central hub for personal records

Pros

It gives users a single place to handle and keep track of their personal records which makes things much more convenient.

Cons

It would be better with more customizable features and quicker access to reports right at your fingertips.

Great ease of use

Pros

Using it has been simple and the way it connects with the benefits package works really well.

Cons

I'd still like to see more stock reports available and the report writer could definitely be more user-friendly.

Satisfied user

Pros

Compared with other payroll tools I've used before, this one feels much less complicated and a lot more simple to work with.

Cons

I really don't have any complaints about the system. I'm very satisfied with it.

Covers all the functions I need

Pros

Running HR through this tool has been a big help for our organization because it covers so many functions in one place. It has worked well for everything from bringing on temporary employees for specific projects to managing permanent staff. I can quickly access each employee's personal information whenever I need it. Payroll has also become much simpler to calculate since that feature is built right into it. I also appreciate being able to view pay rates, time tracking, benefits and related details all together on a single screen.

Cons

I noticed that the mobile app interface looks a bit different from the desktop version. It does not affect how the software works at all. I just personally prefer using Paycor on my computer, mostly because a larger screen feels better for handling things like payroll.

Helpful templates

Pros

Even for people who aren't recruiters, the system is simple to use. The templates are helpful, applying is simple for candidates and the dashboard is clear and easy to read for everyone involved.

Cons

Back when I was using Newton, I really didn't run into any problems. The only gap was that the CRM basically wasn't there at the time although we were told texting and a stronger CRM were being worked on. More recently though, I was disappointed by how unresponsive they were, they never returned my call, even though I had been a big supporter.

worker portal with helpful pay details

Pros

The worker portal has a very user-friendly layout. Employees can quickly access their check stubs, review a full breakdown of pay and deductions and also look over their benefits without any hassle.

Cons

Employees have to log in again every single time they open the app. It doesn't keep them signed in and it also won't let autocomplete enter their login details.

impossible to get in touch with the team

Pros

Running payroll works well on this platform. It's simple to review payroll, process it and add contributions and deductions. That part of the system is very solid.

Cons

Customer service is where things really fall apart. It's almost impossible to get in touch with my HR representative when I need help and even when I do manage to reach her, there's usually no follow-up. I end up having to keep reaching out just to get updates and sometimes the issue never gets fully resolved. On top of that, the system has recurring "intermittent bugs" that still haven't been fixed like tax forms not being available to employees during onboarding. It makes me question why I'm paying for the onboarding feature when I still have to handle onboarding manually. The reporting application also runs into bugs on a regular basis.

No complaints

Pros

From an employee perspective, I honestly don't have much to complain about. Having access to all of my pay stubs for the year and my W-2 in one place is really useful. I also appreciate being able to sign in from my personal computer whenever I need to. My favorite feature though, is the calendar view for checking hours instead of only seeing a standard timecard layout. It lets me watch my cumulative hours build throughout the week which makes it really simple to know when I've finished my hours.

Cons

Nothing major comes to mind and overall I really don't have any real complaints. If I had to point out one very small issue, it would be that the system sometimes logs me out a little too fast so I end up having to sign back in.

Friendly and accurate

Pros

Keeping track of my hourly time from my phone is really convenient and the system is user-friendly while still giving accurate data.

Cons

Updates can be slow sometimes and there's no touch option to clock in or out. It would also be better if it went straight to the time card screen.

Lets me pull up paystubs in no time

Pros

Having everything in one place has been really convenient. I can pull up paystubs and W-2s by year in no time whenever I need them. I can't really speak to how it works on the finance or payroll processing side but from the user side it's been very simple. There's also an app which honestly makes payday even better.

Cons

From a user perspective, I really can't think of any downsides. It's very simple to use and makes accessing or downloading the files I need hassle-free.

shows the number of hours I need to work

Pros

Using the desktop app, adding or removing time and attendance entries felt simple and it made it easy to keep an eye on how many hours I still needed for the week.

Cons

The mobile app was frustrating because it made it hard to view a clear layout of my weekly time and attendance. On top of that, my HR department mentioned that working with the Paycor service team was difficult.

