally expected. The features I've appreciated most are the scheduling tool, the payment options and how it keeps previous notes saved for ongoing use.
Cons
At this point I haven't run into anything I wish it offered that it doesn't already have. I can genuinely say I haven't been able to come up with a downside. Several colleagues and I have talked more than once about how comprehensive it is and we're really happy with it.

Pros
it has been very user friendly and simple to navigate. The FAQ section and customer support have also been incredibly helpful whenever needed. Once I got familiar with everything it can do, a lot of the stress I was dealing with really went away.

“Practical billing setup”
Pros
This comes across as a really solid app and I appreciate that it can be downloaded on both Mac and Apple devices so there's some flexibility in how you use it. The billing setup seems practical and manageable and the telehealth feature is especially interesting.
Cons
The website performs well overall but when I first downloaded the app, it kept closing unexpectedly. After reinstalling it though, the app started working properly again.

“fast implementation”
Pros
Getting started was quick and the platform is simple to move around in.
Cons
The complete feature set only comes with a plan that costs about twice what I expected. I'm giving it another month to decide whether the investment makes sense.

“Attractive pricing”
Pros
Being able to move between devices is one of the best parts. I can handle appointments and clinical notes right from my phone, then switch to my laptop at home for more advanced tasks like building custom forms. The daily reminders are subtle without being annoying, the client forms are handy and compared with other EMRs, I've been really happy with the pricing.
Cons
mobile app still feels a bit limited in what it can do. It would be a big improvement if I could create client forms, change settings and handle more admin tasks directly in the app. I'd also love to see a broader selection of templates, even beyond what the premium plan currently includes, especially options like the PSQ and HRQOL.

“User-friendly overall”
Pros
Everything in the software feels very user-friendly. It only takes a few seconds to book a client and finding what I need is simple. The text reminders and phone call features are a big plus and the insurance billing is simple enough that it really helped me take my practice to the next level.
Cons
Customers have to create a patient portal before they can book an appointment. That can be frustrating for first-time clients who are used to scheduling online right away and some may end up choosing a competitor instead just because they do not want to make a phone call which, honestly, I completely relate to as a Millennial.
