“Client-friendly use”

Pros

Getting started with it is fairly simple and the tutorial videos really help. From the client side, it's also simple to use and navigate.

Cons

There are still a few features I wish were included like the ability to have multiple children connected under the same parent email in the system.

“Accessible from any device”

Pros

Being able to use the software conveniently on any laptop and also access it from a smartphone has been a big plus. I also appreciate that I can upload my own documents for clients to use or review instead of being limited to the built-in templates. Having several assessment and screening tools readily available is really helpful and creating notes and treatment plans feels very simple. I'm in the process of moving from paper charts to an electronic EHR and the transition has been fairly simple and not overly time-consuming. When I was first getting used to it, I reached out to customer support a couple of times and got quick responses with clear guidance that helped me fix the issues I was having. The community support is useful too, with a lot of helpful topics available.

Cons

there currently aren't fillable forms for clients to complete. I'm hoping that becomes available in the future. It would also be helpful if the calendar had an option to display only hourly time slots when entering new appointments, instead of having to scroll through the schedule minute by minute.

“Centralized everything”

Pros

Having my schedule, client details, notes, billing and receipts all in one place has been such a relief. I used to bounce between multiple documents and constantly update different files but now everything is centralized and much easier to manage. It has even made me more motivated to keep up with my notes because the whole process feels far less overwhelming.

Cons

Expense tracking is still missing. Managing a practice means keeping track of both income and expenses, especially when it comes to taxable income so it would make a lot of sense to have that built into the program.

“Functional tool”

Pros

It covers the features I need to run my small practice and feels very functional overall. I also really appreciate the trial pricing while I'm in the process of building up my private practice.

Cons

At first, the number of options made it a little hard to navigate but I got used to it pretty quickly.

“Saves a huge amount of time”

Pros

Using it has been a huge time-saver. The biggest reason I love it is how simple it is to use, everything you need is right there. Forms, notes, assessments and payment processing have cut my time in half compared to the software I used before. I'm genuinely impressed with it.

Cons

The only thing I might have wanted is a form for outside referrals but honestly, that's not really an issue.

“Professional-looking forms”

Pros

It felt very simple. The layout is simple to follow and there are plenty of forms available to use in my practice. It took a lot of the guesswork out of putting together professional-looking forms and setting up client charts. Being able to bill insurance directly from the software is something I really appreciate as well.

Cons

I honestly haven't run into any downsides at this point. I'm very happy with it.

“secure messaging is a plus”

Pros

The free trial gave me enough time to really explore the product before committing. Scheduling appointments and writing clinical notes in the calendar is simple and the template library includes a lot of helpful resources. Secure messaging is a big plus and having the option for video sessions is really useful. I also appreciate being able to stay paperless and the app has been helpful too.

Cons

Getting comfortable with the client portal was challenging for me. I still have trouble figuring out how to send documents to clients after the initial intake process. Since I had never handled billing before, the whole process felt overwhelming at first, especially understanding how to collect co-pays and manage that side of things. I hired a professional biller but I'm still learning how to use the billing software they work with and what exactly I need to monitor inside it.

“Brilliant reminder text feature”

Pros

Running my practice feels much more organized with it, especially because I can email intake forms to new clients and have them sign electronically. That gives us more of the first session to focus on what they need instead of spending time on paperwork. The reminder text feature has also been incredibly useful since it saves me from having to send those messages myself and cuts down on a lot of extra admin time.

Cons

At the beginning, getting used to it took a little time and the site felt somewhat complex to navigate. I was especially confused by the fact that documents and several other features are accessed through the settings page so it took a while to figure that out. Thankfully, the help option pointed me in the right direction. Aside from that initial learning curve, I really haven't run into any major downsides with the software.

“Connects well with my Google Calendar”

Pros

After trying several different companies over the past two months and using each one on a trial basis for at least a month, I ended up choosing it for a few key reasons. It syncs with my Google Calendar, the platform is simple to use and it includes Telehealth which was important to me. It does cost more than some of the other options I looked at. I'm still pretty new to it so time will tell if it lives up to what I'm expecting. At this point, the only real downside I've noticed is that there's no customer service by phone.

