PTO approvals worked well

Pros

Well the PTO approval process worked well. Supervisors were meant to handle it but our Office Manager could step in as a backup whenever they forgot.

Cons

Reporting was very hard to work with. We only have around 50 employees and since most of them are exempt, timesheets were not really necessary. The system also came with a lot of extra features that we never ended up using.

online tools with upgraded clocks

Pros

The online capabilities looked like they would really help our company and the time clocks seemed like a solid upgrade from what we were using before.

Cons

Customer service was inconsistent, there were occasions when paychecks didn't show up on time and the cost just didn't feel justified given all the trouble.

solid OKRs and 1:1s

Pros

There's real potential here as an all-in-one performance management platform for companies that follow the OKR model. It brings together OKRs, 1:1s, recognition and surveys in one place and the action items within 1:1s are especially useful.

Cons

A few gaps keep it from feeling fully complete. It would help a lot to recognize teams instead of only individual employees and to track initiatives as a layer underneath OKRs. More guidance or training on how to manage OKRs in 7Geese for effective companywide adoption would also be very valuable. The survey tool is limited because feedback requests can only be sent by a specific user instead of from the company which sometimes creates confusion. The feedback feature also doesn't support ranking-style questions. On top of that, action items from 1:1s don't integrate with Google Calendar so deadlines can't be added directly to someone's calendar.

Best platform for performance goals

Pros

It covers a lot of what we need to manage company performance better, including OKRs, recognition, 1:1s and feedback. The platform feels lean and simple to use and the support from our account manager has been excellent. I've recommended 7geese to several HR peers.

Cons

I'd love to see stronger syncing with BambooHR since things like departments don't transfer over correctly right now. It would also help to have better education and more case studies around the company review cycles feature because we haven't really been able to use that part to its full potential yet.

Slack recognition boosted engagement

Pros

Across all of its core features, the tools for organizing and managing company-wide engagement were useful but the standout for us was the Slack recognition integration. We had a hard time regularly giving public recognition to individual employees for their efforts. With this tool, everyone could recognize people much more easily and it also made sure that recognition was tied back to company values. Because of that, we saw a big increase in shout-outs for employees who might otherwise be overlooked which helped drive stronger engagement overall.

Cons

Rolling out OKRs across the full organization and individual teams was challenging at times. Since the platform lets you nest OKRs and connect them up and down the organization, we ended up creating far too many of them. That made it difficult to dig through everything and get a clear picture of how the company was actually progressing. It's a very powerful system but I'd recommend that companies new to it start simple and build gradually instead of launching company-wide, department-level and team-level OKRs all at once.

Strong goals tracking features

Pros

Objective setting and progress tracking has been the standout feature for me. The foundation for 1:1s is decent too although it still feels like that part needs more development.

Cons

At a personal level, the tool works well enough but it doesn't really consolidate or surface the bigger picture of what's happening around you. That may be by design but for the way I use it, I'd really like more control over what appears on my dashboard and even on pages like objectives. For instance, if people on my team want to look at our department objectives without being directly tied to them, they have to dig pretty far into the system to find that information. There isn't really a good way to keep those goals visible and top of mind for them, aside from maybe relying on annoying email subscriptions. If there's already a feature for this, I'd honestly be happy to be corrected.

frustrating OKR navigation

Pros

Having all of the organization's OKRs in one system is the strongest part. That said, it becomes nearly impossible to navigate unless you build a very elaborate coding system to manage the huge number of KRs that get created so you never really get the advantage of everything being centralized.

Cons

In theory, keeping all OKRs in one place should make it possible to track progress against goals across the organization especially with something like a master dashboard showing the status of every project or at least a sensible default view instead of that oversized, absurd goose display. Instead, the product feels designed to make navigation harder at every step. The lag is awful so switching views takes far too long to load. It always defaults to personal OKRs even when there are none and you repeatedly have to type in the teams you use most because you can only belong to one team at a time. Looking back at all the check-ins on a KR is also unnecessarily hard since they are grouped together and split across pages. There are so many parts of the system that feel illogical and actually get in the way of understanding what's happening. A lot of our teams have ended up going back to spreadsheets. Honestly, I miss my Excel dashboard, where I could tell at a glance which KRs needed attention.

Makes performance management transparent

Pros

Using this product has been a really positive experience. It makes performance management very transparent and it's simple to work with from both the admin side and the employee side. I also really appreciate how objectives connect with one another, starting at the personal level, then linking to departmental goals and finally to broader business objectives. That structure gives each objective a clear sense of purpose. I'd definitely be interested in moving to an OKRs model down the line although our business isn't quite at that stage yet.

Cons

I can't think of anything about the system that feels frustrating. Compared with other HR platforms we use, 7Geese has been very simple to manage and maintain as an admin. If anything, over time it could be expanded further to cover onboarding, training and other important stages of the employee lifecycle so it could eventually become more of an all-in-one platform.

failed setup due to absent service

Pros

We never got the chance to actually use it because the company was unable to install the products the way they promised.

Cons

Customer service was seriously lacking, the support team did not follow through on getting the system set up, key parts of the software were missing and requests for help often went unanswered.

Layout feels familiar

Pros

The layout feels fairly familiar for team members, almost like Facebook which makes it approachable to use. It also offers a decent level of customization at times and the 1:1 meeting formats work really well.

Cons

Setting up KPIs or job tracking takes much longer than it should and that part of the platform doesn't feel very user-friendly. Because of that, we hardly use this much-needed feature in our business. The online tutorials are also very limited so you end up figuring out a lot on your own and then having to train others which is pretty time-consuming.

