“Simple scheduling and setup”

Pros

I find it easy to use, especially when it comes to scheduling and checking my calendar. Adding new clients and getting them fully set up in the system has also been really simple and convenient.

Cons

The only difficulty I've run into is using it with Internet Explorer since that only works on Windows 10 S.

“Promising start with SimplePractice”

Pros

It has been a pretty smooth transition and the platform already seems simple to use. I'm still in the middle of moving everything over to SP but the first impression has been very positive.

Cons

It's still a little early for me to fully judge the downsides. At this point, my only wish is being able to color-code appointments on the calendar like you can in Outlook but aside from that, I really don't have any major complaints yet.

“Not overcomplicated”

Pros

Using this EHR feels refreshingly simple. It's not overcomplicated so I can finish my documentation without any hassle or jumping through multiple screens just to enter progress notes. I also really appreciate that the calendar shows patients by their first and last names instead of assigning some confusing label I have to memorize like my previous EHR did.

Cons

Setting appointment times feels a bit awkward. It automatically defaults to the current time so I have to scroll to the right time whenever I schedule a patient. It's a small annoyance but I do wish there were a better way to assign appointment times. Since I often respond to appointment requests in the evening, the calendar tends to default to a PM time which I'm not thrilled about. It's a minor complaint but I have to pay close attention or I could accidentally book someone for 8,00 PM when it was supposed to be a morning visit. I'm sure I'll adjust to it over time.

“offers a free trial”

Pros

Having a free trial was a big plus. The support team has been excellent, quick to respond, very helpful and they answered my questions clearly. The biggest reason I went with it was the video counseling and online billing features and both have been outstanding.

Cons

I'd like the ability to log into the client portal myself so I can confirm clients are able to access everything they need. It would be helpful to see the portal exactly the way they see it.

“Worth the money”

Pros

Every day, it handles just about everything I need as a health professional. Keeping client information secure is a top priority and this platform lets me manage that while writing client notes, communicating with clients, handling client and insurance billing and storing documents all in one place. Having all of those tasks covered by a single system is something I really value.

Cons

Honestly, I don't have any real complaints. There is a monthly subscription cost but the convenience and usability of the software make it well worth paying.

“Does everything for us”

Pros

From the start, this software has checked every box for us and then some. It has everything we need, plus extra features we didn't expect. I've already been recommending it to anyone I know who needs this kind of software because it's so much better than the alternatives that are harder to use. We were using Therapymate before and that experience was awful by comparison.

Cons

At the moment, my only real complaint is the mobile app. I need a way to view all clinicians' schedules in one place since my partner and I share an office. Right now, we have to use two separate devices just to manage the calendar properly. If they fix that feature, I'd be completely obsessed with this software.

“efficient tool for running a practice”

Pros

Running my private practice feels much more efficient with this software. I used to rely on three or four separate programs to handle everything that SimplePractice now keeps in one place. That alone makes it hard to beat, especially at this price. In my opinion, the value is far better than what I was getting before and I've really been loving it.

Cons

If I could change one thing, it would be to improve the virtual session experience a bit. It would help to give clients a few simple controls like adjusting the volume or screen size and maybe add a message showing who they're currently chatting with along with the practitioner's name. Just a small suggestion.

“Diverse set of features”

Pros

Using it has become more manageable the more I use it and learn my way around. I really appreciate how much it can handle and how many functions it offers to support a small practice.

Cons

there is only one chance to get one-on-one support from a real person. I am not very comfortable with computers so even with the tutorials, it is not always simple for me to figure everything out. I really valued the individual assistance I received and would gladly pay for more of that kind of help. I feel like that should be available as an option, especially for users who find the program more challenging to navigate.

“Large collection of training videos”

Pros

I find it simple to use. I really appreciated the free trial, the step-by-step setup prompts and the large collection of training videos and helpful information. It has made my move into private practice feel much more manageable and well supported.

Cons

Since I only used the free trial while preparing to begin private practice in January 2020, I have not had the chance to use it yet for everyday operations. One issue did come up with the initial paperwork I sent to a client, the client could not get back into the link to update insurance information. I had some trouble figuring out how to send that request again. I believe I was able to resend what he needed to log in and add the insurance details but I have not heard back from him yet to confirm that it worked.

“tutorial video for every section”

Pros

Getting intake forms, disclosures, releases and other paperwork out to clients electronically has been fantastic. There's a tutorial video for every section which really helps. Since this is my first time handling the business side while also working as a clinician, it has made the whole process as manageable as possible.

Cons

Up to this point, everything has gone well. Whenever I've needed help, I've been able to find a tutorial.

“Has potential”

Pros

The telehealth feature is a nice option and even though I haven't used it yet, I'm planning to.

Cons

Getting the hang of everything feels overwhelming and I really wish it were simpler to call customer service directly when support is needed. I'm not a fan of online chat since it feels complex and inefficient. There is an option to schedule a phone call but with a busy schedule, that's not very convenient for me.

“Helps me track clients”

Pros

having all my clients organized in one application was something I really appreciated with it. It made it much simpler to keep up with everyone and stay on top of the messages they sent.

Cons

I wasn't a fan of the program's "text messaging" style. I'd rather use something with more flexibility for overall program management and for tracking the progress of work with clients.

“Well suited for therapists”

Pros

It is simple to use and it feels thoughtfully built with psychotherapists in mind.

Cons

Something that trips me up is understanding how invoices connect to the amount billed and that part of the interface feels a bit complex.

“Customer service responds quickly”

Pros

Having integrated assessments, a client portal that can be added to my practice website, the Wiley Treatment Planner and built-in intake paperwork for new clients makes this software really useful. I also appreciate how quickly customer service responds when I need help. The training videos are excellent as well, especially for someone new to the platform like me.

Cons

Insurance billing doesn't feel very user-friendly at first though I enrolled in a class to learn more about how the billing side works.

“Fantastic online self-scheduling feature”

Pros

Everything about this platform feels user-friendly and the video tutorials plus live support were genuinely helpful whenever I needed guidance. Having billing, telehealth, scheduling and clinical notes all in one place made a big difference for me. The online self-scheduling feature is especially valuable and I'm confident it will help improve client follow-through with appointments.

Cons

Cost can feel a bit high once you add all the extra features like telehealth and scheduling, especially at $60 per month for a single user.

“Automation cuts down on extra work”

Pros

The whole system is paperless and automated which cuts down on so much extra work. Clients have all mentioned how fast and simple it is to sign forms and complete their demographic information. It has also removed a few tasks from my to-do list, especially things like appointment reminders being sent automatically. Since I'm relocating out of state and continuing to see clients through telehealth, this platform has been an ideal way to keep my practice secure, smooth and fully paperless.

Cons

customer support appears to be email-only and I would much prefer being able to speak with someone directly. I've also had trouble with the telehealth feature because my client and I sometimes can't connect even when we are both signed in. The system keeps showing a message saying it's waiting for the other person to log in, even though we are both already logged in.

Pros

It was quick and it has all the tools I need in one place. The platform feels user-friendly and simple to use which made the learning curve very manageable.

Cons

“Quick to launch”

Pros

Getting everything set up felt very simple and user-friendly and I had my practice running within a single day.

Cons

I do wish it were a bit more affordable, especially the fees for swiping clients' credit cards. Still, that's just part of the cost of doing business.
