Pros

The selection process impressed me. The salespeople were informative and honest about the functionality.

Cons

The software's proprietary database is quite puzzling. All the field names are in German, and customization is nearly impossible without paying additional fees to Abas. Surprisingly, some of the Professional Services personnel lack adequate knowledge about their own product, particularly in the Finance and Sales areas, where some of our users were more well-versed in Abas than the consultants themselves.

Pros

ABAS served as our first ERP system, playing a key role in our business growth. Customizing the system to fit our needs was vital. The teams we collaborated with over the years felt like family and worked as part of our team.

Cons

We used to be ABAS users. As our company grew, we required scheduling features for engineered-to-order and custom manufacturing, and ABAS excelled in scheduling for standard manufacturing. We attempted to customize it, and while we found success with other functions, it didn't work for scheduling. Consequently, we had to find an alternative solution to address this critical aspect. Nonetheless, ABAS remains a great overall solution.

Pros

What remarkable is the ease of use. Hovering over an icon provides helpful information about its function. Virtual transfers process is quite simple, and I particularly like the convenience of packing slips and invoicing, including the link to Outlook for sending invoices to customers.

Cons

There are a few too many lines in the Stock Journal, with two lines per transfer being excessive, unnecessary and straining on the eyes. Undoing "posted" mistakes could be made simpler, and it appears that the upcoming update will address this issue, which is a welcoming improvement.

Pros

Perhaps it's just our local support that is lacking. Fortunately, we haven't experienced any major blackouts in the last ten years, which is undoubtedly positive. Colleagues who have used the software since its inception are well-versed in its functionality and have developed workarounds for most problems or have come to accept them. Having worked with the software for nearly twenty years, they consider it the state-of-the-art, as they haven't used any other software.

Cons

Where do I begin? As someone mentioned in another review, the colors used in the software can be quite harsh on the eyes. Although this is a minor issue that I can overlook, it's not the only problem. The user experience (UX) is a nightmare. There are endless lists, tabs and fields that are useless for 95% of users. When introducing a new colleague to the software, it becomes tricky and we often find ourselves saying, "Ignore this field" or "You don't need this tab." New colleagues frequently ask about the purpose of specific fields, and we have no idea most of the time. For the past ten years, none of our new colleagues have been able to fully learn how to use the software properly. It's not their fault, as it seems almost impossible unless you grew up using it. In fact, we've had new colleagues become so frustrated with constant complaints from the "old crew" that they ultimately couldn't integrate into the team and decided to quit their jobs. It truly diminishes their motivation. Over the years, we've tried to get some modifications done because we couldn't tolerate the time-consuming workarounds anymore. We've had several expensive in-person meetings with ABAS, during which they took extensive notes, but they have yet to provide any solutions to date.

Pros

The software is easy to use and runs smoothly on Linux servers. The integration with other software is well-regulated. The production and logistics modules are well-designed and fulfill their function effectively. However, the financial area is quite basic. This application primarily enhances service internally, rather than for external clients.

Cons

It takes time to adapt to the navigation and tools of the system. While it is intuitive, it requires opening numerous windows (resulting in many clicks) to access information. Performance issues arise when dealing with large data volumes, and the documentation/help provided is not always clear. The graphical interface lacks sophistication and appears too simple.
