What Is CAMWorks?
CAMWorks software is a cloud-based Manufacturing platform that provides advanced computer-aided manufacturing with modules for 2.5-axis, 3-axis, multi-axis, turning, mill-turn, wire ‘EDM’, and high-speed machining. It uses a knowledge-based ‘Technology Database’ (TechDB) to store proven machining strategies, improving consistency, and reducing setup time. The platform offers automated toolpath generation, optimized roughing and finishing, and realistic virtual machining for verification. It also delivers precision, repeatability, and shorter production cycles across a wide range of machining operations.

CAMWorks Features
Program Faster
CAMWorks identifies machining part features from the CAD model. Its ‘Technology Databas’e (TechDB) captures best practices to shorten programming time. The platform also saves CAD and CAM data in one file and automatically updates toolpaths when design changes.
Adavanced Toolpaths
The software advanced toolpath generation, such as ‘VoluMill’ and ‘PrimeTurning’, reduce machining time and increase tool life. Its smart machining strategies streamline roughing and finishing operations for optimal cycle times.
Improve Customization And Setup Time
The system’s knowledge-based machining allows reuse of programmers’ best practices via ‘TechDB‘. Its machine-aware programming visualizes the ‘CNC’ machine environment to reduce setup errors.
Swiss Machining
The platform’s Swiss-type machining capability is included in ‘CAMWorks Turning Premium And Ultimate’ to address mill-turn and sub-spindle machines. Its ‘Segmentation Manager’ automates programming of long parts by defining custom segments and splitting toolpaths.

“productive CAD-CAM integration”
Pros
Working with it feels very easy and the interface is also polished and user friendly. The CAD/CAM integration is great and features like Automatic Feature Recognition plus the Technology Database really improve productivity and can cut programming time by as much as 80 to 90%.
Cons
There's nothing major to complain about. A few minor issues come up now and then but they're still solvable.

“saves time in manufacturing cycle”
Pros
Getting started with it is pretty simple and the learning curve for understanding the basics isn't that long either. Because it's integrated with the SolidWorks platform, CAM programming and validation happen quickly. The associativity between the 3D CAD model and program generation is really helpful during design iterations since both stay aligned at the same time. The design automation and customization options also do a lot to cut down development and manufacturing cycle time.
Cons
You need to spend a lot of time experimenting with the software to figure out all its features, which takes too long. It's also not available on the Mac OS platform.
