Fantastic task views

Pros

Probably one of the best tools for managing day to day work. I really appreciate how simple it is to move between list view and kanban view depending on how I want to organize things. The side card that opens on the right when I click into a task is also very handy and makes it easier to see details without losing my place.

Cons

At the moment a task can only be assigned to one collaborator and I'd prefer the option to assign it to several people. Using subtasks can work as a workaround but then you lose the overall view of the main task.

user friendly across every device

Pros

It is very user friendly compared with other tools I have tried. Whether I am on the desktop version or the mobile app, everything seems designed with the user in mind.

Cons

I'd still love to see more premium features included in the free plan especially company management options like being able to add or remove users from the company.

Fantastic onboarding

Pros

This software is user friendly and easy to use but the part that really stood out to me was the onboarding. It's excellent. On my first login the app walked me through an interactive step-by-step process to create my first project and that helped me a lot during my first time using it.

Cons

The only drawback for me is the Google Gmail integration. It doesn't make much sense that it only gives the option to open a tab when I open an email. I'd prefer the integration to let me create a task in it whenever I want.

Top excellent feature-packed

Pros

Asana has been around a long time and for good reason as it offers one of the most complete feature sets you'll find in a task or project management tool. It also integrates well with other productivity and communication apps which adds a lot of value.

Cons

Once you're managing work for just one person or a smaller team, it can start to feel a bit complex. Getting a clear view of all tasks at once is harder than it should be and it would be much better if free Gantt charts and other visual task overview options were included.

visual workspace

Pros

It comes with a wide range of project management features. The workspace is visually appealing and makes it simple to organize, monitor and handle different tasks throughout the day.

Cons

One thing that bothered me most was the limited support for recurring tasks. Since my job involves weekly and monthly routines, setting those up was a bit challenging.

Powerful project linking

Pros

One of the best parts is being able to connect projects together and set up task dependencies almost like a Gantt chart. That makes it much easier to prioritize work and see what needs attention first. It also does a really good job of clearly highlighting priorities and overall it's very user friendly.

Cons

Even though it's built for task management and prioritization, it can start to feel a bit complex and cluttered when you're handling too many tasks at once. You still have to stay disciplined and keep your own priorities in order.

clear task ownership

Pros

Every project task and subtask can be assigned to a specific team member which really helps with follow-through because each item has a clear owner responsible for it.

Cons

The downside is that only the team manager can access the calendar view for the team's tasks which makes coordination more difficult than it should be. On top of that a kanban-style workflow isn't readily built in so it's harder to monitor delayed projects and spot where support is needed from a broader, high-level view.

detailed boards

Pros

The tool is fairly user friendly and the boards work well across a lot of different use cases. The collaboration features are really strong and the watcher feature is something I especially like.

Cons

It still takes a little time to fully get comfortable with the platform. I'd also love to see more options for customizing fields and it would be even better if the tiles had more flexibility too.

task organization done right

Pros

Rolling it out across the team was very easy and it helps me keep my tasks organized better than anything else I have used.

Cons

I honestly cannot think of any downsides to it.

Much-needed upgrade

Pros

Over the last few months they've rolled out several much-needed updates and being able to delete tasks and sections has been a huge improvement.

Cons

It still takes quite a few clicks to get things done which adds up and becomes time-consuming overall. It has gotten better but there's definitely still room for more improvement.

handy team tracking

Pros

Using the free plan has still been really useful for my team. Even without access to every feature, I can share information with teammates, assign tasks, track progress and keep communication flowing in one place. Another big plus is the Slack app since it sends me notifications and even lets me handle some actions directly from Slack. Overall it's very simple to use.

Cons

The free version does have a cap on how many people you can add to a project so if your team is larger, you'll need to upgrade to a paid subscription.

Task assignment that clicks

Pros

Assigning tasks to team members is easy and the option to set priority levels on tasks is really useful. It's also something nontechnical teams like designers, support and similar roles can start using without much trouble.

Cons

Compared to the Atlassian suite, the integrations are not as smooth with documentation platforms like Jira and Confluence.

Helpful timeline, cluttered workspace

Pros

One of the most valuable parts of Asana is the timeline, along with the option to assign specific tasks to each team member and keep track of how the work is progressing.

Cons

The interface feels somewhat cluttered and overcrowded so it can be difficult to locate what you need. There's just too much happening in the workspace which makes it harder to stay focused on tasks and lowers overall efficiency.

fun task-completion rewards

Pros

Those little animations that pop up when you finish a task might seem minor but they're surprisingly satisfying and make completing work feel more rewarding.

Cons

Getting comfortable with it wasn't quick. It took me around three weeks to really understand how our team was supposed to use it.

Flexible project tracking powerhouse

Pros

Across both our internal and client facing projects, it does an excellent job of keeping the big picture organized and visible. It is very easy to use, maintain and adjust to fit how our team works which has helped us create a smooth workflow and user experience across the organization. Plus being able to add multiple custom fields along with the core system fields gives us the structure we need to manage work exactly the way we want.

Cons

One thing I'd still like to see is more control over the files attached to each task. Having a centralized storage system for those files would be ideal.

Project updates

Pros

The calendar layout is really useful and the project threads make it simple to keep up with updates from different people. I also appreciate being able to reschedule tasks just by dragging them around in the calendar which makes planning feel much more convenient.

Cons

There are a few areas where it falls short for me. First, on the mobile app, the icon on my phone constantly shows a badge with 93 inbox items and that number never seems to change whether I open old messages or get new ones. Because of that, I cannot quickly tell if there's actually a new ping that needs attention. Second, on both desktop and mobile, I work with a couple of different clients that use it and if I am logged in with one client, I cannot stay logged in with the other. It doesn't offer the kind of simple workspace switching that Slack does so coordinating meetings and tasks ends up taking extra steps. Third, the Google Calendar integration worked for a while and then stopped which turns scheduling meetings and tasks into more of a hassle.

powerful tools for team management

Pros

Switching over from Trello was absolutely worth it because this platform offers so many more capabilities. Even using just the free version, there's already a lot you can do and I am at the point where upgrading to premium feels like a smart investment. It's especially valuable when you're managing larger teams and need something more comprehensive.

Cons

Getting everything organized takes a little time at the beginning. With so many boards, lists and tasks available, it can feel overwhelming At first especially for new employees who are still trying to understand how everything works.

Simple design, limited flexibility

Pros

It is easy to use and it handles to-do lists and task tracking the way you'd expect. The interface is clean, simple and user friendly.

Cons

Customization feels pretty limited. You can assign deadlines to tasks but you cannot link them together so one due date automatically shifts based on another task being completed. If something gets delayed, you have to go back and adjust each deadline manually, one by one.

Flexible templates

Pros

One of the best parts of this software is how well it integrates with other tools like MS Teams. It also lets us create multiple templates for different project types which saves a lot of time. Adding new tasks and updating existing ones is easy and quick.

Cons

Things can start to feel a bit confusing once there are many projects in the system. Also while it does integrate with other apps, any changes still open the software in a separate browser window instead of letting you make edits directly inside the other app.

Beginner-friendly task tracking

Pros

Managing tasks with it is very easy especially with the Kanban board. The interface is simple, clean and beginner friendly so it doesn't take much time to get comfortable with it. Even the Basic plan covers almost all the essential features and having API access included is a really useful bonus.

Cons

One limitation is that the Basic plan does not support custom fields and exporting data is also not available there. Custom branding is another feature missing from the Basic plan which can be a downside depending on your needs.