Cons

The lack of telephone support bothers me. Considering there's no phone customer service, the price feels higher than some competing options. The biggest reason I decided to go with it though, was its ability to sync with my Google Calendar.

“Customizable and well organized”

Pros

Compared with the other software options I explored, it was the one that appealed to me most because of how customizable the templates are. I already like the templates it comes with but being able to adjust or add small details to better match my professional needs makes it even more valuable. The platform feels organized, clean and simple to navigate. That has been especially helpful while I'm in the middle of opening my own private practice since I already have plenty of other programs and business tasks competing for my time and energy.

Cons

Nothing has really stood out as a drawback. I still need a bit more time to explore the program and test everything out.

“uncomplicated workflow”

Pros

Switching from another EHR made it really clear how much simpler this software is to use. Completing notes feels far less complicated which was exactly what I had been hoping for. One feature I really appreciate is being able to securely message clients and send homework or handouts they can print at home. I've uploaded all of my worksheets into it and after each client session, I send over their assignments right through the platform. It's also a huge plus that clients can schedule their own appointments and fill out all of their paperwork online.

Cons

I wish the software were more affordable.

“Ready-made templates for progress notes and assessments”

Pros

It has been very simple to use. The standout feature for me is the collection of ready-made templates for progress notes, assessments and similar documentation.

Cons

It took me a bit of time to learn where everything was located although I wouldn't really consider that a problem with the software itself.

4.0

“strong value for money”

Pros

Right away, it feels very user-friendly. Most of it is easy to use and even though it covers a wide range of tools like scheduling, billing, claims submission and creating progress notes and treatment plans, it does a solid job of helping you learn as you go. There is definitely a learning curve because of how much it offers but SP makes that easier with tons of tutorials, live training sessions where you can ask questions and a large Facebook community that shares helpful advice. All of that becomes a valuable resource for making your practice run better. It is also cost-effective and you really get a lot for what you pay which frees up more time and money to focus on caring for clients in other ways.

Cons

A few areas could still be improved though. Calendar scheduling could work better for testing psychologists who coordinate with psychometricians. It would also be helpful to have a built-in to-do or reminders list for managing the practice, along with integration for Wiley progress notes. Another missing piece is the ability to document and track potential clients and maintain a waiting list.

“Limiting medicaid workflow”

Pros

There's a lot to appreciate about this software overall. It's user friendly, the templates are simple to customize and setting up automatic emails and appointment reminders is very convenient. Adding new clients and insurance information is simple and having billing built into the EMR is a big plus. The free appointment reminders, patient portal access and auto-generated billing are especially useful features.

Cons

For an insurance and Medicaid based private practice though, it doesn't cover everything I need. There's no built-in way for clients to sign treatment plans and the treatment plan itself can't really be customized. The workaround is possible but it takes too many steps, creating a nonbillable treatment plan code, making an appointment, building a progress note template with a signature space, saving and locking the note, then printing it for the patient to sign. The diagnosis import feature is helpful but it doesn't let you include specifiers so if those are needed, you have to leave the diagnosis out and manually add a section for that in the progress note template. It also doesn't import the client's insurance ID information which is required on all Medicaid documentation so you have to add a separate spot in the template and keep leaving the note to look up that information. And while the templates do have a lot of customization options, reordering items within them is very time-consuming. Another significant downside is that billing administrator permissions can't be customized. If you want billing staff to have full access, they have to be assigned as clinicians which comes with a substantial extra cost.

“Comprehensive HIPAA-compliant system”

Pros

I enjoy using it which is exactly why I chose to keep using it after the free trial. Being able to customize intake forms and initial paperwork is a big plus. It also lets patients request or book appointments through my website and I can message them or meet by telehealth all within the same HIPAA-compliant system. On top of that, it automatically sends billing statements and superbills and I can accept payments directly through the EHR. Nearly everything in it can be tailored to fit my workflow and it's very user-friendly. Having all of these tools in one place, especially the auto-generated superbills, is going to save me a huge amount of time.

Cons

I wish it included an eFax feature built directly into the EHR. Sharing notes with other members of a patient's care team is very important in my work. If I could send a progress note to a patient's MD or PsyD in just a few clicks, I'd honestly consider it a perfect platform. Until that's added, I still think it's an excellent system.
