Custom reports made convenient with BI

Pros

I like BI reporting! I'm still learning all its features but creating custom reports, alerts and dashboards feels really convenient. It's made our processes much more organized. The electronic HR files feature is another standout. Being able to sort by section has been so useful, especially during audits. When our compliance officer needs specific parts of an employee's file while on-site with an auditor, I can quickly pull up what they need from Admin and share just those sections. Having everything electronic has saved us so much time!

Cons

I'm a bit disappointed with the Recruiting Gateway's functionality. This module isn't as user friendly as the others we use, which really limits our recruiting capabilities. For instance, you can't post positions internally only and even when selecting that option, jobs still appear externally too. We also wanted our UltiPro application to match our paper version but discovered it's impossible to replicate exactly, so candidates end up filling out two seperate applications. The data capture for recruiting metrics is lacking as well. I'd love to see proper reporting for things like vacancy rates and time to fill. Hopefully we'll see some improvements in future updates!

BI feature is a bit complicated

Pros

The interface is logical and clean. Both administrators and regular users find it user-friendly without much of a learning curve. Training materials are top-notch and actually helpful.

Cons

The onboarding process feels pretty limited and there aren't enough customization options in some areas. When it comes to selecting packages and working with table joins, it's definitely more complicated compared to other BI tools I've used.

Flawless integration with external vendors

Pros

Quite user-friendly for both staff and admins. Feels easy to use. What I appreciate most is having everything from hiring to retirement centralized in one system, plus the perfect integration with external vendors like benefits providers. This has organized our operations significantly, cutting out tons of paperwork through smart automation. The development team constantly enhances the platform with new features at no extra charge and they genuinely listen to user feedback to make meaningful improvements.

Cons

Support quality varies quite a bit especially for the Benefits Prime module since most of that gets handled by PlanSource rather than in-house. That said, the account management team is usually pretty responsive and genuinely seems to care about helping us out.

Pleased with the overall performance

Pros

It is really simple to understand. This tool helps me accomplish quite a bit in my daily workflow. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with what it offers.

Cons

While the flexibility in configuration is nice, it can get overwhelming and create issues. Customer service starts strong and they're usually great on that first call. But if you need follow-up support, things go downhill fast. I suspect their team gets judged on initial response times rather than actually solving problems. My tip: make sure everything gets resolved on that first call because getting help afterwards can be a real pain.

Full marks for this software!

Pros

Customer service here is absolutely outstanding. Whenever I've needed help quickly, their agents have been responsive and take the time to walk me through everything step-by-step so I can handle it myself next time or train others. They offer tons of useful tools for full-time hiring and really guide you through implementation and usage. When we rolled out their recruiting module to manage our hiring process, they helped us evaluate if it was the right fit and set realistic timelines. We got assigned a dedicated implementation specialist who made the whole setup process smooth. I'd definitely recommend this platform as it's been a 10/10 experience for us!

Cons

Would appreciate more options for hiring part-time staff.

slow support and broken time features

Pros

The interface is pretty logical and doesn't take long to figure out. Navigating through CORE feels natural and running payroll is not an issue. Even making adjustments to paychecks is simple enough.

Cons

Case management is frustratingly slow. Issues drag on way too long and some get closed before they're actually resolved. Customer support is inconsistent too. You'll get one answer from someone, then call back and hear something completely different. Sometimes I'm stuck on the phone for an hour trying to fix something that should take minutes. The PTO system is complex and needs a major overhaul. There are way too many moving parts when setting up shifts and time-off plans. It really needs to be simplified. CORE and Time Management don't communicate with each other either. For hourly employees on shifts, the Co-efficient Lookback feature just doesn't work at all and everything has to be calculated manually. The retro pay feature is also broken for these workers. After almost three years, we're finally getting the bugs sorted out and fixing all the PTO balances and deductions that weren't set up right during implementation.

Helped us get rid of paperwork

Pros

I really appreciate being able to store everything digitally. The whole process flows smoothly from recruiting through onboarding and once hiring is complete, all documents automatically transfer to the core system. This has eliminated tons of paperwork we used to deal with and candidates can sign their hire agreements immediately without needing to visit our office.

Cons

The FMLA and Workers Comp tracking could be way better. Right now I have to change statuses here but then use our own tracking system that doesn't always work great. Also really frustrating that you can't future date life events. And I hate that I can't delete the most recent history line or remove employees who got hired but never actually started, always ends up being a help desk ticket.

