HelloSign is an e-signature platform for sending, signing, and tracking agreements online. Small teams, particularly in real estate and legal services, use it most. Ease of use draws the strongest praise, while limited customization and a restrictive free plan draw the most complaints. Recent updates include the launch of a redesigned mobile signing experience.
Our Verdict
HelloSign fits small teams and solo professionals who need quick, dependable e-signing without a steep learning curve. Pricing is generally considered reasonable for solo users, though it may climb fast for teams with higher signing volumes. We recommend it for organizations with straightforward signing needs over highly customized document workflows.

What Is HelloSign?
HelloSign, now Dropbox Sign, lets businesses send, sign, and track agreements entirely online. This way it helps replace printed contracts and manual follow-up. It applies conditional logic to signing fields, so a form can show or hide sections based on how a signer answers earlier questions.
Beyond that, every completed document comes with a tamper-proof audit trail recording each action taken, from when it was opened to when it was signed. Its reusable templates turn frequently sent agreements, like NDAs or standard contracts, into a document that's ready to go in a few clicks.
What Is HelloSign Best For?
The ‘eSignature API’ is one of HelloSign's standout capabilities. It lets businesses embed signing directly into their own website or app instead of sending signers to a separate platform. Requests, branding, and templates all run through the same account, so the signing screen matches the company's own look rather than HelloSign's default interface. This way, a real estate portal or client onboarding tool can run the whole signing step without a signer ever leaving the page.
How Much Does HelloSign Cost?
HelloSign pricing is a module based, which starts at $20/month for is Essential plan. It comes with notable features, such as unlimited signature requests, security, template gallery, audit trial, multiple languages, and more.
The platform offers two modules each with its own pricing plans, including:

- Premium: Custom pricing

In addition to the base fee, buyers should also need to budget for the following potential costs:
- Initial Implementation And Account Configuration: Up to $5,000
- CRM, ERP, Or HR Software Integrations: Up to $15,000
- Data Migration From Another E-Signature Platform: $1,000–$10,000

- Additional Users: $25/user/month
- Custom Workflow And Document Template Setup: Up to $8,000

HelloSign Use Cases
Based on how users review this platform and what we have identified from the HelloSign features, below are some key scenarios where it can be a suitable option.
Legal Teams Needing A Verifiable Audit Trail
HelloSign’s ‘Audit Trail’ records every action taken on a document, from when it was opened to when it was signed, which matters most for legal professionals who need that record to hold up if a signature is ever disputed. This feature organizes client files, contracts, and signed documents in a single place. This fits practices that need documentation integrity built in, not layered on afterward.
HR Teams Processing Employee Documents
Onboarding a new hire usually means the same handful of documents, offer letters, NDAs, tax forms, going out repeatedly with only a few details changed each time. HelloSign reusable templates let HR teams set the fields once and reuse the same document structure for every new hire. This helps standardize hiring paperwork while reducing repetitive administrative work.
Real Estate Agencies Managing Property Agreements
HelloSign is a good fit for real estate agencies that regularly collect signatures from buyers, sellers, agents, and other stakeholders. It supports multiple signers, signing order, document templates, and real-time status tracking within a single workflow. This helps agencies manage property agreements digitally while reducing the need for printing, scanning, and manual follow-ups.
Businesses Managing Recurring Client Agreements
Organizations that frequently send service agreements, consulting contracts, purchase orders, or vendor documents can benefit from HelloSign's ‘Reusable Templates’. The platform stores document formatting and signer fields. This makes it easier to reuse standardized agreements and maintain consistent document workflows across the business.
Is HelloSign Right For You?
HelloSign is a good option for businesses that need a simple way to send, sign, and manage digital documents without relying on manual paperwork. The platform holds ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certification, and meets GDPR, HIPAA, and eIDAS requirements for handling sensitive documents and personal data.
A notable point for those exploring this platform is that the HelloSign provides a legally binding eSignature solution that helps businesses sign contracts quickly and securely. It complies with major electronic signature laws, including the U.S. ESIGN Act, UETA, and the EU’s eIDAS regulation, so it ensures that digital signatures are recognized and enforceable.
Additionally, Greenhouse, Collier.Simon and Flippa are among the notable clients who used the platform to manage signing across client and partner agreements.

“Major issues led to missed deadlines”
Pros
so easy to use. I don't have many positives to share because the negatives were such a big issue that I missed a deadline.
Cons
I actually got blocked from sending contracts once for sending out too many like 10-14 contracts at once. Apparently, that's a red flag for spamming.

“Simple and efficient signing”
Pros
It's really simple to send contracts and get them signed without endless back-and-forth emails. clients don't have trouble with the interface which saves time and avoids confusion. everything stays organized and accessible once the documents are signed.
Cons
As a solo freelancer, the pricing can be high if I am only using it occasionally. Also, the customization options for templates are not as flexible as I'd like.