Fast okr alignment and engagement

Pros

Getting Objectives and Key Results up and running with it is quick and efficient. It also ties into Performance Reviews and other feedback tools which helps create a more complete system for connecting business goals with employee alignment and engagement. The platform is simple to use and the interface feels quick and responsive.

Cons

OKRs are a strong framework for goal-setting and team alignment but initiatives, the strategic actions needed to achieve each objective, also need to be clearly understood and monitored. That's something 7Geese doesn't really support yet. If it added that capability, it would be very close to perfect. Better point-in-time reporting for OKRs would also help especially for creating more traditional static monthly status reports.

Company-wide visibility

Pros

It gives a clear view across the whole company.

Cons

The reporting features are basically missing. It would be much more useful if we could pull up someone's feedback review results for the entire year and see a combined score. Right now, my team has to handle that manually and it's a real headache.

Appreciate the Recognition Center

Pros

I really appreciate how the Recognition Center matches my company's ethics categories and makes it visible to everyone when coworkers, teammates or people from other departments are going above and beyond. It really helps create a culture of gratitude and that makes a big difference in keeping teams connected and cohesive.

Cons

Some of my colleagues are much less comfortable using it which creates some friction at the start of reporting periods. That said, once everything is in place, I do appreciate that the alignment rolls up to my manager so when I check in on child objectives, my manager gets notified and can track our team's progress toward department goals.

incredible employee recognition feature

Pros

Getting employees into the system, updating their details or removing them is very simple. The employee recognition feature is also simple to use and I especially enjoyed that other people can comment on the recognition someone receives.

Cons

The information I enter for my performance is visible to others. I see that as something I should be working through privately with my manager. I'd also like to have a schematic or visual guide for all of the dropdown windows.

Pros

I absolutely love how it brings together several key development processes like 1:1s, feedback and recognition, in one place and makes everything visible across the organization.

Clear goal alignment and open communication

Pros

Our team gets the most value from the OKRs and 1:1 features. They've been a really effective way to reinforce a transparent culture through clear goal alignment and open communication. The Slack integration is another big plus since people enjoy using it for quick OKR check-ins and recognition. The global templates for 1:1s and feedback have also been especially useful, particularly for newer people leaders. Overall, the platform has helped us improve how we handle ongoing performance conversations and build a stronger coaching culture.

Cons

I'd really like to see a smarter way to edit 1:1 templates. Right now, if a template needs to be changed, we have to cancel all upcoming 1:1s and reschedule them which creates a flood of email notifications and extra work. It would be much better to have the ability to dynamically add or remove questions starting on a future date. Since I rotate questions almost every week, the current template setup ends up being more limiting than helpful and I've had to manage it manually instead.

Useful 1-on-1 feature

Pros

Something that has worked really well for us is the way we can set up company-wide OKRs and then have employees build their own goals around them. It keeps everyone aware of the organization's priorities and makes it much clearer whether individual focus areas actually match the broader direction. The 1-on-1 feature is also very useful because it lets us review an employee's OKR progress during meetings, give specific feedback and quickly look back at notes from earlier conversations.

Cons

The reviews area feels a little complex to use. It can be difficult to move through the reviews that have been sent especially when the naming structure is not immediately clear and there is no option to archive older reviews. Because of that, we end up sorting through a long list of review groups every time.

Highly professional team

Pros

Keeping our global goals aligned across QS has been one of the biggest strengths. With such a large international team, it really matters that everyone is moving in the same direction and the platform does that extremely well. The recognition feature has also been outstanding for giving kudos to teammates anywhere in the world. Especially with remote work, having a way to say thank you so easily has been incredibly valuable. The onboarding process was fantastic too, the team was highly professional and clearly passionate about their work. They provided plenty of simple training materials along with hands-on support to help make the implementation successful. After more than a year of using it, the results in our Business Unit were strong enough that we rolled the platform out across our global organization.

Cons

This platform has continued to improve over time and their team genuinely seems to listen to feedback when shaping their roadmap. The main thing I'd still like to see is support for multiple managers for a single employee since we operate in a matrix-style organization. Aside from that, I think the platform is fantastic.

improved OKR management for us

Pros

Switching to it was mainly about improving how we manage OKRs and it has been a really strong fit for that. The OKR workflow is dynamic, functional and overall very simple to use. There are a couple of things that could make reporting easier but for the most part it handles the process well. I also use 7Geese to manage my 1:1 agendas and it works as a simple organized way for both managers and team members to track discussion points and meeting notes. The feedback feature is useful too since you can choose from pre-built templates or create your own. I use that for weekly updates from my team. The only thing I'd add there is the ability to schedule it automatically and send reminders to people who haven't completed it yet. Aside from that, it's a very helpful tool for collecting feedback and replying within the platform. The review process feels a bit complex but it has improved quite a bit over the past year. Since we prefer doing 360s, it can be tricky because that functionality isn't built in so you have to piece it together with review forms and feedback forms. On the positive side, the support team is very responsive, the training videos are helpful and overall I really enjoy using 7Geese.

Cons

Reviews still feel complex especially since there isn't a simple built-in way to run 360 reviews.

Well-documented conversations

Pros

It keeps our leaders on track with consistent, well-documented conversations. It prompts both people involved to add notes which really helps create a complete record of how the meeting went and what was discussed. The review process is excellent for annual reviews and makes the whole experience much more manageable. We also use the feedback feature all the time for surveys and anonymous input and it has been incredibly useful.

Cons

There are still a few areas where some functions could be improved but it has been very responsive to the feedback I've shared and is clearly working hard to keep improving the software.