Saves a lot of time on payrolls

Pros

I find it easy to use software with great features. We're cutting down significantly on time when handling our bi-weekly payrolls. Our field payroll processors are really happy with it as well.

Cons

Going into the back office for certain tasks eats up more time than I'd like. Really hoping they'll move more of these features to the web interface soon. We operate across many state and local jurisdictions which has caused some headaches with tax filing. Also been struggling to get the annual PTO personal holiday grant feature working properly.

Pros

Team management made easier

Pros

Having everything in one place is fantastic. Payroll, performance reviews, benefits, recruiting, you name it. Makes managing our team so much more easier.

Cons

Sometimes UTM can be pretty slow and unresponsive.

Excellent for multi-company management

Pros

Managing HR and payroll across multiple companies in different regions has been smooth with this system. Everything runs under one instance which makes my job so much easier.

Cons

One downside is having to rely on third-party consultants for troubleshooting, customization and installation. You'd expect the company to handle more of this stuff internally rather than outsourcing it.

Complicated BI tool

Pros

User friendly system. What I love most is how quickly the support team responds through their Rapid Response lines, it's been a huge help when I need assistance.

Cons

Too many options. The BI reporting tool is tricky to use. You really need to work with it constantly to figure out how to actually run reports properly.

Powerful tool that handles everything well

Pros

Really solid and reliable system that handles everything I use it for. The stability is impressive and I haven't run into any major issues during regular use.

Cons

Annoying multiscreen requirement for cloud version

Pros

I've been using this for employee benefit enrollment and payroll processing and it handles both tasks really well. The system makes it easy to manage these HR functions.

Cons

Working with the cloud version gets really frustrating because you have to move through screens for every single transaction. It's such a pain and slows everything down.

Meets my exact needs

Pros

What I appreciate most is getting exactly what I need from this system. I wanted reliable data, solid reporting, easy access for my team and customer service that actually knows what they're talking about and understands my specific situation. This platform delivers all of that and then some.

Cons

I wish there were more note fields scattered throughout the system. When I make changes or updates to items, there isn't always a spot to leave a quick note explaining why something was modified for other users to see.

They respond within a day!!

Pros

Excellent customer service. The representatives are well-trained. Response times are impressive too. I usually hear back within 24 hours which is awesome. The rapid response team makes it super easy to get questions answered quickly when I need help.

Cons

The training is easy to access but I really wish there were more on-site options available. I'm someone who learns better face-to-face and that's what feels lacking here. Would love to see more community events where we could connect with other users in person.

Awesome reporting feature

Pros

It has a great reporting feature and since it's built by a third party, there's tons of learning materials available online. The Platform Configuration tool is another highlight. I can customize the site exactly how I want it. Adding new fields to employee pages was easy and generating reports on them was just as simple.

Cons

The compensation module really disappointed me. It's way too limited and we couldn't use it for our merit process or bonus calculations.

easy to find employee information

Pros

I can quickly find what I need when looking up employee details whether they're current staff or former workers. The search features makes it simple to locate specific information.

Cons

Support can be frustrating when you need help quickly. We've been waiting way too long to figure out why a tax form didn't get filed properly and even other Ultimate Software staff are having trouble getting answers from the person who's supposed to handle it.

Diverse set of features

Pros

You can really enhance your HRM approach without dropping serious cash on additional tools. Most of the time it's pretty user-friendly and employees can grab the info they need quickly and efficiently.

Cons

The sheer number of features can be too much when trying to configure new functionality. Everything is so interconnected that you often need to modify 3 or more tables just to get a basic user process working properly. Although the documentation website contains plenty of information, finding what you're looking for is frustrating. Unless you bring in a consultant, there's a real risk of improper setup since there aren't any step-by-step guides to walk you through configuration.

Has every feature I can think of!

Pros

I'm always discovering new features that this platform offers which keeps things interesting. Whenever I think of a capability that would be helpful, I usually find out it already exists. The recruiting module is my go-to and I'm impressed by how simple it is to toggle functionalities and manage job postings plus applicants. Having everything including benefits, payroll and recruiting in one place instead of multiple systems is really convenient.

Cons

Business Intelligence feature is pretty cool and useful but some functions feel overly complicated. Setting up automated communications requires creating equations to represent specific data pieces for messages and it seems more complex than necessary. I find it interesting though and want to develop my skills until I'm comfortable with it. I'm also frustrated that job applicants can't use one application for multiple openings. They have to complete separate applications for each position. Since many of our applicants apply to several positions, this creates extra work for them or for us when we manually apply them to multiple opportunities.