Easy to teach

Pros

Training on this tracking system is very simple and it's just as simple to teach to others. I've worked with several systems before and none of them have felt as user-friendly as Newton.

Cons

There have been a handful of times when the system went down and the issue wasn't resolved very quickly.

Wonderful team and pricing

Pros

Before switching, we were relying on Indeed and a few other online hiring tools but finding it really changed things for the better. Since then, the experience has been excellent. Their team is wonderful to work with and is willing to handle just about anything you need, as long as it's reasonable. Honestly, I don't have any complaints about the service at all. The pricing is excellent too.

Cons

The only thing on my mind is that they were acquired by Paycor. It's not something I dislike at this point but I do wonder whether the level of service or control might change over time. That said, we're still very early in that transition.

Dated design

Pros

Something that works well is having all of my employee information in one place. I can quickly pull up their schedule, see how many hours they've worked, check their current pay and view how long they've been employed.

Cons

time and attendance part of Paycor is the section I enjoy the least. It runs slowly, feels like it was designed back in the 90s and it's not very user-friendly. Even small updates take way too many clicks to get done.

Good experience overall

Pros

Using it's Time and Attendance system has been a good experience because it's very user friendly. Employees can clock in and out from either their phone or their computer which makes it really convenient.

Cons

An area where the system falls short is with unlimited time off policies. It seems to work much better for traditional paid time off plans or accrual-based policies. If you try to use it for an unlimited policy, it still functions but it ends up showing a negative balance.

Customer service is disappointing

Pros

It was somewhat helpful having all of the payroll details kept in one place although that isn't really something that sets this software apart from others.

Cons

The customer support was terrible. At one point I forgot my password and ended up essentially locked out of my entire account and getting anyone to help with a reset was incredibly difficult. In the end, support still couldn't resolve it. I was left trying different password and email combinations again and again until I finally managed to get in on my own. It was extremely frustrating that something so simple became that hard especially when they already have enough personal information to confirm your identity and help restore access.

awesome newsfeed feature

Pros

Having everything I need right in one dashboard is really convenient. I can download applicant resumes directly from their Newton profile which saves time and the newsfeed feature makes it simple to follow the full history of each candidate throughout the hiring process.

Cons

Access control around the red "inactivate this candidate" button needs improvement. Too many internal users can use it and that has led to problems when someone clicks it by mistake.

Impressive range of functionality

Pros

It has given me access to almost everything I need from a company payroll platform. I can pull up a lot of important information quickly whenever I need it, including older pay stubs, benefit changes, W-2 filing options and more. Overall, it's a very solid product, it has been dependable and it offers an impressive range of functionality.

Cons

That said like a lot of work software some parts of the program feel a bit complex. It's not always clear how to navigate to certain sections or find specific features. It's not a huge burden by any stretch but it does create occasional frustration. On top of that, it regularly prompts me to complete 2-step verification to confirm my network and computer. While that definitely adds security, it can also get a little irritating from time to time.

Keeps employee records current

Pros

We rely on several parts of the platform, including payroll, benefits enrollment, time and attendance and reporting. Overall, they've all been useful, even if some features work better than others. For payroll runs and bringing on new hires, Paycor has been a really strong solution. When someone new joins, I only need to enter their name and email to get the onboarding started. Since moving to this process, our employee records have stayed more current and accurate and it has also cut down a lot on the time we used to spend on manual data entry.

Cons

The areas that still need work for us are time and attendance and customer support. Our time and attendance setup is a bit unconventional which creates confusion and leads to extra manual entry. And while I can usually reach support fairly quickly, actually explaining the issue and getting it fixed often takes multiple emails and can drag on for days or even weeks. On top of that, having assigned tech support has felt more inconvenient than helpful. Quite often our specific contact isn't available and with the amount of turnover, having dedicated team members ends up feeling unnecessary.

Tidy interface

Pros

Right from onboarding, it feels very simple to use. It offers a range of helpful tools for managing timesheets, viewing company documents, checking benefits and more. The interface is clean and getting around the system stays simple throughout employment.

Cons

Time-off area gives me trouble . Making changes, cancellations or adjustments to requested time off is frustrating and when I make a mistake, I usually have to delete the PTO request and submit it all over again.
