“Great for billing, practice management and clinical documentation”

Pros

The EMR works really well from the front end and feels very user-friendly for billing, practice management and clinical documentation.

Cons

Creating customized templates for my specific practice is not very user-friendly. It could be more user-friendly when it comes to template building, especially for a larger outpatient setting.

“Would recommend it”

Pros

Right from the start, this software felt built for everyday users. It's very simple to navigate and picking up new steps doesn't take much effort at all. The customer service has also been outstanding, they guide you through anything you need help with. I would absolutely recommend it for office billing needs.

Cons

I haven't come across any real drawbacks.

“Packed with everything needed”

Pros

From the patient demographics screen all the way to reporting, it really covers everything. There are honestly too many positives to list because it has pretty much all the features I need.

Cons

There are no downsides to it.

“Price hikes are an issue”

Pros

It comes with a lot of functionality, including batch processing solid reporting and cloud-based access. Handling multiple users and accounts is simple and the visual billing performance scales are genuinely helpful.

Cons

Unexpected price increases can create major problems, especially for a small practice. Customer service for existing clients is really poor compared with what new clients seem to get and tech support takes far too long to respond.

“Rising costs”

Pros

At best, the EHR feels fairly user-friendly and honestly that is the only real advantage I can point to. I began using it back when it was free and that still feels about right for what it offers. The functionality is very limited and support is practically nonexistent.

Cons

Despite being advertised as fully certified for meaningful use, that has not been the case and they have not stayed current with it lately. Support has gone downhill even while the price keeps increasing. Now they mostly send support articles by email and then charge extra for what they call "expert guidance." The EHR itself is complex and full of bugs, notes often fail to save and pricing changes happen without any notice.

“Useful cloud access”

Pros

Having a cloud-based system is really useful because multiple people in the office can be in the program and work at the same time. The customer support has been excellent and the training has been very helpful as well. The videos and step-by-step instructions make it much easier to understand how to do things.

Cons

Getting comfortable with the payments side has been a little challenging and moving insurance information from the old system into the new one hasn't been very simple.

“Held our site hostage”

Pros

It has been a terrible experience overall.

Cons

Once they completely blindsided us, they basically held everything we had built before working with them for ransom, telling us, "If you pay X amount of dollars, we'll give your site and ownership back." It felt like dealing with outright thieves. Please don't get tricked the way we were.

“Bright design and user-friendly charts”

Pros

The bright and colorful design made a good impression. Once inside the chart, navigation feels very simple to follow. I've only recently started using the product so there's still a lot for me to learn but up to this point it has been really good.

Cons

While writing a note, I accidentally deleted a section and had to redo it because there was no way to recover it. An autosave feature would be really helpful.

“Solid value”

Pros

It delivers solid service for a fair price and it works nicely with WebPT which helps keep everything to a single entry.

Cons

Getting everything set up was difficult and customer support has been hard to reach and work with. I suspect part of the issue is the time difference since we're on the East Coast and Kareo is based on the West Coast.

“Insurance checks are convenient”

Pros

Getting comfortable with the software doesn't take long and using it day to day is pretty simple. Verifying a patient's insurance is simple and being able to save that verification each time is really helpful.

Cons

Applying credits to a different service line or another date of service isn't very simple. Clearinghouse rejections also don't always give a clear reason for the denial which makes them harder to fix. On the charting side, it doesn't auto-save and if you don't finish quickly enough, the system can log you out and you lose everything you already entered.

“Wonderful practice management tools”

Pros

It's a strong value, especially for a practice that's just getting started. The practice management tools are simple and the training tutorials are very helpful. My sales rep, Don Yates, was also a big part of why I decided to go with this product.

Cons

Customer support takes too long to get back to you. Meanwhile, other EHR systems I've been considering seem to keep improving, while the suggestions I've shared here in the past never really seem to get addressed.

“Quick to learn and use”

Pros

It didn't take long to learn it. It was simple to understand and I was able to pick up the features pretty quickly and feel confident using them.

Cons

There were times when the online help wasn't all that helpful. I'd type in a specific question and end up getting a very broad answer instead.

“Handy text shortcut features”

Pros

Using it day to day feels very simple. The text shortcut features are excellent and loading a template to start a note is quick and convenient.

Cons

It would be better with more template categories, especially for therapy and rehabilitation. Printing notes is also frustrating because they have to be printed one at a time. A batch-printing option for multiple notes would save a lot of time and make it much easier to prepare the chart at the end of a treatment course.

“Frustrating scheduling side”

Pros

Starting a new role meant I had to teach myself how to use it and as a first-time user, I was able to get around the system without much trouble.

Cons

Scheduling in it was frustrating because the calendar view made it hard to create appointments, especially with how much space the existing patients took up on the screen. On top of that, whenever I cancel an appointment, an advertisement pops up immediately and keeps me from navigating away.

“Worth the money”

Pros

This system has been a really solid choice for us. It was quick to learn, works well for billing alongside WebPT and the pricing feels very reasonable.

Cons

the toll-free number isn't available in our area. I'd also love to see a weekly sales report added if that's possible.

“Polished website and smart updates”

Pros

Their attention to detail really shows and our website ends up looking polished and professional. It's also a big help that they push updates to our information across multiple web platforms so when something changes, it only has to be updated once.

Cons

The calendar booking feature seems better suited to a smaller practice. Since we have 15 providers, the calendar doesn't really work well for the way our business operates.

“All-in-one dashboard”

Pros

Everything is centralized in one dashboard and it's very simple to use whether I'm on my phone, computer or iPad across different locations.

Cons

Appointments can't be loaded directly into the EMR so the team has to enter them manually which ends up taking a lot of staff time at the clinic.

“Convenient patient scheduling”

Pros

Patients have mentioned that this software is convenient to use on a computer and makes booking appointments simple.

Cons

it still doesn't connect with the charting system at the current price. As a small business, I really don't want to pay extra for something that feels like it should already be included.

“Simple for staff and patients”

Pros

Our patients have had a really simple time using it which has made the overall experience better for both them and our staff. Keeping track of patient appointments is also very helpful and the Search Engine Optimization support has been a nice benefit for visibility.

Cons

It does not work with our software unless we pay higher monthly fees per physician. Another issue is the new patient and appointment request sections since they do not require people to complete all fields before moving to the next step. Because of that, patients often submit incomplete information and we still have to call them to gather the missing details before scheduling the appointment which our software requires.
