Useful tracking

Pros

It is fairly easy to use especially if you don't have much experience with project management tools. One thing I like is that you can use as much or as little of it as you need, depending on how detailed you want to get. The TrackingTime Chrome extension was actually one of the first things that sold me on it because it let me track time on projects although these days I handle my time tracking in Freshbooks instead of inside Asana.

Cons

This may just come down to personal preference but I still haven't come across a project management platform that I genuinely enjoy using. I've gone through Monday.com, Zoho, Trello, Wrike and several others I can't even remember and I keep running into the same issues. The interface never looks as user friendly as I want it to and once projects start getting bigger organizing everything becomes more difficult.

Better cross-team coordination

Pros

Using it with both our internal team and outside vendors has been really helpful for keeping everyone aligned on project progress and action items. The cross-network collaboration features work well and it makes tracking deadlines and deliverables much more manageable.

Cons

We're still fairly new to the platform so I'm not sure whether this comes down to a learning curve or a missing feature but we haven't been able to approve or mark up content directly within documents in it. Since we need sign-off on deliverables across multiple teams, that makes the process a little more complicated and messy than it should be.

Top helpful reminders

Pros

One of the best things about this software is the automatic reminder emails. Its tools also give me better control over my time when I'm handling certain tasks.

Cons

I haven't come across anything I dislike about it yet although that could change later once I start using it more regularly.

Fantastic templates

Pros

It gives us a bunch of ready made templates for things like events, meeting agendas and marketing which makes getting started much faster. Sharing projects between teams works really well too so collaboration feels smooth. The subtask checklist feature is especially useful when you need to map out detailed plans. On top of that small touches like adding links, writing descriptions, tagging people and assigning tasks make the whole system even more practical.

Cons

There's honestly not much to complain about with it. The only minor issue I've run into is with templates since dropdown items can't always be customized the way I'd want. Aside from that small limitation, it's a very good project management tool.

Versatile integrations

Pros

One of the strongest things about it is how well it integrates with Google Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Drive and even Dropbox. You can set up tasks or entire projects and the team is able to keep track of progress clearly without running into problems. The calendar view is also helpful since it displays tasks according to their priority level.

Cons

There really aren't many downsides to point out. If I had to mention one, it would be that it is priced a bit higher than some other tools that offer similar features.

Flexible task hub

Pros

Having one flexible place to put all my ideas and tasks makes a big difference and it helps me stay organized without much effort.

Cons

Saving emails feels awkward and tracking them down later is harder than it should be. I really wish that part of the system were much simpler.

helps with team coordination

Pros

Working across departments feels much more connected with Asana. It helps us coordinate projects between different users without a lot of hassle and whether we need to quickly pull up information during a customer call or check the progress and performance of an employee's project, everything is available right when we need it.

Cons

Getting started with it took a bit of time because there was definitely a learning curve At first and some features were not immediately user friendly.

Powerful project tracking value

Pros

Between its standard tools and added features, Asana delivers a lot for the price. Our client handles very complex scheduling and project management demands and it has helped the management team keep up with a huge number of projects, shifting schedules and the many unexpected issues that come along the way.

Cons

Its Forms feature works well and gets the job done but the initial setup felt a bit confusing for some front-end users. Even so, once the forms were built, the usefulness of the feature more than made up for the extra time needed to create them.

covers everything needed

Pros

It covers nearly everything a team could need for collaboration and management. It handles projects and task creation really well, helps track how work is distributed among employees and how their progress is moving and includes both group and individual chat with @ mentions for comments. The calendar tools are useful for scheduling meetings and the graphical interface does a nice job of showing task progress visually. There are also dashboards and plenty of customization options available and beyond what I've already used, it seems like there's still a lot more to explore. On top of that it has a helpful community and good support when you need assistance.

Cons

Because it offers so many features and customization options, getting everything set up at the beginning comes with a bit of a learning curve. Once you spend some time with it, it becomes easier to adopt but that early stage can take some adjustment. During that phase the community and documentation are especially useful.

