“Lifesaver for a growing practice”

Pros

Starting our small practice would have taken a lot more time and effort without it. It really made the launch process much faster and far more manageable for us.

Cons

The difference between the Basic and Professional plans is a little confusing. It wasn't very clear which features came with each version so I more or less guessed that we should go with Professional and I'm still not convinced it actually made a difference.

“Cuts down on clutter”

Pros

Having everything together in one place, my calendar, notes, receipts and paperwork, has made a big difference. It keeps my practice organized, cuts down on clutter and helps me work much more efficiently.

Cons

Switching over to a new platform definitely took some effort. After years of using paper notes and handling receipts manually, getting everything set up online required time and energy. There were moments when it felt frustrating but once I got past that learning curve, I was really happy I made the change. My biggest issue was support availability since I couldn't just call a help center right away. I had to book an appointment and finding a time that fit my schedule was difficult.

“Can send forms by email”

Pros

All of my client information is brought together in one place which has been really helpful and sending forms by email while keeping track of notes is very convenient.

Cons

there's no contact number available when questions come up and I want to speak with someone directly for troubleshooting. I also don't like that Square isn't an option for billing and if I want to process payments through the software, I'm required to use Stripe.

“brilliant treatment plan templates”

Pros

The progress note and treatment plan templates are really helpful and the built-in reminders make it easier to keep up with anything that still needs to be completed. It's also useful to have the option to send email or text reminders and send invoices when needed.

Cons

I wish there were a way to send more general email communication through the platform. Creating my own assessment forms has also been a bit challenging and I'd really like the option to add notes for clients I haven't seen yet like phone call records, without having to enter all of their information first.

“Saves me so much time”

Pros

The automatic delivery of intake documents has been fantastic. It saves me a huge amount of time that I can now put toward preparing for sessions or working directly with clients.

Cons

Overall, I'm very happy with it but if I had to point out one thing, the initial setup could be clearer. I had to spend quite a bit of time reading through information and exploring the system to understand where to begin and what steps to take. In the end though, the upfront effort was worth it.

“Telehealth runs flawlessly”

Pros

There's a lot this platform gets right. Telehealth runs without any headaches and the booking widget is a nice touch since it can be added directly to a website. Writing notes feels user-friendly and the option to import custom templates is top tier. The integrated Swipe payments make it simple to collect fees and the ability to customize intake forms and decide exactly which ones get sent out is fantastic.

Cons

Getting used to where certain settings and documents are located does take some time. Things like editing documents in the client portal or updating practice details such as the office address, are not always obvious at first. Once you learn where everything lives, it works fine but it definitely takes a while to move around the different screens quickly.

“Time and money saved”

Pros

Within the first week of using it, it's already cutting down the time I spend on weekly billing. It should also save me money over time since I can cancel both my appointment scheduling software and my video counseling subscription. Definitely a time and cost saver.

Cons

There have been a few moments where adding new clients could have been more organized. I entered all the information and clicked save but later it told me some items were still missing.

“full-featured platform”

Pros

Running a practice feels much more manageable with this all-in-one, full-featured platform. It covers everything from scheduling and billing/payments to documentation and record keeping so there is very little need for extra tools. The pricing feels very fair for how much is included and the system is friendly for both providers and clients. Clients can book their own sessions through the portal without much trouble. It also comes with standard templates for intake and consent forms, reports, progress notes and psychotherapy notes and those forms can be customized when needed. The autopay feature is especially helpful since clients can be charged automatically after sessions which takes pressure off both sides and helps make sure payments are actually collected. It really feels like SimplePractice has considered nearly every part of the workflow.

Cons

Scheduling works very well overall but it gets less convenient when more specific scheduling requests come up. Providers still have to step in manually for certain adjustments, especially with recurring appointments. For example, the system does not automatically account for days off or catch double bookings when a recurring appointment is being set up.

“Feels natural for new users”

Pros

it felt very natural, especially as a new user. After switching over from another clinical software, Titanium, that I used in a previous job, this one came across as much more user-friendly and easier to navigate.

Cons

I haven't run into any issues.

“Accomodating staff”

Pros

Right away, the clean layout and user-friendly feel of the program really impressed me. Whenever I needed help, the staff was accommodating and supportive. I'm still learning a lot about insurance and billing so the online materials and videos have been especially helpful.

Cons

At this point, I haven't really identified any downsides yet. I did notice that

“All-in-one practice hub”

Pros

Having everything in one platform is a big plus since it lets me manage all the key parts of my private practice in a single place.

Cons

One thing that would make it even better is the ability to set up waiting rooms for clients before their appointment times.

“handles intake forms, appointment scheduling, client session notes”

Pros

It has everything needed to manage a successful practice in one place. I can handle intake forms, appointment scheduling, client session notes, telehealth video calls and even connect Stripe for invoicing and billing. The whole workflow feels smooth and it's a big plus that clients can use the service without having to download anything.

Cons

A few features aren't immediately user-friendly and can take a little time to learn.

“highly functional”

Pros

The standout for me was how user-friendly and functional it is. Everything is laid out in a way that makes sense. I haven't even needed to reach out to customer support yet because the site is built so well and is simple to navigate.

Cons

A small issue came up when I was trying to find the section where I could create my own note templates. It took a bit of digging around but after searching for a while, I was able to locate it.

“Missing transfer workflow”

Pros

This platform is simple to use and includes the state-required documentation.

Cons

Not being able to transfer records from a group setup to an individual one is pretty frustrating. The manual workaround they provide is also incomplete which makes it worse. Since this is your own company's system and not some third-party tool, that gap feels poorly thought out, especially because supervision arrangements don't last forever.

“Nothing comes close”

Pros

Compared with other practice management platforms I've used, it stands out for having all the features you'd expect while being much more user-friendly. The other systems really don't come close. I'm very happy with it, especially how simple it is to send documents directly to clients instead of having to email everything manually.

Cons

The only drawback is the price although it's pretty much in line with other platforms.

“client portal cuts down on admin time”

Pros

It covers the whole workflow for me, from intake and scheduling to EMR and billing. The layout is clean and user-friendly and the client portal cuts down on admin time by handling intake forms and scheduling efficiently. On top of that, the support team is quick to respond whenever help is needed.

Cons

Some areas, especially the client information screens, could be laid out more compactly so there's less scrolling and more details visible at once.

“Steady updates”

Pros

Getting started with it feels very simple and whenever questions come up, the customer support team is knowledgeable and available. They also seem very open to feedback and are regularly updating the product.

Cons

it does let you build your own documents but there are still a few options missing at the moment such as an "if so" feature. That said, I've already been told they're working on adding it.