Fantastic task tracking features

Pros

Asana has been really useful for keeping track of tasks, updating progress with statuses and timelines and staying on top of what's been completed.

Cons

It also comes with a lot of features and if you're not taking advantage of most of them, moving to a simpler and more user friendly option can make more sense. My team used it for a few years before eventually switching to Monday.

Clean teamwork tracking

Pros

One thing that really works well with Asana is how simple it is to use especially when it comes to organizing, managing and tracking work across a group of people.

Cons

This tool offers a lot of strong features though I do feel parts of the design could use some updating or a bit more polish.

Reliable planning

Pros

The thing that keeps it in my daily workflow is how affordable it is while still being highly efficient and customizable. I use it every day for project management and it does a really good job of helping me visualize tasks and stay on top of the right due dates.

Cons

I do not have any negative thoughts about the app. It has been very reliable for me and feels on par with or even better than, other competing tools.

Stays on track beautifully

Pros

A communications consultant originally got me started with Asana and it quickly became a core part of how we worked together. Before long, I expanded it into the tool I use for all of my work. Even though I run a one-person operation and don't really need most of the advanced features, it does a fantastic job of keeping everything organized and moving in the right direction. The deadline reminders are especially helpful and the visual layout makes it much easier to see what needs attention first and where my priorities should be.

Cons

One limitation I've noticed, at least with the free version, is that I'm not able to have multiple projects or boards connected and accessible from one another. I get that this is likely one of the features reserved for paid plans.

Beautiful dashboards for teamwork

Pros

Its user experience is excellent. It gives me a dependable way to manage my own work while also collaborating closely with other teams across the organization. Communication seems very responsive and the real time, well designed dashboards make it easy for us to work together on projects.

Cons

One thing that could be improved is the guidance around reporting. I'm aware the feature is there but I would have appreciated clearer tutorials to help me understand how to use its reporting tools especially since I have limited time to figure it out on my own.

Fantastic team coordination

Pros

With the option for people to assign tasks to themselves, our team stayed organized and aligned even while working from different parts of the world. Everyone always knew what the others were working on and could quickly check the progress being made.

Cons

There really weren't any major downsides for me. The only issue was one brief outage and even that was so minor it didn't have any real impact.

Clean layout, limited reporting

Pros

It works really well for creating general lists of items, people and similar information and the platform has a very clean layout that's simple to navigate.

Cons

A downside is that tasks can only be assigned to one person and the reporting tools feel pretty limited.

Top helpful task tracking

Pros

It keeps teams aligned on outstanding tasks and projects, helps organize deadlines and makes it easier to monitor the progress and status of work.

Cons

This tool really depends on consistent upkeep to stay useful and up to date. For a very small team of two, it doesn't feel especially efficient.

Highly powerful task tracking

Pros

Sharing tasks with people directly from the dashboard is really convenient and being able to follow their progress and leave notes makes collaboration much better.

Cons

There are a lot of features packed into it so it takes time to learn how to manage everything and it can feel overwhelming if you are not used to working with dashboards.

Task management that delivers

Pros

Asana has completely changed the way I handle task management. Working with others is a big part of it and staying on top of my to-do list feels effortless and stress-free.

Cons

Nothing major comes to mind. Maybe the interface could feel a bit more user friendly but it still works well and does a good job of keeping both work and daily life organized.

Flexible task tracking features

Pros

Getting information into tasks is easy and attaching files is just as simple. I also really like being able to discuss a task directly within the task itself instead of cluttering up my email inbox. The customizable fields are a big advantage because they let me track details and progress in a way that fits how I work. The drag-and-drop functionality and color options also help a lot when I need to quickly spot what I'm looking for.

Cons

One thing that gets frustrating is that while you can add followers to tasks, you still can't assign multiple team members to a single task without creating duplicate tasks. There are also a handful of smaller interface details I would change in it. I'd prefer the project list to take up the full left-hand column instead of sharing that space with other top-level functions which could easily be moved to the top. Also, needing to click Show more Projects just to see the full list feels unnecessary.
